What other band could have a Reggae/Samba section as the bridge for the song with whistles and then a guitar solo with backwards echo effect and have it make any sense? 🔥

John Paul Jones and Robert got the samba beat inspiration from watching the FIFA World Cup matches being held in Argentina at the time.

THE LAYERS!!!!! this song just comes outta NOWHERE! the carnival influence right in the middle is incredible! you have to listen again and again to separate the genius of each instrument. glad you liked it. get ready for “all my love” (very sad song about the death of a family member.). THEN “i’m gonna crawl”. which is just…. so…. GOOD! the lip has its highs and lows. the highs certainly make up for the low moments.

May be my favorite Zeppelin cut. Fun fact: the original vinyl issue of this LP was wrapped in brown paper, like grocery sack wrap, with title fake-stamped on it. You couldn't see the actual album cover unless you pulled the paper off.

Probably their most underrated album. Not their best but definitely better than it's been given credit for. Songs like this one, South Bound Suarez and All My Love were so radically different for Zep that most Zep fans disliked this album at the time, including myself, lol. But over the years I've come to love these songs. My favorites from this album are probably I'm Gonna Crawl, Carouselambra and All My Love

I just got my life watching you get introduced to this song! This is my most sentimental Led Zeppelin song. It came out when I was a junior in high school and it was literally my favorite song of that year and is one of my all-time Led Zeppelin favorites. I have many, but this one is special to my heart. Yes they straight crank that first Part of the song is so funky. Then they go Caribbean in the middle and then that break down at the end is unmatched.

Easily one of my fav. tracks. Then you have Hot Dog, which goes back to the roots of rock 'n' roll and sounds like nothing Zep ever did before. Insane album. Thanks for sharing.

The drumming on this is just mind blowing and did you hear the bass guitar often joining that fuzzy guitar line? It really adds a whole bunch to the energy of it in that section. Next up, A Country Song! Hot dog is a fun and crazy twist on uptempo country rockabilly whatever it is, almost has a slight feeling of early Elvis Presley to it.

Loving your reaction to this album. This song is epic. The 3-verses-4 groove is one of Bonham's most infectious and challenging ones yet, though the band makes it sound easy. My favorite part is after the Samba breakdown in the middle when it comes back to the main groove, the tasty fills that Bonham throws in just before the guitar solo. The words to this song are amusing if you happen to pay attention to them as well.

Hey Bizzzz. Most old school Zep snobs like me could take or leave this record because it’s so unlike the others and lacks their “edge.” It’s fun to see someone enjoy it so thoroughly, gives me new perspective on “ITTOD.”
