I manipulated the live unreleased soundboard recording, bringing out a fuller, brutal energy that is the Led Zeppelin on-stage experience. BTW this is loud as KZbin permits so crank it up to satisfaction.... Lots of work and I loved putting it together. Hope you enjoy it! Images from Internet, enhanced by RBennett (amess0stuff).

It's as if he switched his toggle switch to a more mid-range! As for Robert, incredible and I wonder if he were abstaining from a certain something... for a while? BTW I have a feeling Robert has been writing his autobiography. He has always says no, but he knows he is an amazing storyteller.

@@Rod-p3b I wonder. Jimmy planned a harder edge rock album after the 1980 US tour but looking ahead I cannot imagine that tour going smoothly. Ha, I just wrote another paragraph then decided to blog it instead! I may as well be another "Rock stories doood" but my facts will be solid.

Yes! He really gave it his all on the last gig. My only 2 questions in all this is what the US 1980 setlist was looking like? And there's something about "Walter's Walk" that sounds nothing like a 1972 session.

I happened to notice this performance was a standout, as well as Black Dog from the same show. People knock this tour but after Knebworth but why continue with the same set? I still think USA 1980 would open with TSRTS because people would freak out at Trian Kept A Rollin.

What a fantastic comment, thank you! I call it the "stage sound" as if we are standing on the side of the stage. The rumble! It's inspired by an interview I read with Simon Kirke of FREE and Bad Company who recalled guesting on a Zep encore and could not believe how loud it was.

I always wonder what the American Tour would have been like. Through the years Jimmy & Robert have said that the setlist would be much different than the Europe leg that they did. They mentioned a few songs that they were gonna drop and a few that would have been included. A shame. What was bothering Bonzo so much where he had to drink 40 shots of Vodka?
@Twotontessie
@Twotontessie 8 ай бұрын
Guilt and paranoia at being an out of control thug maybe. Terror at going back on the road in the States and all that it would entail? Nobody knows. It doesn’t really add up. As with Bon Scott the official version may not hold up to scrutiny. A lot of heroin going around London. Maybe the guy that did the pathology report was told “you didn’t see anything but alcohol” by Grant.

@@TwotontessieOh STFU with your badly-expressed conspiracies, speculations & quarter-truths. As is well known to any Zepp follower Bonzo was a family man and really just wanted to get back to his family when touring, that's all there was to it
@amess0stuff89
@amess0stuff89 8 ай бұрын
@@Twotontessie The key is in a comment made by Peter, it's out there. but I'm not repeating it because it's a new can o' worms. Bonzo was not paranoid, terrified or guilty, just pissed off. My feeling is everyone in Zep aside from Jimmy figured "We made our money can we just stop touring the US?". As for Bon, it catches up! BTW I'm sure "You Shook Me All Night Long" was entirely written by Bon, simply it's the only clever lyric on Back In Black!

This was near the end of touring, but they still could kill it. If they just chilled for a year or 2 and Jimmy and John sobered up, they would have dominated the 1980s as well.
@amess0stuff89
@amess0stuff89 6 ай бұрын
John was never going to sober up unless he knew he was home to stay. I think the 1980 American tour would have ended in disaster or at a few bad moods. Peter Grant was waning and with Richard Cole on the outs, it was the first time there would be no *hands on* security. Cole did a lot more than security, now that too was lost. The Vultures Are Circling Tour.

Robert's double tracked vocals more spread out and the overall mix is pretty damn vibrant! Look for "Physically Present" however NOT on lost.fm which is just annoying WIX ads. Also the Custard Pie early mix I prefer to the PG version. It's there. down one rabbit hole or another.

I had never heard Robert's clean take of The Wanton Song - and how the hell did a radio station have a copy? Stolen from Jimmy while in tour...
