I heartily concur with Dr. Piper that we should give people time to locate biblical passages cited in the sermon! However, time constraints makes that challenging. Even though I sometimes wait for our people to find passages I reference in the sermon, I encourage them to jot down passages for later reference. I understand that this has its own challenges (i.e. they forget to read at home), but it's the best approach for now.
