Where the handlebar used to go you can install an 8” long accessory bar. This will take care of the cover issue and it allows you to add parts that might not fit on the regular bar, such as a more powerful light for night riding.

I'm so happy I followed your video and was able to do the install. In addition I used an old rubber hand grip to put in between the previous location of the handle bars to.stop the rattling noise. I wish I could attach a picture.

052524 I followed your video and was able to add the bike stem to my Lectric XP 2.0 after not riding it for 2 years because of the handlebars. I rotated them, but was unable to fold the bike appropriately to transport it in a storage bin in my car. Your video made me reverse my earlier action and install the bike stem. It's been great. I have not experienced the "tiller" handlebar issue. I had a great bike ride today around the neighborhood with no issues. Although, my left hand still gets numb, but not as bad as before. Thanks for sharing this simple fix. It has been a godsend and has enabled me to begin riding my lectric ebike again!

I wanted to thank you for this video. I bought the part off amazon and put it on my standard XP 3.0 and I LOVE IT! works perfect. I ordered another for my Wife's XP 3.0. I found the handlebars are closer to you and I can turn on a dime without feeling shaky. For Lectric xp or others it's a must have. THANKS AGAIN! 🇺🇸

Thought this was a good idea but see my update below. UPDATE! Wife rode her bike today with this modification, she didn't get 10 ft before she was complaining about the weird steering and demanding that I ride it! So I did and it sucked!! You are no longer steering normally by rotating the steering stem with the bars! Instead you are turning the steering stem with a tiller! You have to swing the the handlebars instead of turning them. It wasnt bad when going straight but when turning it was awful and dangerous. My wife has medical issues and this was the last thing she needed. There is a reason you are the only KZbinr pushing this idea. In my opinion don't do this mod! Instead buy a TurtleNeck stem and bmx bars from DavidBrandNew and adjust your bars to any angle you want plus it looks way cooler than stock or this mod. This mod is awkward and dangerous in my opinion. No offense brother, just telling it like I see it

Some folks add an accessory bar. For me I just made a wooden spacer, painted it block and put the screws back in. Some people just leave the cap off.
@jackblah5842 Жыл бұрын
Any modification to a normal steering stem will change how the bike handles but you are 100% correct that this breaks the steering geometry. When you move the bars to the other side of the pivot point from the axle it requires you to move the bars in the opposite direction of what is normal. Calling it a tiller is a great description, when you move a tiller to the left the boat goes right.

Why not put a straight bar where the handlebars were like an extension bar? 😊

I am looking at doing this and put a a straight bar in the original mount and add additional lights , GoPro, etc, to help keep the main handle bars less busy, especially centering light

What measurement determines the handlebar size? Mine measures 7/8” which I assume is the 1.24 mm
@craiglenhard-rvrguyd Жыл бұрын
If you have a Lectric bike the stock handlebar is 25.4 mm or about 1". See 58 seconds into video for the part I ordered. If you truly have a 7/8" dia. handlebar, you would be closer to a 22 mm. 1.24 mm is close to 1/16" so something is off in your measurement.

@@craiglenhard-rvrguyd Hey Craig, got it going and I do like the new fix. Control is the main issue comfort another. The adjustable stem has taking care of both issues. @petethehawk5186 Жыл бұрын
Common handlebar sizes are 25.4mm and 31.8mm which is measured at the center. Usually the usable parts of the bars are 22mm. The clamp sizes will match the center width.

@@steveross7887 you must have the 25.5 not the 28.6. See video at 57 seconds for the spec. It's easy to buy the wrong size on Amazon if you are not careful. I suppose you could add a shim if you have some thin stock. Best to return and get the correct size.

Now that you have had it on for a few months (I assume you have been out riding) how does it feel? Any control issues or height changes at the vertical pivot point?
@craiglenhard-rvrguyd Жыл бұрын
I rode it last year quite a bit after the installation and had no issues. The wife, who is smaller, liked the position so I will be installing one on her bike. Since the longer bar between pivot points adds great flexibility, I think you would like it and if not, it's not a lot of money.
@timlist4173 Жыл бұрын
@@craiglenhard-rvrguyd I tried to loosen the handlebars up just to tilt them a little (and to measure them), and they seem to be a non standard size on mine, a 4mm is too small and a 5mm is too big. I don't have a 4.5mm or the SAE equilivent hex wrench. Did you have that issue?

@Tim List I did not have that issue but I have SAE and metric so one or the other worked. Most Chinese stuff would be metric.

Ebikes come with price points that can vary by thousands of dollars and since riders came in all shapes and sizes, a bike is not a "one size fits all" piece of equipment so, to address such issues one might find that a stem like this helps or fixes a problem they might have. For many a $25 fix is ok instead of buying a bike costing 4k.
