An absolutely filthy groove. Perfect JPJ. I put Jack Bruce's bass work from the live version of Crossroads on Strange Brew as my next favorite from around that era, although it's played in a completely mood. Obviously, there are other faboulous artists' works, but those two just stick out for me.

This song was recorded in one take, LZ was just fiddling around in the studio. It’s heavily influenced by the song “Killing Floor” by Howlin’ Wolf and the line squeeze (my lemon) till the juice runs down my leg," can be traced to Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues"from 1937.

Thank you for saying that! I feel less alone now. I am someone who deeply feels the instrumentation and rhythms of a song but also think the lyrics are equally important and complete the feel of the song. Doesn't mean I catch everything the first time I hear a song, but it also doesn't mean I'm not paying attention to the lyrics and feeling the melody at the same time either. People will attack in the comments, saying it's impossible to do both at the same time because of the way the brain works.

Actually, like so many early Zeppelin songs, it didn't mean anything. It was a mishmash of lyrics lifted from earlier bluesmen overlaid onto blues-rock guitar-scapes created by Jimmy Page with the rhythmic backing of Bonham and Jones. But it sounds great!

The album this is from, Led Zeppelin II, is one of those albums that you just put on, grab a refreshment, lay back, close your eyes, and let it play in its entirety. I would LOVE for you to react to Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick" off of this same album. It has one of the best drum solos of all time.

Lex...yeah his children left on the floor...priceless. LED was my fav band as a teen. Top hard rock band ever. Yes HARD rock was what it was called. Metal wasnt a thing yet and def not the same. Most talented 4 guys to ever form a band. Back in the day there was this thing called a quadrophic stereo sound system. If u had a quadrophic tape u could split off the music to it's on speaker and highlight whichever u wanted. Each member of Led was a virtuoso talent. Ty for your reaction guys. Best miss matched reaction couple on U tube but it works so well for you. Your differences compliment each other perfectly. Brad...stay light brother...you won the prize. Cherish her smiles everyday.
