Whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent, and now Larry Christy may exist with my consent. Love getting to listen to these lectures!

I am so delighted to have found this channel. After reading Blood Meridian countless times as well as any supportive material it’s great to find a little more ‘meat’ to chew upon and savor. Really appreciate your depth of understanding and insight. This masterpiece is truly bottomless and it has spoken to me on so many levels throughout those years. 💪🙏🏻👏

When the judge tells the traveler story by the fire to the Glanton gang is that related to the young boy "the man" kills before walking into the final bar for his reunion with the judge? I remember one of the boy's friends says after he's been shot something to the effect of, "it's not his fault he's crazy mister, his father was hit over the head by a maniac and buried in the woods." I couldn't help but make that connection considering it ends the penultimate scene, providing some sense of closure before the final confrontation with the judge. Does anybody know if the two were meant to be connected, or just a coincidence?

This is the most confusing passage of the entire work to me and you made it make sense. I can't wait to see what you do with the cold-forger.

17:39 did she read this Judge quote in the book before she said this in class? If so, she deserves an A+!!!

Ive always seen Judge Holden's ledger as a sort of mockery of Adam's God given task of nameing the animals in Eden. God even gives man Dominion over all the creatures of the earth and sea. Which fits with the Judges task of becoming Suzerain. I was wondering your thoughts on that idea.

God's word is in the rocks, the history of the earth. Man's word is what he leaves behind. The judge replaces both with his own.

Who's up for printing t-shirts saying "Et in Arcadia Larry Christy"? I've always thought something along the lines of "of course Toadvine can't kill the judge even though he damns him, because it doesn't matter what men think of the judge. The judge endures. He's a great favorite, he'll never die." I've read the gnostic stuff and other theories, but to me he was always - at least partly - a personification of his own praising of war, he himself IS the human love of war/meaningless violence that endures. He kills the kid because he wouldn't commit fully to it and then denied said love, whereas Glanton and the other fellas gladly partook in the dance. Yeah, I can't shake the feeling that the judge is men's love of war. Hm. Question: who'd you cast to play him in a movie? I think Matthew McConaughey would make a mean Glanton if he'd take the part, but the judge's harder. Keep rocking, this lectures are highlights in my week. Looking forward to the next part.
