D’ailleurs la saison records des Canadiens de Montréal 1976-77 avec 60 victoires, 8 descentes et 12 parties nulles jouées dans le Temple du hockey tiens toujours. Mais revenons à cette soirée mémorable, soirée infusée de hashish et de riffs de Jimmy Page. Trois mois auparavant, soit le 15 déc. 1974 j’avais assisté à mon premier spectacle à vie au Forum, celui de Genesis qui présentais son album Selling England by the Pound. Je les avaient vu l’année précédente à l’Université de Mtl. Anyway, de nombreux spectacles ont suivi par la suite. The good old days…

I remember showing a friend, a new Zep fan, the video of Earl's Court and before Over The Hills started I told him Jimmy's going to throw down some of the greatest guitar leads ever conceived, ignore that a pay attention to the Bozo & Jones skull crushing rhythm section back-beat extraordinaire. He was rightfully sore amazed.

I just want to cry right now. I live in Montreal, and this was happening in the same city that I live in, and I freak'n missed it. Of coarse I was 12 years old at the time, but holly crap. Unfortunately when I was 16, and waiting for Led Zeppelin to return to the Montreal Forum, John Bonham had passed away. I remember that day like it was yesterday. A small 1" x 1" picture was in the newspaper. I was devastated, and this is why this is so dear to me. Thank you Speedy.

It is because LZ manager Peter Grant was notorious for sending goons out into the audience to catch bootleggers. Cameras that could film weren't small back then either.

@@da324, we are lucky. I saw the Ramones, Van Halen and Sabbath at the Omni in Atlanta in 78. Then VH headline the Fox Theatre in 79 on the VHII tour. Just amazing.

@2high2die Yea, I saw their tours up through Fair Warning, and the VHII was my favorite (still have that shirt). I really like Sammy Hagar in Montrose and his solo stuff, but overall, I never cared much for his stint with VH. We were fortunate for sure!

This is just incredible to the core and ends of the earth - they were simply incredible live. The energy, musicianship and power is there. Idk why, but when I saw Bonzo all lit up wailing and pounding the tar out of the drums during Moby Dick - I not only got goosebumps all over - I just started to weep. Bonham was so incredible and the crowd was going bonkers during his drum solo - at multiple points - they knew how good he was and were honored to watch him hammer the piss out of the drums. What a mind-blowing video and audio - bootleg you've put together here. Thanks so much for your efforts and time -- to all involved in this endeavor.

This was the last time Zeppelin ever played in Montreal. I wish to death I could say I was there, but alas, I was too young to go. I had my tickets booked by a friends mother who worked at TRS Outlets for the next show in Montreal scheduled on October 27 1980, but we all know what happened on September 25 of that year to sadly put the kybosh on the North American leg of the 1980 tour and consequently the rest of their careers. Thank you sooooo much for posting this footage. I have known about this date ever since I started listening to them in 1977 and have been curious on everything about it, like what they were wearing, song order and so forth. I have many Zeppelin bootlegs on vinyl, but this video put a lot into perspective for me as a fan and a musician. Just knowing I was somewhere in the city while this was being performed has to be good enough for me now. If we only had a time machine, right?

That's awesome and sad at the same time. The loss of Bonzo was so terrible and heartbreaking. It was Oct 17th, 1980 that you would have seen Led Zeppelin, if Bonzo had lived.

This was so enjoyable, thanks for getting it out ! I love the pre-show build up of excitement, such great footage. One thing that stands out is how Bonzo isn't bashing the drums, he plays with great control and economy of movement. He obviously hits hard but he's not slaying the drums. It's a controlled burn, he knew to keep some reserve power for a 3 hour show . People who call him a basher are idiots.

Absolutely Incredible! The audience recording combined with this genuine seating position really gives the impression that you're there. One of the most real videos of Led Zeppelin out there. The bootleg vinyl for this gig was called Ledgerdomain, and I used to think it was average in sound quality, but synched with this video it couldn't be better.

I've always loved this version of the OTHAFA solo - I've always suspected Page broke a string right at the start of it, because instead of beginning the solo, he plays some outro chords and JPJ begins a ~20 second bass solo before Page comes back in and starts the solo. Cool to see the footage confirming this, as Page starts to walks off to swap guitars around 10:15.

One thing I always notice when watching the real John Bonham is how strong he was and how hard he was hitting. When you hear Jason imitate his father you can hear the difference. I wish Jason would add some effects to give his drums more thunder. Of course, John had a lot of flange and phaser he liked to put on the drums but he still was pounding the hell out of them. No amount of effect is going to reproduce the natural harmonics coming out of the drums when you hit them that hard.

Something else to consider is that modern drum Kits just don't have the huge sound back in 70s . Modern kits sound alot more Compressed and don't have the depth. Jason needs to dig out some of his Father's old Kits if they still exist.

Yes, the tour started in the Winter, and his voice was shot all thru February & March. The 2/14 NYC Nassau Coliseum was dubbed 'The Valentines Day Massacre'
