Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I visited John Bonham's grave a few weeks ago. I am over 50 and saw these guys in '75 Earl's Court and '79 twice at Knebworth. i still cry for Bonzo. No-one has come close in 30 years. This is one of those songs that just rocks out whenever you listen to it.

I agree. My firends and I went into a deep depression when we heard he had passed away. My parents kept me out of school for days. It was no joke! We knew that was it for Zeppelin. We knew we'd never have the chance to ever see all four members live on stage again. It shattered my heart.

I saw them in Birmingham, Alabama that year. In the front of the mob, I took pictures that i still look at, and still can hardly believe I was there. I was truly blessed to see them, and still celebrate May 18th as Zeppelin's Day. I was living in Chattanooga, and my folks let me lay out of school to go out of town for it. Every other time I watch this - I see Bonzo pounding the tar out of the drums, lifting and crashing his sticks on those cymbals and drums with authority and Jimmy so effing giddy and jumping towards Bonzo -- I fucking just breakdown and weep like a baby ! I can't help it. They were so talented and bigger than life. Bonzo was getting better and better. It's such a shame they didn't make it into the 80s and gave live versions of Carouselambra, Fool in the Rain, In the Evening, etc from US venues. It's just a shame. I can barely see with all the sweat in my eyes. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ This video montage and Mike Millard's recoding from June 23rd, 1977 are priceless and phenomenal ! They were incredible - irreplaceable - beautiful - complicated - the Devil in the details - power, mystery and the hammer of the gods ! ❤❤❤❤

There is no better rock band that has the talent of LED ZEPPELIN and there never will be. This band was so far ahead of their time. In 1977 just starting high school and Led Zeppelin was the only band I really listened to and the only music that talked to me. Because of LED ZEPPELIN, mainly Bonzo, was the reason I bought a drum kit and played for years in Detroit. Music that comes out now is all fluff and plastic compared to the music of LED ZEPPELIN. Times Change. Thanks for the memories....

Few show biz fans realize they named the band "Led Zeppelin" and then after Jimmy heard (I'm guessing again as usual) that this new band was just an Atlantic Records big hype job, they named the publishing company "Superhype Publishing". That shows to me that they didn't think they were God's gift to the rock and roll world.

I've gone about this on other clips, but I have to say it again - when they were firing on all cylinders during the 77 tour, I think they were the best they ever were (which basically means the best ANY band has ever been). I know they had rough nights on this tour, and a lot of people like Page's smoother style from earlier days...but 77 had such an imperial majestic vibe. When they were on, they were GIANT.

@91nickt I was there. I got tickets to the show and it was my first date with this girl I had met. Today is our anniversary - married 32 years and 1st date was with Zep. Ha ha, I've never let her forget it.

dam! I was down in that area about maybe 13 days before this concert. Grad night at Disneyland for high school grads class of 1977. One of my favorite bands at the time and...never ever went to one concert of theirs.

Imagine if any of us Americans knew that late July '77 would be the last time we would ever have Zeppelin play here. Knowing what would happen to the band from July '77 through September '80 almost makes that entire '77 tour seem ominous. Yet, the bittersweet flipside is the legacy it's created. Led Zep might be bigger now than they ever were, even during their '72-'75 period peak.

It is, but to be honest, I would rather have the Seattle video with the LA performances dubbed over it because those performances were way better than the Seattle concert, at least in my opinion.

I still have a bootleg record from 1979 of this recording. LOL. I would play bootleg recordings in my Scirocco... people would take a minute and realize it was different from what they'd heard before, and think I had some direct access to Zeppelin's recording studios. hahahaa.

Page wasn't at his best most nights, certainly (but he was ON for the LA shows, at least the three I've heard), and Plant's voice was way better than in 73 or 75. And Bonzo and Jonesy were their usual stellar selves.

That's because his Voice was COOKED after '73 - '74... I absolutely LOVE Zep BUT Percy STRAINED his Voice: smoked like a chimney; drank; snorted coke; didn't warm up properly or rest...Probably my ALL TIME FAVE Band BUT they were alcoholics and drug addicts which SEVERELY compromised their gifts / talents... Page was actually a GREAT improvisational LIVE Guitarist whose skills were SEVERELY diminished after "Presence" due to Heroin, Coke and too much Whiskey. It's a shame, really.

@@chrisburk9424 No Plant said it was over because Bonham Didn’t want to play anymore Jimmy was always High and Plant lost his son karak in 77 so after 77 it was over
