While this may not be swing, it definitely flows and has rhythm. Any one who thinks Bonzo couldn’t swing doesn’t have the ear to notice this. The Thunder God chose to play rock and rhythm. This Ginger Baker fully new, respected and appreciated. Put those two together side by side everyone can’t help but watch and be entertained. RIP Bonzo, Ginger 🤝👏🍻

11:26 JPJ is like he says "hey welcome, come in" how amazing... eargasmic
It's brilliant, when Jonesy & his musical partner (Bonzo), come together @ 10.00, then Jimmy comes in. Real jazzy/rock fuse. A true masterpiece. Every one of them consummate musicians. Not forgetting Robert with his vocal skills when the boys have their fun. Perfect.

I've seen plenty of LZ bootlegs on YT and I've seen all the obligatory comments about how good they are, and I didn't think I'd make one, but I have to after hearing this. JPJ's look at 11:25 is awesome when Jimmy Comes in with the heavenly rhythm. This performance seriously shows their power as a band! They read each other perfectly. And pretty spontaneously make something that is just incredible. JPJ's keyboard in the first half has amazing direction and you think he's leaving home base with the gospel/blues sound, but then he perfectly ties it back into the No Quarter feeling. And don't get me started on Jimmy's soloing - just incredible! Some people call him sloppy and say he just regurgitates some blues licks, and I admit it's not perfectly clean but this is seriously the stuff of visionaries. He plays so intentionally and with so much feeling I can't believe it. Imagine if Robert Plant's voice was still in the condition it was in the early days, but with the band playing like this.

All 5 verions of No quarter from the EC run are amazing . This one along with the 23rd and 25th are fantastic but my favorite is May 18th with May 17th a close second. This 2 versions are very unique . They have a vibe a feel and a mood to them never heard on any prior version or on any versiom after . The 17th seems like the trial run for that type of No Quarter and the 18th was the perfected version but they never played it like that again .. No Quarter was their most consistent song from 73 onwards in terms of performance quality. 77 and 79 had great versions as well.

How a version of No Quarter didn't make it onto the Zep DVD still blows my mind . They have at a minimum of 7 high quality live versions on Film/video and multi track audio tapes for all 7. They have 3 from New York 73. At least 2 from Earls Court May 24th and 25th as well as both versions from Knebworth 79 which are both fantastic even the one from the August 11th. Its one of the bright spots from that show . They may even have video and multi track audio for the first 3 Earls Court Shows which would give them as many as 10 versions on video and Pro recorded audio. Page himself said in an interview there is a version of No Quarter from Earls Court he described as being exceptional . He didn't say exaclty which one though .

John Paul Jones was/is the best musician in Led Zepplin. And I guarantee you he was the level head that stopped little "ados" about how get the right sound, lay the tracks properly and effectively produce the legendary Zepplin sound. He could play all of the instruments and could match Page on guitar if he chose to do so. He had proven this before, during and after Led Zeppelin. It is a shame that Plant and Page went on without him for a while. As he famously said on the David Letterman Show, wwhen he was was asked one question (to the best of me recollection) JPJ simply answered "I don't know, they have my number." You know the question.

Jimmys tone on the Solo was fantastic very woody and warm . Creamy and Smooth on the low strings with that dry somewhat dirty but mostly clean tone and the treble stringg have just the right amount of bite and cut without beeing to harsh or piercing. This wasnt always the case when Page Played this live after 73 . On many 75 versions the guitar tone is too clean and lacks saturation . His tone is often thin way to dry brittle and harsh and the bass strings often very thin and far too nasal but he sounds great . Not quite as good as his 1973 tone for this song but much better than the 1975 North American tour

John Paul Jones had the biggest part in the composition of this song as a matter of fact it was quite different when he started working on it in 1972 and it wasn't until 1973 that it took the shape that we know and love.
