I don't understand how someone can grow too much in Christ to a point where they don't feel like talking about him all the time. As a matter of fact, the more you grow in him and know him in deeper levels, the more you want to share that with the world. I think if there had ever been a time we should raise the banner of JESUS high that time is now. I still love the old Lecrae.
@joshendley3 жыл бұрын
Hopped on the Lecrae train since Gravity when I was 13. As the years went I was always surprised when people were upset with him for collaborating with nonChristians and going mainstream. I only ever interpreted that as Lecrae bringing the Gospel to the world. I think going mainstream has pulled him away from certain core values, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the same brother-in-Christ since Real Talk. I disagree with Lecrae in many areas, but he’s still got my love and support.

Lecrae, I want to thank you bro. I started living for Christ Jesus in 2009 after watching the video for your song, “ Praying For You”. Seeing you walk in your calling while dressed the same way we were in Detroit, MI gave me fuel to do the same. Your album “Gravity” helped me get through a rough first deployment to Afghanistan 🇦🇫 2012-2013. People are moved through relatability and transparency. This video alone embodies both. We all evolve man, and I commend you for the courage it takes to evolve in the eyes of the public while growing as a husband, father and entrepreneur. That’s not easy in the least bit Fam. It’s really hard to process your faith being an evangelical icon since evangelicals have not been known for much nuance. It’s very black and white, all or nothing thinking, and Lecrae, I think you are bold to deconstruct, process, and think out loud about your faith while still holding onto an audience you respect like the Evangelical church that you might no longer find yourself as closely tied to spiritually or intellectually. I heard Andy’s EPs on deconstruction. I’m going through it. It’s hard. And it’s good to challenge and question and grow, but it can also be threatening to a lot of people who don’t know how to handle it due to the lack of nuance they have. So all this to say I deeply respect you, I understand a little bit what y’all go through as a new young pastor of a conservative church in the South, and I just want to affirm your journey and encourage who you are.

Learning how to be at peace exactly where I am can be really difficult when I’m comparing myself to other Christians. It’s so easy to pose as someone you’re truly not and I think Lecrae experienced this as well. As he got older, he learned to be more okay with who he is and is still being transformed by Jesus. This is super relatable and I’m super thankful you shared your story!

I will say, this video definitely gives me more clarity and empathy to his journey. Being completely honest, I’ve judged Lecrae pretty hard the last few years. I felt like he was chasing acceptance from main stream and masking it as taking the gospel to the lost. And it hurt because he was such a big part of helping me be bold and brave thru college. I drew courage from Seeing and hearing him declaring being unashamed. And his music today doesn’t necessarily invoke that same feeling. But none the less, I’m encouraged by this video because I can tell Lecrae is still pressing forward and I can see in his journey, his faith is strong. He’s just going thru the ups and downs we all do. His are just in front of the camera.

I totally agree when you say just because your a Christian does not mean your work needs to be a sermon, you have pastors,church’s, the Bible the Holy Spirit to teach an individual, the gift God gave us is to bear good fruit and by our fruit people will know who we belong to. So keep pushing Lecrae, I remember in my early walks with Christ I would listen to your music and it gave me so much strength and courage and when I had a weak moment in my life and I had back slide I remember being in an apartment with people doing drugs and they had MTV on and when your song “I’m turnt” came on I was the only one in the room going crazy like yo he made it! He did it! And everyone in the room looked at me like what?!? And I remember telling everyone that night who you were and that I’m a lover a Christ but just hit a hard path in my life. Flashback 5 years later the owner of that apartment died of an overdose. By that time I had left all of those friends and things, I became a mother and now I’m just restoring my relationship with God. Life is not perfect but with God by my side he makes it perfect! I’m thankful for your music, it’s definitely my workout playlist to keep my mind focused and it’s therapy for me to relate to other Christians who struggle on a day to day basis. I got stories for days I remember wanting to go to 116 concert here in Miami this was for your new album Anomaly, I remember for some weird reason my card was blocked that night when I went up to purchase the tickets, a vendor who worked inside came up to me and said if I worked in their booth before the show I would be able to watch the show for free, man I had the best seat in the whole place and after that I was able to pick a free shirt! I love the 116 crew and you Lecrae. Thanks again and God Bless

Bro, the Rehab Marketing was awesome. I got captured into your music because of that album. #Killa is still a knocker.

My brother, you're the reason I started listening to hip hop. At some point, I noticed a change in your music. It wasn't about Christ anymore. Your music used to be set apart from the world, and it ministered to me. YOU used to be set apart. I know other people feel the same way, and that's why so many are speaking out against you. Some of them are just haters, but there are those like myself who speak with love. You've been blessed with a successful career and a bigger platform, but you've backed away from your humble origins. It used to be all about Him. Now it's about you. You've compromised my brother.
