Bonham and JPJ are so underrated as a team. Bonham gets so much attention (deservedly so), but it’s the interplay with him and JPJ that makes Zeppelin Zeppelin. The importance of a solid rhythm section cannot be overstated. Not to mention Jones’ multi-instrumental abilities and the scores he wrote later for their epic songs.

Haha I seriously don't remember that I asked you not to pause... it was in the beginning of your channel, so maybe you paused too much back then? I really don't remember. Great reaction and review! The band was still in its infancy, so just imagine being in that audience and hearing Led Zeppelin for the first time. I'm in awe how great their chemistry on stage was right from the beginning.

Led zeppelin were still very new here. Robert Plant had just turned 20 years old. Jimmy Page had previously played with the Yardbirds and How Any More Time had previously appeared with that band. Page also played the fiddle on "Dazed and Confused". This song was also released by the Yardbirds. The violin bow also appears on the studio version of both songs. After that band broke up, Page took over the band name and wanted to call his new band "the new Yardbirds". But then he gave it up and gave it the name Led Zeppelin. However, he still had concert commitments from the Yardbirds to fulfill and took them on with his new band. This concert was because of these commitments. But it helped to make the band, which was unknown until then, known. Page was already a celebrity back then, but Robert Plant and Bonham were only known in unknown bands where she lived.. Jones was already known in professional circles because he had worked as a studio musician in many productions of large bands. I was at a Jimmy Page and Robert Plant concert in 1998. They also played How Many More Time and Page tortured the guitar with the bow.

How dare you not giving that a 10! Lol! I’d say maybe 8.8 but that’s me. The “slop” maybe the degrade but the jam and call and response being sloppy was also amazing and something many never do anymore

14:54 was the climax of the song if you didn't know. its so wicked to me this type of climax is reoccurring in alot of led zeppelin songs that i have heard. me personally i think it has something to do with drugs because back then you know how people got down in the 70s anyway yeah the climax the way robert plant creates this trippy climax is probably because that's how he feels tripping.

Just out of curiosity, what have you graded a 10?
@THEDavidHeretic
@THEDavidHeretic Жыл бұрын
The only times I've ever given a 10 were for humanitarian reasons. For example, Eddie Vedder wrote a song for a child with a debilitating disease. He wrote the song to raise public awareness for the disease, then donated all of the proceeds of that single to research for the disease. Things like that, I have to give a 10.

You spoke of the crowd sitting down . Do you see the look on their faces ? The crowd has no idea what's going on. This is all brand new to everyone. When you have bands like The Who and Cream saying that it's too heavy . Then it's going to be heavy. Look at the movie TSRTS live at MSG. the crowd is mesmerized almost in a trance like state. Head banging wasn't the norm yet.

Zeppelin Good Times bad times by Yoyoka at 8. Musicians just can't stand it when they get showed up by an 8 year old girl. They thumbs down her. They can not stand it. She puts a smile on everybody's heart, if they have a heart. Technically great. Great rolls. Great on the pedals. Her giggle at the end melts your heart if you have one. She is 12 now and not stopping. Great loving family. Good enough to play in any band at that age and now. Judge her at higher levels. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2LTq2R7bdV0hbs

8.2 but you gave no real reason for that rating. You listed all of the limitations under which they performed, which shouldn't count against them, so what exactly were the deductions for in terms of their performance? For me, I give it a 9 specifically because as much as I love it when they improvise, I thought a tad bit of it didn't really enhance the song, and while I wouldn't call it "sloppiness", there was a quick bump during one transition phase. Otherwise, it was an excellent performance.

@@THEDavidHeretic Low end of "great". Still would like to hear exactly why they got that score from you. Not coming at this as a challenge to your opinion, just don't really know why you have it. What I heard from you was all that was good about it. Maybe I need to have another listen. ;)

I really, really do not understand the "don't pause" crowd. You're asking the reactor to save their thoughts till the end, which: A) Defeats the point of a *reaction*, robbing it of all spontaneity, B) Makes it less likely they will remember all the different thoughts and emotions the song provoked, especially if it's long or multi-faceted, and C) Eliminates the possibility of someone pausing before a major change-up, thus robbing us all of the chance to hear hilariously wrong predictions, as evidenced by many a reaction to Jinjer's Pisces. :-) Gotta think of the bigger picture here, folks!

'little sloppy there'.. I'll take Page's sloppiness over 99% of the note perfect shredders out there. It gives humanity to the guitar solos. 8.2..... to one of the most historic amazing live performances of all time. complete BS. love ya man but I dare you to put the other songs you ranked near 8.2 and compare those to this song. There is no way it's that low. And I am NOT a led zeppelin purist who thinks everything they did is a 10. looking at your own scale.. there is no planet where this performance is not at least "AWESOME, AMAZING"

Did you miss the part where I explained that I wouldn't be taking the song into account at all, because I knew I had heard the song before? The score was based completely on the live performance, mostly the visuals.

It's not metal though, (Jimmy Page rejected that label for it) and LZ could and did do a range of music genres. Their early music was very blues influenced and a mix of blues and rock. LZ III was more acoustic including folk influences. After that they progressed with more influences but still kept a rock and roll basis to their music. Here Plant is only just 20 and the others not much older. They were bringing the blues music they listened to growing up with to a wider audience.
