Their name came from a comment made by Keith Moon of The Who, who once said the band would go down like a lead balloon. A Zeppelin is a type of rigid airship named after the German inventor Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin who pioneered rigid airship development at the beginning of the 20th century.

@@ElokHsu It was, the only draw back was there are bands that I didn't get to see live. One big one was Led Zeppelin, they played Madison Square Garden a number of times in the mid '70s and I never managed to get tickets. Another was Pink Floyd, was supposed to go see them in 1977 but a friend of mine, who I gave the money for tickets to, never got them.

This song is the closest Led Zeppelin came to scoring a #1 hit. This one hit # 2 😍 Actually, the 1st metal song was done by The Beatles Helter Skelter
@johnwalsh9144
@johnwalsh9144 Жыл бұрын
It was released as a single by the label (as most know, the band hated releasing singles, which handicapped any chances of toping pop charts), SOrry but I think you are in the minority if you consider Helter Skelter pre-metal! Beatles were one of a kind and top almost every list, have the largest and most impressive catalogue, great song writers, re-invented themselves 3-4 times, but no comparison live or as top tier musicians.

Hi Elik! This is my first visit to your channel and i have to say I am impressed! I understand this is your first reaction to a Led Zeppelin song, so I won't hit you with a bunch of requests because their entire catalogue is so diverse and amazing! You are right, that this song was in Thor: Ragnarok! I look forward to watching you on your journey through this and other bands, and while you are correct that Led Zeppelin is one of the best bands ever, there are other groups up there at the top including The Beatles, Queen and Pink Floyd, so look forward to getting around to them one day in the future! Hi Elok, Led Zeppelin is a Great Band but another British band is The Clash ( nick named the only band that matters) and the song to start with would be "London Calling". Led Zeppelin was easily the biggest and most influential group of the three you mentioned. One reason is because Zeppelin was never really a heavy metal band. They were much more diverse than that. But they did play many heavy metal songs. But you have to give Deep Purple and Black Sabbath their props. The songs I like by those other two groups I really like. Just not as much as Zeppelin songs and they don't have as many songs as Zeppelin I really like.

Great to see you “getting the Led out” on your channel! The video is of the band playing a gig in Australia, but the audio is from an American show. You will find Led Zeppelin quite different from Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, as Jimmy Page was heavily influenced by British folk music, so their albums were a mix of pile driving rock like this track and shimmering acoustic guitar numbers that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a Pentangle record. Led Zeppelin III had a large number of acoustic songs, so some of their fans were worried that they were getting soft. Luckily, Zeppelin never turned its back on the heavy stuff. The untitled fourth album is my favourite. I’m looking forward to seeing what you react to next. Rock on! 🤘🏻

@John Cornell Absolutely! The version of “Whole Lotta Love” they played on one of the nights at Knebworth in 1979, which is featured on that 2003 double DVD release, is a good example of how well they could groove. It must be a revelation to young people to hear music which wasn’t played to a click track, nor were the musical parts then digitally manipulated to land exactly on the beat. For me, modern production techniques suck all of the life out of recorded music. Give me the old stuff, as it has feel and swings!

Are you a newbie to the greatest band to ever grace the stage?? I see this is your first zeppelin song reaction.Forgive me if I am mistaken. So I am going to assume that you are a true newbie, so let me say that Led Zeppelin music is unmistakably unique and different. Every song has it’s own vibe. From Rock , R&B ,Blues, funk, folk, country, soul , Reggae,gospel, you will hear it all, so here’s a few starter songs for you. All these songs are from the movie soundtrack from the 1973 live performance at Madison square garden. “The Song Remains the Same/ The Rain Song “ 1973 live at MSG( you must react to both songs as a single reaction) they need to be played as one song.“Stairway to Heaven “ , Rock and Roll”, Since I’ve been loving you”, Whole latta love “ . Then go to some studio recordings. “Kashmir” Babe I’m gonna leave you”, Dazed and Confused” Going to California” The Lemon song”. Thank You” Tea for one” Nobody’s Fault but Mine”. I could go on and on because there are no bad zeppelin songs. Only timeless masterpieces. Jimmy Pages creativity combined with John Bonhams thundering drums, triplets and fills,John Paul Jones extreme versatility on bass and keyboards. And of course Robert Plant and his ability to mimic pages guitar riffs. And provide the screams of a banshee at times, all just reasons why they were then, they are now, and will forever be the greatest band ever.

Oh my God, thank you so much for telling me these! I am actually a true newbie, and it was my first reacting to Led Zeppelin. Even so, I just knew from the bottom of my heart that I would love them! They are insane! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyouu! 🤍

@@ElokHsu welcome to the rabbit hole. Once you slip in it is impossible to get out. The hole is deep with lots of twists and turns along the way. Warning there will come a point to where you will realize that this band is really good, you hear a song and say ,”ok this is my favorite song” Then you hear another and it becomes your favorite. Just when you are sure that it couldn’t get any better. You hear another song , and it just gets better every time. Because each song touches you in a different way. They all become favorites.By this time you will be totally intrigued and cannot wait to see what direction the next song brings.Now your a fan and you will feel the need to start at the beginning (Led Zeppelin 1) then listen to each album in the order they were released. This is the only way to truly understand the growth of these 4 equally talented masterful musicians,and the different creative direction each of the records have. You also need to keep in mind that in 1968-75 no band has ever composed music mixing old Blues style with the heavy thunder and powerful lead guitar creativity that Jimmy Page introduced. Playing their instruments in ways that have never been done before. Inspiring every musician that was to follow. Opening a doorway that before never existed. In a way I’m jealous that you can listen to their complete catalog of music back to back. When I heard my first song I was 10 years old 1972 my older sister would play the first album over and over. Then we would have to wait for maybe 1 year to hear the next new record. Only to be totally blown away with the new music. And now you couldn’t wait until another album was released. Each record is uniquely different from each other. Now will will be a “Led Head” and with this new found knowledge of how instrumental Led Zeppelin were back then. And they still are today and will be tomorrow. No other band in history has this influence. That is why they are the greatest band then , the greatest band now and will forever be
