Okay I think you're ready for it now. 1973" Dazed and Confused" live at Madison Square Garden. 26 minutes of unbelievable guitar , mind blowing bow work , thunderous drums and rapid beat with John Paul Jones bumping on the bass .it's a must see.The ESP kind of improvision throughout is unlike anything you have ever seen. It is probably the best live recorded song that has ever been done by any band. Just one of many reasons why they are the greatest band to ever grace the stage. they were then, they are today and they will forever be tomorrow, 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯💯🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🥁🥁🥁🎹🎹🎹🎤🎤🎤🎤

I love the story regarding Robert Plant who was married, had a child and was 19 yrs old. He and his wife agreed that if his singing career didn’t work out by his 20th birthday, he would go into teaching. He auditioned for Jimmy Page prior to his 20th birthday, was hired, and the rest is Rock and Roll history!

You Know back in the 60's there were no computers or the technology we have today....artist and musicians had to make up different sounds using their instruments, always experimenting with other objects and their instruments to make the right type sounds that expressed or add to the song. Here is Led Zeppelin like other groups of that day....doing this.
@theseeker4642

As a musician myself whon never sought fame, I totally agree. They had to improvise & learn their craft, recordings were done in one take as studio time cost money most bands just couldn't afford to make a mistake & do another take. They played the shitty little bars & took the abuse etc & put in their full apprenticeships. This song is based on The Hunter sung best by the Brit band Free, later Bad Company with Paul Rodgers on vocals in both bands,

This was recorded on 17th March, 1969 at Radio Danmark in Copenhagen, so Robert and Bonzo were 20 (the record version was recorded in October, 1968). They already had all the tools, the chops, the tricks, the ability, the VOICE... it took another 3 years to gain the charisma that they carry to this day. Good on you, Pope for sticking with them. PS It was a cello bow, more sturdy than a violin bow. Peace and be safe.

Just imagine turning up to this show, their first show, & being slapped in the face with this, when no one else on the planet was doing anything like it in 1969. You can see why they became one of the 'Pillars of Rock'. As others have stated, the next video should be 'Dazed & Confused' ( the 29 minute version) from the MSG show in 1973. @@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 There is a soundbaord from the Texas Pop Festival that is as good as it gets . I mainly like the 1968 show because the drums are louder than anything else in the mix . But the general quality of sound is pretty ragged . The film of the Yardbirds doing " Im Confused " is sort of a missing piece , too . I even had a whole album by the folk singer who wrote the song , but it was pretty average .

This film seems to suggest that Page was playing better in 1969 than in 1973 when the SONG REMAINS show was filmed . A serious rival to Hendrix . The song - with a slightly different title - is by blues legend HOWLIN WOLF Burnett . This is probably the best filmed performance of JOHN BONHAM . Watch how he slams his drum kit around ...

Little tribute to Jeff Beck here... that Telecaster Page is playing was a gift from Jeff Beck, in thinks for Page recommending Beck for the role as The Yardbirds guitarist after Eric Clapton quit the band in 1965. Page was their first option, but he was still enjoying the fruits of being England's premier session guitarist (and building up an arsenal of ideas that he took with him to Zeppelin). The band liked Page's recommendation and hired Beck, who gifted Page with that guitar as thanks. The year later, 1966 Page also joined the Yardbirds, initially as bassist and soon joining Beck in a dual lead-guitar line-up that only lasted a few months in 1966, until Beck was sacked for being too temperamental and unreliable. The band's only album with Page turned out to be their last gasp and the band imploded in 1967 leaving Page wanting more. So he got together replacements and called the new band The New Yardbirds, which fulfilled contractual tour obligations for Scandinavia and the UK in 1968 before being forced to drop the moniker by Yardbirds singer Keith Relf. So the band changed their name to Led Zeppelin, and did this. This recording is indeed one of their earliest televised appearances, recorded in Copenhagen in March 1969, when the band was only six months old.
