Achilles Last Stand. 😊 proggy Zep...sorta. But mainly for the Pagey guitar army and Bonzo's all-around tasty taps.

Wow. I grew up with these guys. They are electric! Robert Plant used to live here in Austin for several years. My daughter, then a sophomore at UT, ran into Robert Plant while walking down the street. They stopped to wait to cross the street. They exchanged pleasantries. Like "How's your day going?" That kind of stuff. My daughter was only 20 back then but she knew exactly who he was. Of course, she did not ask for his autograph. Let him be him. Be a regular person. That's my daughter. ❤

When you watch this movie, you shake your head in disbelief to think they considered this show mediocre. They'd toured Europe first before two American legs. This is one of the last two shows. They were exhausted. Can you imagine when they were ON ?

I was fortunate enough to see them on their Presence tour (1977). Opened with "The Song Remains The Same"; closed with a blazing "Rock And Roll"; 3+ hours of pure Zeppelin magic in between (including "Trampled Under Foot", "Going To California" and "Kashmir").

robert's voice had lot a bit of both it's strength and range by the time Song Remains the Same was recorded, unfortunately, you need to see live footage from 1969-1971 only, unfortunately, to catch his voice live in top form.
@sicotshit70682 күн бұрын
Their live performances are always better longer solos, with added vocals/lyrics. This song came about, because Bonham was getting frustrated trying to play Four Sticks. He took a break from that, & started pounding out this, the others jumped in. They were still recording, so they got it, & we got two songs instead of one. Immigrant song opened their concerts early on, Rock & Roll took over then. At the beginning, Bonham yells out, Alright Let’s Go!

When I saw this movie back then I thought Robert's voice was strained, his range limited, but it's still a monster of a song. Drum intro from 'Keep-A Knockin' ' by Little Richard.

The vocals are absolutely better on the studio, which was 1971. Plant blew his voice out mid-‘72 and never again hit THOSE notes again, while still remaining the premier rock vocalist. That’s greatness.
@stevemoss7793Күн бұрын
I'm not qualified to speak as to the quality of Robert's voice, but I can definitely make out the lyrics better on the live version.
@36karpatoruskiКүн бұрын
@ the most recent studio remastering has vocals set further back in the recording mix than the original recording, and the live version is also recorded quite “vocals forward.”

You're a drummer, learn the roots. :-) Bonham did the opening drum riff as a homage to Little Richard's drummer on the opening to hisw "I Hear you Knockin But You Can't Come in."
