This concert movie ("The Song Remains the Same") mixes in cinematic fantasy sequences--one for each band member. This is Robert Plant's. Jimmy Page's is during "Dazed and Confused". John Paul Jones during "No Quarter". John Bonham's during "Moby Dick". The film starts with a sequence involving band manager Peter Grant & road manager Richard Cole. It shows the band assembling to travel to New York for the concert. It also chronicles a real-life robbery that took place at the band's hotel. Filmed in 1973 over 3 nights at Madison Square Garden, it wasn't released until 1976, while the band was on hiatus following a car accident involving Robert Plant & his family. A soundtrack album was released as well.

JPJ is a very underrated master musician, both on bass and keyboards. Jimmy switches between 6 and 12 string guitar with such ease. John on drums was unmatched. And of course Robert on vocals is so powerful, and these together made Led the premier rock band. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were masters of switching the tempo in many of their songs, and this made the listener pay more attention to them, and made it more exciting. And the rabbit hole gets deeper for you. Enjoy ✌️😎

You should try the live version of "In my time of dying" from Earl Court. About the footage, the guy who made the video use different version of the film (that's why some part are in bad quality) to show as much as he could of the live performance. That's why you can't really understand the story in The song Remain the Same, part of the story is cut and replaced by old live footage

This is my favorite part of this concert/film. I watch n listen over n over. Been a zep fan since i was 13 and heard zep 4 as my introduction. Was a very psychedelic kid proud of it. Zep n floyd. I was born a year b4 this concert. Same time dark side of the moon came out. Probably what drew me to this crazy planet. Hey.. Quit pausing the video once enough...kidn. Future investigate these performances n albums from these bands usually there is something deeper than a single track or viewing will explain. Its like reading a paragraph in the middle of a book and judging the whole thing from a paragraph. Its good u did get it toward the end. What a moment in rain song.. Dude plant is a poet/ roger waters too. Yes the album version is magic ..plant is a vocal musician so he had to sing/play along with page. Live he had to improvise and flow...front man mojo... As where floyd kinda made the light show the mojo. Zep didnt. Thats kinda the difference other than their styles. Which is like comparing apples and bananas. Hey ..yes eat mushrooms.. Food of the gods. Psilocybin is good for us.

gothmog9407 I read that the song was written by Plant as a remembrance of his girlfriend, who ten years before, when he was 17 told him he had to choose between her or his music. Lucky for us he followed his muse and his destiny. He has paid a price for his driven creativity and wanderlust.....but as he himself has said “show me a happy writer and I’ll show you a bad writer”. He has lived an amazing life, but it hasn’t been an easy one

Jimmy Page is a totally unique guitarist in that so many songs it's true that the solo starts when the song starts. It ends when the song ends. This is a great example. I remember well when this movie came out. Saw it at a midnight showing. What a party that was! At first I hated the non-concert parts but now it's ok. When I saw them live in 1975 & 1977 and heard this song it was awesome...of course!

Album 1 from Physical Graffiti. EVERY song is amazing. Trampled Underfoot and In my Time of Dying you can find live from the 1977 concert which are awesome. All the little videos are in the actual vhs movie at the time. This concert is from 73 but the vhs didn't come out until 75. The Song Remains the Same was one of the films that they ALWAYS played during midnight madness on Friday and Saturday Nights in certain movie theaters. This, The Wall, Rocky Horror. Clockwork Orange. Eraserhead.

Jimmy Page live was always busy riffing throughout the entire show. They would go into extended jams during songs for several minutes. The video pieces are from the concert video “song remains the same” were each member has a fantasy character. For this song it was the swashbuckler as portrayed by Robert Plant.

This is why I always say research this song before you play it or react to it. It’s band gets a little segment of their own kind a like fantasy movie like theme. These are confused it was Jimmy’s being the wizard, Robert Plant he’s kind of the the white night rescuing the princess. John Paul Jones has is almost like Jack the ripper, and doing Moby Dick which is John Bonham’s drum solo he’s a drag car racer.

Well, Detrucci, what you have here is two...two...two songs in one! Ist Song same title as the Film: "The Song Remains the Same" IN CONCERT AND BEYOND The "Fantasy Sequences" were part of the Film, not added to this KZbin Video. The Fantasy Sequence were not originally planned for the movie, but came about out of necessity. Cameraman errors resulted in portions of the Concert not being filmed, but Audio Recordings intact. Thus, they needed to create material to fill in the missing video sequences. Each member plus manger Peter Grant were given slots to produce and create their own fantasy sequence. As any true Zep Fan will tell you, viewing that Concert Film is a LIFE CHANGING MOMENT for all who see it for the 1st time! It then becomes the film we've seen more often than any other in our lifetimes. I was 14 in 1976 when TSRTS was released. I'm sure I have seen it 1000 times or more in 44 years. And I am SO HAPPY to see the Kids of today discovering the CLASSIC MUSIC of the 20th Century! CHEERS!✌🍁✌

Budgie was a major influencer for bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains and others, the first 5 albums of the band are pure heavy rock of the 70's. The Who is an iconic classic rock band, I suggest songs like "Won't get fooled again", "Baba o'riley", "Behind blue eyes", etc. I bacame a subscriber of your channel when you opened your mind out of 2 or 3 bands. Jimmy plays lead like a rhythm player. And vice a versa. His ability to switch between lead and rhythm is key to the bands sound. The “fantasy” sequence of the movie “the song remains the same “ were there to replace lost footage of them playing at the Garden. It’s just basically filler.

When watching the Song Remains the Same each member of the band including the manager in the beginning did a sort of video during one of the songs about whatever. Yeah Page did this every concert. Many of the solos had extended made up on the spot part thus no concert was the same from night tonight. But I think thats why he got the reputation of being a "sloppy" guitar player. Well of course your going to be a little sloppy if your making up crap on the spot each night. But he was always more concerned about the vibe and feel of what he played than being perfect. Also, later the heroin started taking it's toll. Another reason I say stay away from the 79 live stuff for a bit. Just not the same quality of the stuff earlier. This concert and the stuff on you tube from 1977 is Zeppelin at it's peak. Very early stuff is good too but not as good as the stuff from say 71-77. They just did not record a lot of their live stuff. Much of it is taken from bootlegs.

All the good people out there if you want to watch a good getting stoned movie and you want to learn something about led Zeppelin watch the movie The song remains the same live in Madison square garden and added to the movie you'll learn the real personalities of the four band members
