Imagine being 19 years old and just having met your bandmates a month earlier and ripping this thing off in one take in the studio. What a band.
@twistonthat31865 жыл бұрын
Keyword: ripping. Zeppelin ripped a lot of people off. Dazed and Confused was a rip off. It disappointed me when I found out. I'm glad they did because they turned everything into gold. Don't look up the rip offs, it might ruin Led Zeppelin for you. Sorry for bringing it up.
@shaun3745 жыл бұрын
@@twistonthat3186 What exactly do you mean by "ripped off a lot of people"?
@twistonthat31865 жыл бұрын
@@shaun374 They stole a lot of lyrics and riffs. If you are a big Zeppelin fan, don't look it up. When I found out, they never sounded the same. If you have to, and I recommend you don't, search KZbin.
@shaun3745 жыл бұрын
@@twistonthat3186 People have been accusing them of that for years. This isn't new at all. 95% of it is totally bogus. It's also not fair to say they "stole" anything. Blues music, heck music in general especially in their era, was always heavily borrowed. What Zeppelin did was failed to give credit many times until they were forced to do so. Their most egregious time coming on their first album. Here's the thing, though: Zeppelin still sounds like Zeppelin. None of the songs they failed to credit properly until after the fact sound very much at all like what they "ripped off". So it's more like they were inspired by songs and artists at times. Should they have credited them? Absolutely. And their attempts to get out of it are funny considering how protective they are of their own catalog. But this idea that people have of almost everything they did was a rip off is completely off base. There's only a handful of songs that they did not credit until decades later.
@shaun3745 жыл бұрын
@@twistonthat3186 Should also be mentioned that they weren't alone in failing to give credit. Nor are they the worst offenders. Some of the biggest names in Blues are worse offenders of copying others and failing to give credit. Zeppelin did what everyone else was doing - they were simply so big and influential that people have spent the past 50 years scrutinizing every note of every song they ever played.

Here's a funny thing. Back in the day we'd be at someone's house partying and doing nothing all night but listen to music. Talk a little bit then listen to more music. Eat some munchies, smoke some weed then discuss a song or two then back to listening to music. Six or eight hours later we'd declare the party a success and go home. Oftentimes we'd listen to whole albums too. Mainly due to the fact we'd be too stoned to try to pick out just one track! And oh yeah, the lights were turned down low and maybe a black light was turned on. Led Zeppelin featured heavily in our parties. We all got hit in the face too!

And now it is not only considered classic rock and loved by millions, but is being newly discovered by the youth of today. There may be hope yet. Don't hide your right to rock !!! Introduce as many people to 60's and 70's music as you can. Most will walk away with the same expression and feeling as the presenter of this channel just did. Good music is just plain old GOOD. Just recently discovered reaction videos and been to about a dozen or so sites ( damn rona, been going crazy trying ways to stay busy) and just today, 7 days into my 65th year, found this. In the summer of 69 I was 13 and coming on 14. I was hitch hiking to the city from home next door to the farm (yes hitchin' was a popular mode of transportation then) and two guys in a 1960 Mercedes stopped, I got in the back seat and before we got out of cow country they sparked one up. Almost the same time it was laid to rest "Dazed and Confused" came on the stereo and got cranked UP. I was between the speakers and got the full impact of that opening bass line, uff da, and that was the first time I heard the tune. Today I just found this ,the first time I see someone else hear it for the first time. I may very well have looked the same you did. I also spent two weeks tossing hay bales around to get enough cash to buy a Marantz SR 3300 receiver and a set of Scott tower speakers and, after pissing off the old man got a set of Koss headphones. By the end of the year I added a turntable and fell into the rabbit hole. I think I still owe Columbia House for "Exile on Main Street" "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get".
