See how you can create a cool little light switch without any programming - just a simple circuit on a breadboard!
0:00 - Intro
0:05 - Hook up the LED
0:11 - Connect the resistor to the -ve LED leg and the -ve power rail
0:19 - Connect the switch, one leg to the +ve LED leg
0:25 - Wire the other end of the switch to the +ve power rail
0:35 - Connect the power supply
0:41 - Power on!
0:47 - Light in the dark :)

@@Herostormstol no u can't.. it has to be valued to suit the led u're using .. if it's too strong the LED won't light

you forgot to mention the resistor value ill do it for ya ill assume that the led runs on 3 volts and consumes 20 mah 9-3=6 7÷0.02 =300ohms also i have the same breadboard😀

How do I make the led stays on when I let the button go? And off the led until I press the button again?
@MakerVibe
@MakerVibe 9 ай бұрын
Great question. There are several ways to do this depending on what hardware you have. Here are a few ideas for you: 1) Use a microcontroller (e.g. Arduino). If you are happy with programming basic Arduino sketches, you can achieve the effect you mentioned very easily. 2) If you don't want to write any program, you could try one of the following options. But bear in mind that these require a fair bit of electronics knowledge to make: (a) Use a relay. You could connect the LED circuit to a relay module which will turn on with one press and stay on until you press it again. (b) Use transistors. This is quite advanced, but using transistors which are essentially electrical switches, you can also achieve the effect you're after. This is quite technical, though. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need more details, I'll try my best :) My personal recommendation is option 1, the microcontroller. You can much, much more than this with a microcontroller so if you're interested, it is well worth getting one.

No not really. Just make sure you use jumper wires to connect the power rails from the middle

How would I do this on one of those solder boards?
@MakerVibe
@MakerVibe Жыл бұрын
You'd have to connect all the components together with wires. I've never done it before because I usually just make PCBs once I'm done with my Breadboard. But most likely you'll need to solder some jumper wires to make the same connections as on the Breadboard.

How to add more leds?
@MakerVibe
@MakerVibe 9 ай бұрын
There are a few ways, but a lot depends on your power source. You can either add more LEDs in series with the one you already have, or you can add more parallel branches - one branch per LED. You might need a separate resistor on each branch, depending on your power supply.

hi is this like a relay switch or not?
@MakerVibe
@MakerVibe Жыл бұрын
Heya, no it's not a relay - a relay switch is normally used if you want to control a higher power device with an arduino. Something like a microwave or refrigerator etc.

Yes, it depends on which colour LED you want to light. 220 Ohm normally works well.
