"Unless you're looking for a thrill ride..." What a perfect way to put it. Just passed a thousand miles on my XPress 500 and have yet to find a hill steep enough to slow it down, and 50-mile rides leave plenty of volts still in the tank, when I get home. No need for the extra noise, weight and expense of the 750.

For reference, a 3db difference is twice as loud. 6db is significant

I am a motorcycle guy, but recently had open heart surgery. Next month I’ll be leaning into my cardio rehab. Instead of getting another motorcycle, I’ve been obsessing over e-bikes. I thought bigger would be better, but the 500w will be plenty for me. I used to bike a lot when i was a teenager, but in my 40s now, the pedal assist is perfect. I’ve rented an e-bike a few times prior to the heart surgery and it was a lot of fun. Even if i end up using it to go to work, that’s only 7 miles one way, so the range is good. This is the exact review I was looking for. Going to order at the start of the new year.

Great review. Completely agree with the conclusion. Noise is a huge factor for me. I think the engine whine on the 750 would annoy me after a while. On the other hand, ive found a little noise alerts pedestrians if i forget to ring the bell.

I’ve been waiting for this video, just bought a 750 last night but still gonna watch this. Thanks bro. Edit: After watching, kind of wishing I had gone for the 500 due to the motor noise on the 750 but oh well, the extra power will still be nice. Double Edit: Shipping time was insane from Lectric, got it in

My 500 step-thru arrived six weeks ago, and it's been so fun. I love it. A total joy to ride around on. I chose the 500 because that's the legal limit in Canada (and with the exchange on the dollar it was significantly cheaper) but honestly the 500 has all the power I could ever want. At 160 pounds, I did not expect to be able to pedal up steeeeep hills in PA1 but that's no problem. As for range, I prefer long rides, and have completed several 50-plus mile routes, making it home with lots of battery to spare. So impressed. All you gotta do is pedal, which is pretty easy on this relatively light ebike with such good road tires. So, the bigger battery is not important to me. The noise of the 750 probably would be driving me nuts by now if I had chosen that one, so dumb luck strikes again. Also, I am enjoying the real-bike feel of the torque sensor, after three years on a pure cadence RAD Mini. I use the Xpress' throttle a tiny fraction of what I do on the Mini, and I find myself going up and down the PA levels hardly at all compared to the Mini. Great video, Ryan and Allie(?). Hope this feedback is useful.

I got the 750 and I pre ordered, so I got an additional battery at no charge. I live in Utah, and it's great to ride the canyons here.

Great comparison review! It is very curious to me as to why the 750w motor on the XPeak is so much quieter than on the XPress. Maybe Lectric could give an explanation? We ordered the 750 Step-Thru because the accessories included resulted in a small price difference between the models.

Ryan excellent review as always. I was waiting for this comparison. The motor noise of the 750 is definitely noticeable and a deal breaker for me. It appears the extra power is not actually needed. Thanks for pointing out throttle and power settings can be changed in the menu. I have watched a ton of your videos over the last couple years and appreciate the effort you have dedicated to the channel. If I get one of these 500's I will go through your link. Thanks again.

That was an excellent review. For me, the 500 is more than adequate, especially since it is much quieter than the 750. I live in the desert near the mountainous regions of Superstition Springs. With the right gear and pedal assist configuration the 500 should do fine. Although, with all the climbing, I wonder how long the battery would hold up. Would hate to be stuck pedaling home without the aid of the motor 🥴. No way of knowing, of course unless each could be tested. Still, again I think the 500 wins out. Speed is not of great importance. Perhaps if I was in my careless youth days it would, but at my age now, it’s slow and easy 😊. Thank you for the review. Very helpful.

Great review! Have 2 750w Express Step thru. The extra freebies and the longer range had me pick the 750. But I'd gleeful give up the tiny increase in performance for a quieter motor. The 750 even when not pressed is embarrassingly loud. I've been told by Lectric "The noise of the 750 watt motor is something that is a product of the powerful motor. As of now, we do not have any solution or fix for that noise, so it is just the motor as it is." But it is advertised as a 400% quieter stealth motor? Anyway, wonderful bike in every other respect, but unless you are a power freak a 500w is more than enough - as your review proved.

How come the Lectric One that has a 750 is a lot quieter
@robertcurtis11122 ай бұрын
Thanks for this realistic, and practical review and facts! I was drawn to the 750 step thru because of the bundle deal they are pushing the to also noticed. But I love how quiet the 500 motor is. There is no rush to be nowhere. The acceleration is perfect, and the distance where I rarely ride 10 miles a week.

Thanks for the detailed motor noise comparison. For me, it's a deal breaker or maker - I would absolutely not consider the 750 due to this factor alone; meanwhile the 500 was impressively quiet and without that annoying whine.

As a 68 kg rider, if one day I buy a computer ebike, will choose 500w due to its quieter hub and lighter bike overall.

Curious if the longer-range battery from the XPress 750 will work in the standard XPress.

I really like these bikes, and for my needs, I’m leaning towards the 500. Question; are you planning a review of the RadKick? I like the idea of a maintenance free belt. I have yet to see the RadKick reviewed…

Curious if the battery from the 750 is interchangeable with the 500? You mentioned they take up the same amount of space on the frame.

Curious. Does the noise level change based on the assist level? I wonder on the 750 what is the dB level at each assist level?

@@EbikeEscape, great comparison, thank you sir! 👍 I watched your Level 2 review and timed your 0-20 MPH throttle only test, just over 10 seconds. Were both reviews performed on flat, even ground? I'm surprised both the XPress 500 & 750 did it in the 6 second range, almost half the time. Heck, you got to 28 MPH in pedal assist in just over 9 seconds on the 750. Not surprised you favor the XPress over the Level, doesn't sound like a subtle difference in acceleration for bikes with similar weight, and given the price difference, just wow!

Do not understand the spec I see on line. Both bikes say the same weight 58 lb. That does not make any sense. Bigger battery and motor, both must weigh more. So should be some difference?

@EbikeEscape2 ай бұрын
I think you'd likely still be fine on flat ground. If you go on huge hills or like 20+ mph speeds I'd maybe consider moving to the 750.
@m.r.20662 ай бұрын
I’m a heavy rider (250+), and I’ve used a variety of e-bikes and motor sizes. 350 is a joke, might as well not bother with it. 500 is pretty ok, but I find I run through the battery at a pretty high rate because I’m always at the top assist levels. 750 feels perfect, and I can get a decent range out of it. I don’t use lectric though. I run a rad expand 5 now.
@layloni732 ай бұрын
I recently got the 750 step thru and am a heavier rider (240) i live in a steep hill area and the bike can absolutely reach peak 20mph going up hill on throttle only However it will significantly burn through the battery quick so i use petal assist majority of the time
