I wanted to say a big thank you to you. I had commented on a previous video about what I thought was a bad Tcon board. I then managed to burn the main board with my horrible attempt to resolder the connection points for the cable so had to replace that. It finally turned out to be the cable which I replaced for about €10. I now have a working tv again. I would never have attempted to repair it without your help and videos. Thank you once again.

Been a fan since I was learning how to set up my Logitech Revue. Glad to know you"re still helping people! I'm trying to revive a Samsung LN40A500T1FXZA that started with a weird horizontal line a few inches from top of screen, then progressed to multiple vertical lines, screeching and powering on and off. I just inherited it after neighbor bought a new tv ;-) Thanks for all your great tips!

Yes we do like these kind of videos where you find and replace a component that has failed. I really like watching 12voltvids. He is an expert at hunting down failed components. Do more to show checking the voltages to help one figure out which board has the bad component. Keep up the good work.

Hi! your youtube tv repair guide vids are very impressive and this encouraged me to repair my own sony LCD 32CX520 tv which does not turn on after a high voltage power run thhrough it. I guess there should be a problem in the power circuit board only. I have replaced blown fuse, puffed capacitor (biggest one with similar volt and uf) and short circit mosfet chip in the heat sink, 3.3v power in the connecting plate is ok, but it still it does not turn on..your help in this regard is highly appreciated, am from Nepal...

Hey Paul, a great channel you run really helpful and interesting to watch. I ran into this video since I was struggling to identify one interesting issue on Samsung TV UE46ES8000 where HDMI inputs reacts kinda weird. It has flickering, stripes, picture loss, resolution not supported messages etc. The interesting part here is that DVB-T input, USB and Plex streaming works without any issues with nice and steady picture. So I figured out that it must be a main board that has some kind of shortened part or something related to HDMI inputs so I ordered a replacement main board (still on its way). I just wanted to confirm my analysis. Thank you Miro

If you get a desk magnifying glass that has the light and order the cheap helper arms you can take the glass off the arms and mount it under the desk glass you have the same magnification as you need under a microscope for soldering. You get a wider field of view and more light. It's a cheap way to get started. I found putting the IC on with an iron is so much easier.

Hi tampatec, Could you give me a tip on my current TV issue? I have a Vizio 37 inch model VO370M. The picture starts to flicker after the TV has warmed up after about an hour or so. Would this be the capacitor issue? Or maybe there is something else to it? I haven't opened it up yet to check the caps (if they are bulged or burnt) yet as I wanted to know for sure and what to look for.

Hi tampatec, I have a question about a Samsung UN46D6000 LED TV I have a problem with. There is one wide vertical band on the left side of the screen, that is simply black all the time. Like the screen is completely "off" in that area. However it is not the ENTIRE left side of the screen, it is from almost the middle of the screen over to about 2 inches from the left side of the screen. I already tried replacing the t-con board with no luck, along with all 3 ribbons attached to the t-con board (the longer one that goes to the main board and the two smaller ones that go to the panel boards.) Is it possible that it is just another bad t-con board, or am I looking at a bad panel here? Thanks!

The last time I did circuit board level repair the chip had contacts that went through the board and soldered on the back and you snipped off the excess. You used a heat sink on the chip leads to keep it from getting over heated. Things have changed.

OK I'm in the process of trying to fix my neighbors Samsung UN65F6300AF flat screen TV and this is my first attempt at a big TV like this. Here is the issue. With the TV in standby the backlight flashes but not all the backlight but just the bottom half I would say. When you turn on the TV the menu flashes and continues to flash but never stays on. When you try to turn the TV off it will not turn off unless you unplug it. Also when you first plug in the TV it gives a series of 5 single flashes and then goes dark. Pushing the on button makes the standby light flash once but does not stay on. The 5 volts and 12 volts is steady on the power supply. I'm thinking control board but the fact all the backlight leds don't flash makes me think they may be the issue. Care to hazard a guess?

Really helpful videos ^5! I have a 37" Samsung LE37R88BD(R) Type BP37EO. I'm on the west coast of Ireland so its 220-240v systems here. The tv is showing no picture when you are trying to view terestrial channels off an ariel, I can hear sound and pull up graphic menus, the back light seems to be working but sound no picture seems to be the problem along with the tv not accepting av inputs on HDMI or RCA! The power board had seven bulging caps so I thought heh this might be an easy fix. The kit was going to be €25 and I saw a full reconditioned board for €35 so I went ahead an replaced the whole board but the same problems persist. Any ideas on how to continue? I am fearing that it is the video output that is at fault. Are there separate boards for graphical overlays and video on the logic board? When I unplug the DTV cable and switch to old analog (we switched off analog signals in Europe a few years back) I get a full screen with what we call snow or noise showing on the whole screen! Where should I look next is my question because I am hoping that its an easy fix being that so much of the function is still there, sound, menus and backlight etc.?

Can you please answer a question that has been bugging me for a while. As these televisions continue to get larger and thinner why do they not heat up like gaming PC's do? On most gaming PC's they now have a humongous heat sink and cooler with multiple fans. Do these TV's have fans? Do they have CPU's and why do they not heat up as PC's do? Is it that the boards on the TV's are smaller and you have a lot of empty space in the TV to dissipate the heat? Thank you

Hi there, I have a Samsung UN55D8000. The screen is dim, but still view-able. However when I entered 3D Mode, the Screen works perfectly. But when going back to 2d the screen goes dim again, but still view-able. Based on the following research, I believe I have a bad main board. Also the cable connection is also bent on the main board. 1) T-CON Board - Is good if you can see the Menu when pressing the Settings Button 2) Backlight Test - Entering into 3D Mode the Backlight turns on and the dim appearence goes away completely. Which tells me the Backlight is fully fucntional. This sounds like a Bad "Main Board"??? Please help. Thank you.

I have a 48" Samsung TV could not be turned on. After a few detour I spotted the following symptom: T-Con board's 3.3V will shut off a moment after turn-on if con1 to LCD panel was connected. If the other flat cable from con2 to LCD panel remain be connected 3.3V will stay on and back light will be dimmed a few moment later. The board number is BN-95-01309A. How can I be sure that source of the problem was the T-Con board or the LCD panel itself?
