I’m saying I saw them in the mid 70’s, sadly I didn’t get the chance to see Led Zeppelin, my favorite band.

Those who criticize Jimmy Page are just pissed bc they’ll never reach his height of TALENT! He was self taught, played mostly by ear, played with raw emotion and was/is sexy as hell! In order for you to be justified in criticism, you must go out and foresee what will happen with radio, be a solid in-demand sessions player, learn production techniques and engineering in a studio, get off your ass and find 3 other master musicians, record your first album in 30 hours and be on tour with it within 2 months, play your ass off & gain popularity where supply will never meet demand-extra concert dates, bigger & bigger venues then sell half a billion records-all within ten to twelve years! GTFOH Rock on Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Forever!!🤘🏻

Wow, you've really got a giant thing for Jimmy Page. Who 'are' all these people who criticise him? I'm not doubting you that they're there but I've just never come across one - ever. I for one, if toned down just a tad, agree with you entirely about his guitar talent, working ability, production skills and, well, being a heterosexual male I just can't call him "sexy as hell" though for many of the feminine gender I'm sure he was/is. He certainly did a fine job in finding (well they all did really, as they found each other) - Page found Plant who told him of Bonham and JPJ heard that Page was getting a new band together and said that he's available if they need a bass player. A truly serendipitous event, those four coming together, no?

For all those who see Jimmy Page as sometimes playing a bit too "sloppy" (namely live)…well, here is a slide guitar performance for the ages, utterly nailing hundreds of chords and notes with surgical and emotional precision. Indeed, this stuff is way, way off the charts. We're taking serious alien territory. And ultimately, for a number of reasons, what you see here is very likely THE greatest live performance by a rock band in rock-n-roll history. Watch it again. Think about it. Done.

Page would often (modestly!) say that they were four master musicians at the top of their game but it's absolutely true. You can listen to this over and over and say to yourself 'right, I'm going to give Bonzo my attention' or 'I'm going to give JPJ my attention' and you'll hear in every one of them something special. It's epic today. 40 odd years ago it must've been other worldly...

Well put. Some people just don't get it. Never will. It was the sum of all of them. Each brilliant in their own right. To me it was the songs and the production. For example, there's plenty of brilliant guitarists. Or bands with good this or good that but then they write these dim wit songs. Zeppelin were just flat out the best.

That's not always true for him, but as others have pointed out, his real contribution is that the band created music and a sound that have had unequaled impact, probably like no other rock band. These guys brought the hard rock style to it's definitive form. Nobody really added anything after them.

Yes I must chime in here and say that Zeppelin is vastly underrated- not overated as so many critics charge. As time creeps forward 100 years or more we may finally understand that Zeppelin were the great talent of this generation- not the Beatles- althought they have their genius too- not the Stones- not even the great Hendrix- Zeppelin will be the most often mentioned talent of the 20th century.

Sorry but overrated, great skill but their first four albums are basically stolen there, riffs, lyrics, whole songs, they don't deserve to be as popular.
@joaoluca91415 жыл бұрын
People say Zeppelin stole a lot but stole exactly how much and from whom? Like they did wrote 90% of their songs. They did steal only seconds of some songs and, in other cases, songs in itself. But they did gave the credits for covers when the levee breaks and I can't quit you. But they did not gave credits for folk popular songs because no one actually wrote then after all( yeah someone did wrote it but no one know whom, like the baby I'm gonna leave you stuff that they did credited it after someone discovered the real writer).

maybe not so much here but he also foots his high hats at a blistering pace at times freeing a hand to work other magic. Such a basic kit- such thunderous magic he makes with it !
@neilmoneymaker48753 жыл бұрын
Yes John Bonham used single bass throughout his playing days. I learned on single pedal still have the first pedal I bought with my first kit, 1972 Tama Camco single bassdrum pedal. I also have and play a double pedal, the Demonator Pearl makes. But I agree, one should learn to play single pedal bass drum, 3-5 yrs or more before venturing into double bass playing. Just an opinion. One more thing everyone thinks or believes because one has a 4 or 5 piece kit without many cymbals that the drummer isn't as skilled or can't be very good or play certain music. All total bullshit!! A drummer doesn't need a fucking 15 piece double bass drum kit with 15 cymbals to be skilled, or to play metal or whatever. Even musicians make these assumptions and they're complete B.S. I've been playing 30+ yrs on drums alone and I can tell u, I can take a 4 piece single bass drum kit with hi hats, crash, and ride and playing some Rush songs and sound just fine, not all, but some. Don't need a ginormous kit to play, just experience and confidence.
