No. Per game all-time at his position MJ is 1st pts,1st blk,2nd stl,3rd reb & 5th in ast. That’s top 5 in every category,top 3 in 4 outta 5 categories.He’s the only only player in nba history to accomplish that. Per game all time at his position Lebron is 1st ast,2nd pts,9th stl,13th reb & 17th in blk. That’s top 5 in two categories,top 3 in two categories.Great but not on MJ’s level clearly.Especially his defensive and rebounding numbers.The only category Lebron better’s MJ relative to their position is assist.We all already knew/know that because that is the ONLY thing Lebron has ever ‘had on MJ’. MJ is #1 all-time in P.E.R. in both regular season and playoffs. He’s #1 all-time in win shares per game in both regular season and playoffs. He’s #1 all-time in BPM in both regular season and playoffs. He’s #1 all-time in VORP per game in both regular season and playoffs. He has the most scoring titles all-time. He made the most all-def 1st teams all-time. He lead the league in scoring and made all-def 1st team at the same time 9 times.Lebron never did it once.Neither did Wilt,Russell,Kareem,Bird,Magic,Kobe,Hakeem,Shaq,Steph,Kd...Not one time. He has the most trophies all-time with 22 in 1,072 games. For context Bill Russell and his 11 championships is 2nd all-time with 17 trophies in 963 games. Lebron is 3rd all-time with 16 in 1,407 games so far. Kareem is 4th all-time with 15 trophies in 1,560 games. Lebron can’t even comprehend playing at the level MJ played.

2:45 Doc hit the nail on the head. “In my day we used to celebrate our stars.” Social media has a GIGANTIC influence on why we don’t do this today. I’d be very interested in seeing how the stars of yesterday would’ve dealt with this new age pressure of 24/7 sports media, debate shows, the “if you don’t win right away you’re a failure” narratives, etc

@@robertmurphy6566 Longevity goes into the discussion at some point. If a player averaged 40 in this league now but only played 4-5 years nobody is saying that's the goat of anything. How about we compare Bron's best 20 years vs everyone else's best 20 years? oh wait, few MFers played that long, and nobody has dominated that long. Take his best decade vs others if you like, but it's suuuuuuuper obvious you're just trying to make an exception for another player. Deep down you know Bron is the goat. Condolences

Why do. They keep saying that he makes everyone around him better, during his career, what happened in those championship games warriors, mavericks and other games that he lose, didn't happen with the Jordan and Russell, maybe he should have had Robert Horry a true team player , won rings everywhere he played, no killer instinct all , and he hollered at J.R smith in the game that he could have put the warriors away with if didn't choke in the middle of the fourth quarter

Can't give it to you. He's off on most his points: "MJ suprised everyone how great he was." Don't think so. MJ already had a shoe-deal, before his first NBA-game. MJ was the College player of the year, before he agreed to join the NBA-draft. And, he won a college title, making the game-winning shot as a freshman. "We allowed MJ to grow into greatness." The Bulls were fifth in their division before MJ was drafted. MJ had to carry the team since day one. And, he's receiving flack today, for not winning a ring in the 80's. "LeBron is better, than anyone ever thought." He was predicted to be the Goat, but he somehow exceeded that? That don't make sense. "Bron's had some of the biggest clutch games in NBA-history, yet noone knows it." Huh? Bron has been the face of the league for ages, and he's played some NBA-games fans don't know about? Yes, Bron's had some of the greatest playoff-runs, but he simply isn't the clutch-player MJ is. We do know that. "People are gonna say, man, LeBron James, was one of the best players, ever." You should update this now that Paul Pierce and KG essentially called him the greatest of all time after passing Kareem in all time points. If you know the history between them and Bron, you would know how absolutely insane that is. Paul George spoke about him on his podcast a few days ago too. You also forgot to put in the classic clip of Baron Davis and Paul Pierce calling him a combination of MJ, Magic, Pippen and Penny Hardaway back in 2018

People don't understand how much LBJ's High Basketball IQ enhances his game and makes him such an unstoppable force. He combines high IQ, strength, and rare athleticism, with an ability to control the entire tempo of a game. He's a player/coach as many on the inside have stated. These are intangible skills that are extremely effective in winning games but are not captured in objective numbers. Most of the people who cast aspersions and criticisms at LeBron are either fat, out-of-shape people who don't actively play sports or work out or who are so biased and full of hatred toward LeBron that they can't think critically. LeBron has evolved and developed skills that he didn't have in his prime years. This alone tells me that had he developed those skills early on he would have been unquestionably regarded as the best who ever played the game in almost everybody's mind, even in the rattled minds of his most loyal critics. Everybody with the rattled brain syndrome is quick to point out the hand-checking era in which Jordan played, the dominant big-man league, but do these people actually believe that defenders sticking their hands-on Lebron would stop his 270 lb frame from driving to the basket? I mean, guys weighing 250 lbs wrapping their arms around LBJ couldn't stop him from scoring but hand-checking would stop him? LBJ plays in an era where big Centers can not only shoot but can post up and handle the ball with finesse and skill. Comparing eras is difficult, though, because had Jordan's era been inserted into today's league, the shooting guards of today and the big, athletic Centers would destroy the Jordan-era illegal defense. Of course, you can't insert generations into any other time period. Each generation adapts to its unique circumstances and the rules of the game. Jordan would be great in today's league and LBJ would have been great in Jordan's day. Perspective matters.

@@mrhoward19801 Dude, do you make bad decisions? If so, then does that mean you're IQ is low, average or what? Read what I said. You also said that you don't care what anyone thinks, yet you commented on my post to try and persuade me to agree with your statement that LBJ does not have a high basketball IQ. I do agree that what people think is not as important as making a concerted effort in acquiring knowledge in the most truth-conducive way. That means trying one's best to avoid making fallacious arguments that are not logically coherent or supported by the available data as well as an abundance of first-hand accounts and testimony. You do realize that emotions can interfere with good decision-making, right? Also, fatigue and other issues, but even then, I still fail to see what you're talking about when you point to LeBron's "mistakes" or how, even if what you say is true, that means his IQ is not high. Moreover, since you don't care what other people think, why should I care what you think. Do you have something to say that is not only known or accessible to your mind? If not, then to each his own and to everyman, let his delusions and separation from reality help him cope with the discomfort that reality presents.

When bron make that legacy after winning 2 in miami and 1 with the cavs and later 1 with the lakers, it solidifies his resume on that goat conversation.. He has 4 now, maybe 5 if possible this year, but that record of being in the finals for 8 straight years is on another level, plus he's been on the top 10 all time record for points, assist, rebound and steal, not to mention he is now the all time leading scorer, it signifies that he is what people think he is.. Jordan has'nt done anything like that, aside from jordan's 6 ring, what else can you say that jordan is above lebron? If you are reffering to number of rings, look for russel though!

Then I started watching the NBA again in 2012-2013 and haven't stopped. I watched a few of Kobe's lasts games, and most of LeBrons. I was sad I didn't get to enjoy Kobe more, but I feel fortunate to witness another GOAT during my lifetime in LeBron James. He's such a great player and overall better player than Jordan. I will watch him live before he retires, because I never got to see Jordan in person. I think what people really forget is that Lebron not only is the all time scoring leader but he’s also number 4 in assists. Not to mention the rest of the top 10 in assists are all guards who are known for their passing.
@TellenJones

As we've seen in Russell Stats-brook case, having all those stats doesn't necessarily lead your team to success. When a guy is allowed to hog the ball all the time, he's gonna give you lots stats but usually at his teammates' expense. In Jordan's 6 NBA finals, he only had Pippen as the other all-star level scoring teammate. His Bulls team averaged 23 assists per game. In Lebron's 6 NBA finals including 11-14 and 16 & 17 when he always had 2 all-star level scoring teammates (Bosh/Wade & Love/Irvine), team Lebron averaged only 19 assists per game, 4 less than the Bulls. How come? If you have one more all star scorer, you should have more chances to set your star teammates up and therefore more assists. Why did team Lebron average 4 less? You see Bulls played a triangle offense system where Jordan let go the ball and let it flow within the team. Whoever got open received the pass. If no one was open then threw it to Mike to crack the nut. So Bulls let everyone get into the flow of the game. Team Lebron OTOH had the ball in Lebron's hand all the time so of course he got the passing stats but his teammates ended up with less possessions and therefore less shots and team assisits.

LeBron was paving his way when he went to the NBA. I was paving my way to beat alcoholism. He fought relentlessly to be a winner. And I am fighting hard to be sober. LeBron is more to me than the game. I won the championship 3 years now against alchohol. I broke through. And now I need another 3 peat. LeBron is my inspiration.

I saw both LeBron and Jordan play virtually every game in their career.. in the context of the GOAT debate, as fans we fall in love with players especially when they appear larger that life or have inspired us to be a best versions of our selves. That in term makes it hard for fans to be objective even when the fact and reality around them have been greatly altered. In that sense and in terms of who is the GOAT we often battling with our own biases and version of reality rather than one rooted in facts. Outside of the media driven narrative, personally -cultivated reality and personal nostalgia of one’s own experience, it’s rather difficult to not see LeBron James as the GOAT given all that’s widely noted here in term of his skill-set, basketball IQ, will-to-win, leadership, physical abilities, championship accolades, longevity, the evolution of his game across decades, turning corpses in championship caliber players, making his teammates believe they can do virtually anything but fly while maintaining his own sense of gravity on an off the court etc. Distill these underlying substrates in relation to the game of basketball, the GOAT debate becomes merely about one’s own personal biases and culturally groomed opinion of what constitutes the greatest basketball player of all time. LeBron is the GOAT IMO.

_"it’s rather difficult to not see LeBron James as the GOAT"_ Difficult? I don't know what you were paying attention to when it happened, but It was _overwhelmingly obvious_ by summer 2011 that LeBronze has no chance of ever equaling or surpassing Jordan. No chance, PERIOD, kidz. N A D A. And It's ok, life goes on. I had high hopes for him and got over it, you can too!

The craziest thing about Lebron, is now he looks like a even more complete player, and he’s 38 years old! All the great players knew eventually the crazy athleticism they had will slowly diminish. So they perfect the moves that don’t rely on it. Like Mj, and Kobe did. If you look at Lebron, now he paces himself throughout the game, and doesn’t need to attack all the time. He’s shooting 40 plus from 3, he’s really good at making shots off the dribble, and in the post. All an all just an unbelievable player!

Let's just agree that if we could have a prime MJ and Bron on the same team it would've been the scariest sight in the nba, 2 of the greatest all around players in nba history would've led a team to the finals every single year they played, and if it didn't happen everyone would be shocked, these guys are generational talents, like giannis you won't see players like these very often, and the fact that Bron has done this for 20 years now, and wants to play more is even more of a statement to his greatness, Both MJ and Lebron are amazing players and have more than earned their accolades, and people saying bron wouldn't survive jordans era, you're talking a guy who has adapted to how the nba is now. That's why he calls for fouls so often, This man in his younger years was 6'9 250-255 lbs and pushes centers around, him getting physical is absolutely not a problem, while everyone can say he wouldn't survive you have to realize that all players adapt to how the game is now, harden gets 20+ foul shots a game, any superstar gets 10+ in a game everyone is looking for fouls. Back in Jordans era it was less fouls and more physicality, Bron can do physicality not to mention he is again.. 6'9 big and FAST for his size, faster than most guards even, would he score less points in jordans era? maybe, maybe not, but don't act like he would be useless in his era.
