When they were recording this track, there was a black Labrador Retriever that wandered around their house and they would feed it. When it came time to name the song, they couldn’t think of an obvious choice. Lo and behold, this dog wanders in and thus “Black Dog” became its name.

I came from a family that wasn't very musical. It wasn't something I grew up with. I was 15 and a freshman in high school on the bus home from an away soccer game. I was a 9th grader on the JV team and a senior on varsity put Led Zeppelin IV on his boom box. "Black Dog" starts and I'm blown away. After the song is over, I go to boom box guy and ask him, "Dude, what was that?". He looks at me with a weird expression on his face and says, "You don't know who Led Zeppelin is?". The rest, as they say, is history. Still my favorite band to this day.

Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill. Eyes that shine, burning red. Dreams of you all through my head. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Aaaaaahhhhh! Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby. Darling, make it do it now! Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby. Move me like you do it now! Didn't take too long for I found out. What people mean by "down and out". Spent my money, took my car. Started telling her friends she's gonna be a star. I don't know, but I been told, A big-legged woman ain't got no soul. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, ah, ah, ah. Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, ah, ah, ah. All I ask for, all I pray. Steady-loaded woman gonna come my way. Need a woman, gonna hold my hand. Will tell me no lies, make me a happy man. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Ah, ah, ah, ah. Aaaaaahhhhh!

"A big leg woman ain't got no soul", I sing this verse all the freaking time, it's burned in my brain! Probably from tripping too much and listening to this when I was a teenager! Fun times.....

That riff is ICONIC ill never forget the first time i heard it as a kid its stuck with me since, i will randomly hear it in my head becusse uts just so gooooooood!
@karlmonet8 күн бұрын
Yeah, hearing that riff on an 8-track in my brother's Monte was surreal at 13 years old. It hits just as hard now and Bonham hitting on headphones is just incredible.

Your inability to find good modern music isn't an excuse. You only listen to what's on the radio or don't understand music.

@@kona7043 No, they’re correct. Most, I say most because there is plenty of modern music that is excellent yes but for a big portion of it, it is just reinvented rubbish that doesn’t come close to bands like Led Zepplin. Name me a group today that is as ground breaking and original as Led Zepplin was and really still is.

Black Dog, um dos muitos clássicos imortais de uma das bandas mais icônicas de todos os tempos: vocais insuperáveis, cozinha dinâmica e um lead guitar ímpar! Led Zeppelin, senhoras e senhores!! 🎼🎶🎵

This song came out when I was in 8th grade and I loved it. Still do and it still sounds great. 50 years ago, dang. BTW, I've never really listened to this kind of music. But I always listened to Led Zeppelin. Thanks for posting this.
