I've had this bike since August. I got mine in white, with the panniers. I'm sitting at a Starbucks right now, and it's locked up outside (use 2 big u-locks plus a cable around the rear tire because that's where the motor is located!!). I just hit 156 mile on my way over here, and I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. It's capable, affordable, foldable, lets me leave my car at home, and it's also something I didn't fully anticipate until I started riding -- it's fun. I'm not a shill, just a satisfied customer. Keep up the good work, Lectric! About locking in the city, for anybody who is considering purchasing this bike, and lives in the city: always use two heavy-duty u-locks plus a cable in through the tires. It's not convenient, but it's really the only way to deter somebody with a cordless angle-grinder from getting away with the bike. I also installed a really cool motion alarm I got from Amazon for less than $20 -- 110 decibels. So, if somebody really wants my bike, they can try cutting through all of the locks while getting their eardrums pierced, all while hoping nobody stops them! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 out of 5 stars is a matter of principle. Just how good does something need to be before we can say it's perfect? I dunno... It would probably need a couple of attachments we can't talk about in polite society. :-/

I've had this bike since july of 19. Have put on close to 800 miles on the speedometer. This is my 3rd electric bike and it is my favorite. Two small things I have noticed with this bike. The first is that the mileage is not accurate. I wear a Garmin while riding and the Garmin reads 20% longer distances. My 800 hundred miles means I've actually gone 1000 miles. The 2nd is that I've started to get a little bit of a battery rattle when I am off road. A little bit of Gorilla Tape fix that. So far I have spent 1300 for my first electric, 2800 my second an 899 for this one, and by far the Lectric ex is the most fun. If they come out with one with front suspension forks I will buy it. Great bike for the money.

I ordered one of these bikes in June and agreed to having it shipped out in July from this company and I am so disappointed to see this video now. This young man is a liar. They do NOT ship ANYTHING from their (probably rented for this video or borrowed from a friend) warehouse in Phoenix. The fact is that the bike I ordered IN JUNE still hasn't been shipped and July is over in 2 more days. I hope they do not breach the contract they have created with the offer to ship in a specific month because I may sue them for breach of contract. I don't so much mind that the bike is made in and shipped from "overseas" (or China) as Bri explained to me on the phone, but the fact that this young man is lying in a video and misleading people to believe that the Bikes are made and shipped from a location here in the USA bothers me. If this is a father and son team, the father should be ashamed of himself for teaching his son to blatantly lie to people about where the bike is made and shipped from. These people never even TOUCH the bikes that we order!!! They simply take your order AND YOUR MONEY and then send a small portion of your payment to the phantom company in China who then proceeds to make your bike and ship it to Fed-Ex in America, who then ships it to you (and me, but not yet). The whole thing is a scam, but I'm willing to overlook being scammed if they send me my bike within the time frame that they promised in the contract, but if they do not, I may take my "fight" to the next level because I feel that these folks may need to learn a lesson about integrity and honesty.

Great review! I have thoroughly enjoyed my bike for the last few weeks. No issues at all. When I was testing out climbing a steep road yesterday, I lost all power suddenly. After getting it home, I charged it up but it will not come on. I called the guys at Lectric and told them what the bike is doing. Since it was close to closing time on Friday the 13th, they said they would get back to me on Monday December 16th and help get this figured out. So, I will report back on the customer service aspect of this company. I purchased one Lectric XP bike as a tester in our search to see what we want to use as our e-bikes for full time traveling in our class B RV. We are considering multiple brands but the Lectric XP was the first bike we purchased to test out a folding design. We definitely need something reliable and durable. I would highly recommend that anyone who purchases one of these to immediately put in tire sealant such as Slime. Even though the tires have some puncture armor sleeves inside, they still do not adequately protect against punctures from goat heads and such. I put 8 oz. in each tire and ever since, have not had a single problem. Before that, the goat heads were a constant threat. As I said, I will report back on the current issue of my Lectric XP woes and also on our decision on using the Lectric bike as our full time RV travel choice.

@sunnybluesky4405 жыл бұрын
Stormsteed ahh, glad you asked. The bike is non functional (it’s basically dead) and I will be driving it back to Lectric in Phoenix to have it repaired under warranty. They did mail me a box to put it in and send it back but I decided I didn’t want to go through the hassle of packaging it all up and such. I am going to be in the Phoenix area in the next week or so and will drop it off. They did tell me to expect a 5-10 day repair period and if they couldn’t fix it by then, they would send a new bike. So far, I am happy with the customer service of the guys at Lectric. We still have a ways to go to get it fully resolved and I will certainly report back on that in the next 2-3 weeks. Here’s hoping for a good ending. In the mean time, I have purchased a second e-bike (Ride 1Up) and I am doing a comparison of the two to see which one I like better, overall. As always, there are pluses and minuses for each one. It will be interesting to see which one comes out on top.

I've been using the XP since October and have over 250 miles on it. Only changes I've done is to put on a better seat and a trapezoid suspension seat post. I ride on paved roads, graded dirt roads, rocky BLM roads and it handles all very well. It is an excellent ebike and you can't beat the cost. Dealing with Lectric has been excellent and they always responded to my questions within a day. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth buying? Yes. I carry it in my Class B RV and use it to scout camping locations and just plain fun riding. BTW, I am a former mountain biker that had a Yeti 6.5 full suspension carbon fibre/aluminum frame with 9" hydraulic brakes … no regrets selling the Yeti and replacing it with the XP! Cheers, Steve

If i had to do it again i would not go with fat tires. they do make the profile fatter when folded and i had tough time with the weight and thickness getting it into a friends empty truck flat wise.

When will you review the Lectric XP 2.0 ?
@attilabodi8264 жыл бұрын
one thing that always gets left out of reviews of e-bikes is street intersections/safety. there a number of different setups. In general, these bikes are very heavy compared to regular bikes. at times the rear wheel has chargeback - makes it hard to peddle or push the bike if you don't have the electric motor turned on, so it feels like your pushing a 90lb bike. w a hand initiated throttle some bikes accelerate way too hard which can throw you into traffic and so on.

Awesome review as always, most of the weak points of the bike, I have changed out, I got new handlebars, grips, painted the fenders with plasti-dip. I am still looking into changing or adding a headlight. I tried to use it at night and it is not wide spread and doesn't cast the light far enough to miss things like pot holes in the road. The key position is a bad location, I would have liked a key switch on the handlebars. Overall I don't think you could build one for this price. If you compare this to the Rattan Fat Bear, it has most of the upgrades that people point out, but it is $1.5k so you really do get what you pay for. Thanks for the Video.

Wow, sounds like you've done a lot of great upgrades... Tell me more about the plasti-dip. Did you paint it on or actually submerge the fenders? That's a great idea! Which lights are you looking at to replace/add to the bike?

@@ElectricBikeReview well that is wha i am researching now is what lights can I use, they have almost 50v going to the lights so have to get something rated for that. So i might go with a battey powered solution. Been looking on amazon. I plasti dipped with a spray can. The beauty of that is if it gets damaged or i get tired of the color i can peel it off. I have this bike as well as a Sondors MXS...and i must say i LOVE THIS BIKE. Its so much fun and hard to find any negatives at all, or hear any reviewers say any negatives about it (until i heard what 'ol helmet head hear had to say, which is just noise to me...bc for less than $900 this bike is FANTASTIC) 62nM of torque, over 800 peak watts of output, 48V with 10.4 amps you cant ask for anymore. Anyone else who gets this bike, ENJOY IT...it will be hard not to!

currently have 800 miles on my XP. 0 trouble. It can withstand a 18F cold winter ride. AND a POURING rainstorm ride as well. After 8miles, I’ll have about 48-49V left. the only hiccup is that I already have to change my brake pads... I was hoping the brakes would last at least 2000miles. Also, taking out the battery is a big hassle. In the winter, I need to take the battery indoors but it’s so troublesome. Edit: I’ve done 1100miles now

Just received mine today and the rear rack light is rubbing against the rear fender. There is no bell now. Guess Lectric is cutting down standard items on the bike. I was really excited to get this bike after ordering it 3 weeks ago but now I have to contact customer service to see what they’re going to do to the fix the rear rack rubbing against the fender issue. I just called CS and they answered the phone quick. All they ask for is to email them the pictures of the damaged parts and they will send the replacement parts. Quick and easy. Took it out to test ride and found the disk on the front wheel is probably bent because it’s giving a noise like in Robby’s black bike in this video. Guess I’ll have to ask CS how to fix this. My first impression of this ebike is that it is easily damage during shipping causing customers to call CS to try and remedy the issues. CS replied back with a video to Park tool on how to adjust the calipers. I would say if you want to save money, buy this bike else get a Rad or Aventon Sinch.

We have 2. I do love our Xps but I do NOT like the way you have to pry the rear forks apart to get the rear tire back on. Every bike is going to get flats, slime or no slime, its going to happen. Not many people are going to be able to change a simple rear flat tire. Thats my biggest issue with the bike. And it sucks changing.Thanks for the vid's. I enjoy them.

Yeah, I'm with you on all counts... great value here, but would personally get the suspension post at least, possibly buy another bike with the front suspension fork if I knew I'd be riding off-road frequently, or dealing with rough streets ;)

My 750 Watt MATE X has the same annoying delay with power delivery when peddling , and there is another one second delay when you stop peddling. Overall mine has been very reliable thru 500 miles so far. I have heard of a lot of problems with the Mate X lineup but mine has been great so far. Waiting 18 months for it was not fun!

I specifically chose to buy a Lectric (original version) because for my riding, I do not need the suspension front fork which only adds extra weight for me. Also, I always have to carry my bike briefly on each trip, which means minimizing unnecessary weight is important. Most people do not study their needs enough before buying a specific bike, but I know exactly what I need after years of experience. I just hope my bike is delivered before Summer because waiting over two months for delivery is not good at all.

I'd love too add that beautiful bike to my many bikes & drone's collection!!! How much would an additional battery cost. I often take the route less convient (off road) and usually 15 miles one direction.

Why couldn’t the key switch be rotated 180 degrees so it’s on the top of the tube. I wouldn’t want my keys hanging down where I can’t see them.
@ElectricBikeReview5 жыл бұрын
Great question... it would definitely be easier to reach and use on the top of the frame, but if the key was required to be left in, that could present a dangerous sharp protrusion in a pretty vulnerable spot ;) and I think they usually put key cores on the side or bottom so dust and water doesn't actively sit in there and leak in over time!

This bike looks like the best choice for its price. It's a hard act to follow but my concern is that a few years down the road those basic level components will need replacing/ upgrading and then there goes the value price of this bike out the window. OTOH ,It's nice to see Shimano,Tektro,and LG parts residing on this. I am still trying to figure out if this bike is 59+ lbs. or 62 or 63 lbs.total wght. And can the suspension seat post sold by Lectric add enough extra comfort to the ride to make it tolerable on extended trips? And can this bike be trollied around ok when folded up and both halves tied together? Lifting 60 lbs. of e bike is for younger backs than mine. I'd jump like a frog if Lectric could get that weight down about 5- 8 lbs.worth( see the Spark Bolt at 55 lbs for comparison). Another expert review from Court!Can't you just feel the love and fun he pours into his craft!
@ElectricBikeReview5 жыл бұрын
Hi Howard, I weighed it with my scale at 62.2lbs with the fenders, rack, and battery as shown during the ride tests here. Yes, it can be walked when folded, but it's not the most perfect or comfortable setup like some lighter bikes with standard tires. The suspension seat post looked pretty basic. I personally would upgrade to one with a suspension fork and at least SR Suntour NCX suspension post if I was riding a lot or planned on encountering rough streets or dirt paths. Thanks for the props on this review!

Great review. I have a question about the photo you shared for upgrading the handle bar grips to 'Ergon GP1-L Rohloff/Nexus'. Was that the right Ergon GP1 model for this Lectric XP bike? One comment on Amazon said, 'for the Ergon model GP1, that has that name 'Rohloff/Nexus' at the end of it, meant it has one handle shorter than the other. And that pic seemed to reflect that one was shorter than the other grip? Or are both handle grips suppose to be the same size on the XP? Thanks, just wanted to make sure they will fit the handlebar for the Lectric XP or if it's one of their other GP1 grips, where both grips are the same length?

Good question, the steer tube appears to be 1-1/8" straight and I've seen a Mozo fork on other fat folders that you might be able to find online.
