Whoever turned you onto this has good taste in music. This is my favourite Led Zeppelin song. The Associations first recorded it, and would you believe, Joan Baez did wailing folk version. Legendary Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant, however, blues-ified the song and together with drummer John Bonham (RIP) and bassist John Paul Jones, took it to another level.
@Kirkunik14 жыл бұрын
You have to have headphones when listening to Zeppelin. The way they recorded then you miss so much. Robert Plant is the lead singer. Legends whose footsteps bands today follow. When you listen to these groups from back in the day....you have to understand the times to get the whole picture. It was all new. And explosive time of discovery. Appreciate greatly your reactions. Intelligent and honest. Thank you.

So many great Zeppelin songs to do. Like you, my first Zeppelin song was Stairway to Heaven, not long after its release, though I was a kid then. In College, I had become a hard rock fan, and was re-introduced to some of their kick-ass songs on their second and fourth albums, like Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, Black Dog, When the Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop. It was in my first semester freshman year (September, 1980) that drummer John Bonham died, leading to the breakup of the band. I heard the song "Dazed and Confused" on the radio and it was then that I knew I was in love with this band and needed to collect all of their albums. Dazed and Confused is on their first album, as is this song, so after purchasing that album, I heard this song in my dorm for the first time.

The Band Led Zepplin consists of, Robert Plant, Lead singer, and Master Harmonica player! Jimmy Page, Legendary Guitarist🎸! John Paul Jones, Bassest, and Master Keyboardist! And, on occasion, Mandolin! And Last but certainly not least The Late, Great Drummer John Bonham!! And According to an interview Plant did back in 1982, this is Zepplin's cover of an old Joan Biaz song from the Early 60's loosely based on a Soldier based over Seas, Falls in love, then is called away for active duty! And is AGONIZING over having to leave his lady!

Yes! You zoned right into it. The ebb and flow, the movement of this song is spectacular. The rising intensity of Bonham's high hats sliding into Page's unexpected Flamenco riffs is breathtaking. Jones' bass drives the whole piece like a Maserati! Plant's vocals told the story with such passion! IMO, this is a masterpiece in a catalog of iconic bangers. Very nice reaction! ✌️

Since this is the second song off their first album, why not start with the first song on the album? Good Times, Bad Times. Then just work your way through their 1st album and you'll start to see why they call it the "Zeppelin rabbit hole." Welcome to the peak of rock mountain, it's a helluva view. The Song was written by Anne Breton and recorded by folk singer Joan Baez. Jimmy Page heard Joan's version and decided to rework it into this. The album cover picture is of the Hindenburg which exploded in flames, killing all aboard, I believe. "BABE I’M GONNA LEAVE YOU" is a song about a man with a wandering soul that's torn between leaving and staying with the women he loves. It's not a break-up song. The lead singer's name is Robert Plant. The first time I ever heard this song I was 17 years old, and I'm 67 now and it still sounds great after all these years. The song is from Led Zeppelin's debut L.P from 1969 watch was heavily blues-influenced. Most of the songs are old blues songs from the '30s, '40s, & rom'50s. Thank you for putting the music that I grow-up listening to out there. If I may suggest, check out "Pink Floyd" song (Time) from the L.P "Dark Side Of The Moon". P.S and headphones are a must. ENJOY.

Led Zeppelin does nearly all blues-based songs - they started with interpretations of Black American blues songs, and went on to write their own - they worked in reggae, Indian, folk styles but always with a blues feeling: the man hurt by his woman -- If you haven't heard Dazed and Confused, that's a must-hear -- but many others are great, for instance Ramble On, or You Shook Me -- Robert Plant the singer is half gypsy, the bassist John Paul Jones plays keyboards and is academy-trained -- in a four-man band, everybody must carry their weight, and these guys are all masters. I was about 16 when this first album came out, we were all thirsty for electric blues, and these guys took it to a hard-rock level. The first and big hard rock bands were Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience -- you might try Cream;s Sitting On Top of the World, a smoldering slow blues number, or their biggest hit Sunshine of Your Love - if you can find it, try Manic Depression by Hendrix or else Message to Love. Also, Janis Joplin started with hard rock, try Combination of the Two (fun!) -- and maybe the band Mountain, their song Mississippi Queen for starters - there was a period when that blues-rock style took off - we'd never heard anything like it before

it was written by anne bredon, later recorded by joan baez, who by that time didn't know who had written it & credited as a traditional. zeppelin also thought it was a traditional & added their own spin to it. the spanish guitar (flamenco) touches show the influence of the moors who had invaded spain.

Headphones are a must! Even earbuds from a cell phone would be better. You’re missing out on half the experience. ❤️❤️❤️

The Hindenburg was what it was called. Please, if you haven’t done Ramble On, could you? One of my favorite Zeppelin songs. I just found your channel tonight. Haven’t seen anyone else do it so far. Thanks

First time I heard this was finding an old album of my stepmom's in 1978-79... I had heard some Led Zep before, but this was the first full album of theirs I had listened to top to bottom. Been a fan ever since! Other song suggestions - "Tom Sawyer" - Rush; "Couldn't Stand The Weather" - Stevie Ray Vaughn; "The Great Gig In The Sky" - Pink Floyd; "Something" - Snarky Puppy/Lalah Hathaway

It was originally written by Anne Bredon in the late 1950s. Joan Baez recorded a solo version for her 1962 album and that is the version most others base their version on.

This song has as its main feature the idea of the Rambling Man. He's a figure from the folklore of the British Isles, the man who cannot stay, who is called by life to keep wandering always. Plant and Page were and are very deeply versed in the folklore of their country, and those ideas and images are all over their music. Plant is also a huge Ringer, so the influence of LOTR and Tolkien's stories crop up over and over in Zep's music, as well. You'll hear it most clearly on "Ramble On" and "Battle of Evermore", where he actually mentions characters from LOTR. (Oh, and _most_ of Robert's lyrics on the early albums are basically whining about how badly some woman is treating him. It took a couple of albums before he found something deeper or more complex to write about.)

The album cover is the famous image of the Hindenburg, a hydrogen filled dirigible airship from the 1930's. It was built by the Zeppelin company. The band members were - Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy Page (guitars), John Bonham (drums), John Paul Jones (bass)

John Entwistle n Kieth Moon of The Who were originally in the band. during rehearsal Entwistle said this is going to go over like a led zeppelin. Moon n Entwistle rejoined the Who and Page a Plant decided to call the band, Led Zepellin. The rest is history. Well actually, that's history too.
