Lebron never came close to MJ in steals in a game or averages. Even Bird once got 9 steals in 3 quarters. It may seem like it's closer cause Bron has like over 300 more blocks but how many blocks did he get in 15 seasons? Jordan was also way more of the type to stay in front of the defender and not go for chase down blocks unless he turned the ball over. Most of his blocks came from help defense.

LeBron is no doubt one of the very best to ever play, but you don't need stats necessarily to determine if he was better than Mike. All anyone needs is to either have seen it in real time or online, and it very quickly becomes apparent that Mike is better. Stats are great and can qualify but must be kept within context. Qualitative vs. Quantitative if you will. Anyone who'll take quantity over quality has a clouded view.

LeBron strikes me like a Brett Farve of basketball tbh. Yea, Farve has some impressive longevity records, but he's not a winner, and certainly no Brady. "LeBron", or "Brady" will never have the cultural impact to the point where their name alone can be used to describe a paragon - to be the 'Michael Jordan' of [action or occupation]. Anyway Jordan was my hero as early as the 3rd grade. LeBron is just kind of boring to watch also. No quirkiness, just mad king (James) vibes.

Brett Farve is a super bowl champion dude. Don't say he's not a winner. Plus farves numbers aren't just about Longevity man. Dude won 3 mvps in a row. He's the only nfl player to ever do that. Brett farve was the best qb in football in the mid 90s.. Besides winning championships has more to do with TEAM fam. Farve didn't have the teams Brady had for most of his career. When he did he won a super bowl

I've watched both in their careers (prime and later) and MJ never took a second off when he was on the court. MJ is by far the better defender. As far as the Goat debate goes, there isn't one (regarding LeBron). He lacks a key ingredient. The IT factor. Something that all of the legends have. Kobe called it the Mamba mentality. He can accumulate all of the stats that he wants, but he will never reach the summit. There are so many ahead of him because of this (Kobe, Larry, Magic, Kareem, Akeem, etc.). There is one other deficit in his game and that is that he can only play one way. And he forces teammates into playing this way and often forcing them into playing out of position. This has happened throughout his career.

How many of yall drive a loaded prius vs a modern half ton truck? That's the comparison. Jordan was just about the best you could be at guarding your position (getting from a to b) and even good at helping (mpg). Truck gets a to b, not amazing mpg, slow to get going but will accomplish far more tasks. Draymond always gets the credit but Heat bron proved that you could run 1 big and be successful as a team on defense. The whole warriors dynasty wouldn't have been attempted without that proof. Jordan also really benefited from having an equivalentish, bigger defender at the 3 and an oversized pg for a lot of his finals runs. Never really HAD to over extend himself too much with those fallbacks cuz ya know, jordan wasn't gonna be assigned to a 4 or 5 and most teams ran 2 classic bigs before lebron proved ya didn't have to

Really stretching and generalizing to make lebronze sound like he’s right there with the greats. Guards Derrick Rose one time, becomes he can guard all 5 positions. He gets smoked if the full team defense isn’t there for him. Guards big men? Who, draymond green? Nope. He’s the beneficiary of circumstance, his chase down blocks come from his team mate setting him up with their defense. There’s too much negative impact from him on defense, kicking at bounce passes, getting lost in the paint, Kuzma having to push him to into position, not getting back on defense. And I will not compare him to greatness when he’s not even close. He’s the bronny james of basketball.

Stop when LeBron came intot the league there were not that many great big men left in the league. The last great big man was Shaq and he was getting out of shape!!! He was averaging these numbers against teams with weak big men !! Then you saw him have problems with teams like the Pistons and Celtics who were the few teams with Good big men (Ben Wallace, Tayshawn Prince (Pistons) and Kevin Garnett (Celtics)....Did you actually watch games from back then or are you looking at stats only? "Lebron has the edge in blocks avg 0.8 bpg, vs Jordan with 0.8 bpg"... really? LeBron's edge is he's apparently blocking people taller than him... so if his thing is chase down blocks how is that right? since its more likely all those blocks came against guards who are all smaller than he is... and in all the footage of Jordan's blocks you used, he's blocking centers... so who's really blocking the taller players?

@yajeromeo

@goatcasthoops of course it's the footage you can find, most of which would be game highlights. But that begs the question, what made it a highlight? Before media became a LeBron ego stroking machine, it was for showing impressive feats. I would argue a SG going over the top of a center to block them, and to do it with relative consistency considering how many clips there are, is more impressive than a PF blocking a guard. Especially when he himself said he needs someone else to chase, slow down, and force a change in shot first so that he can get the chase down block, whereas Jordan's blocks were a result of perfectly finding opportunities through his own tenacity in half court defence.
