I got a LedgeBay when I first started painting with acrylic paints. Got it from Amazon. I hope they have gotten better then they were a few years ago with there paints. There paints didn't stand up non were Opaque and it was the hardest painting I ever tried to do. Sadly I didn't give them another chance. May have been a painting from the beginning of their company as it had no easel I think only the large comes with easels. Take Care Sheila Good to see you again!! Miss you hope your doing well..

I just put away a painting because the paints were horrible. They didn't spread well even after thinning, were streaky and every single one of them was translucent which was driving me nuts.

I was told to get a sharpie white paint pen and just paint out the numbers on spaces that the paint is not covering well and then paint over that. I havent tried it yet, im still waiting on my first kits to come in the mail!

A white paint pen is what I use to teach, but the best way to prime before certain colors is to use shades of gray…{I know, right 🤷🏻‍♀️??} I did a video on this to explain it. It’s a game changer! White works on certain colors too, but gray is crazy wild for how it works under yellows, oranges, and so on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZbLl3iGhNB9nM0si=wgGEYGbUhNmGefbQ I’m excited for you to receive your first kits and to get started! 🥰

@@MelanieBsCreativeStudio thank you for replying! I will get both. I'm going to be watching more of your videos so I'm starting out well informed. I had a question about the clear gesso. I live in a badly ventilated studio apartment in New York. Does the gesso have a lot of fumes? Will cleaning the gesso brush require solvents of some kind?
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio 11 ай бұрын
@@ericmoore571 no, gesso doesn’t have any fumes. I have a rare kind of migraine, so I have to avoid products that put off any kind of strong odors. You will rarely, if ever, see me recommending anything that has a strong smell! In addition, clear gesso is almost like a white glue consistency and is water-based (thank goodness! 😂), so it cleans up with soap and water. I actually designed a Clear Gesso Application Squeegee after years of being {too lazy} tired of cleaning brushes. All you have to do with that is drop it into a cup of water or rinse/wipe it off and it’s good to go! It’s at my website at melaniebscreativesupplies. com if you want to check that out. You can also use it to apply liquid sealers too. It saves on waste, too, which was my purpose for those of us on tight budgets! Here is a video where I use it…works on canvases or any surface. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZOkc6WPa5d9bK8

@@MelanieBsCreativeStudio thank you Melanie! I will get some when I start my next painting. I had to get started! I finished my first project, a portrait of Phillipina Staunton, and for my first try I think it came out great! I kind of touched up her hair and face a bit and blended the background as I have seen you do in your videos. Your videos are so helpful, you are the Bob Ross of the paint by numbers community!

Yeah, I recorded this in June 🥴…then my mom got really sick, so it took me forever to edit. She passed away in July…so here we are in August. I’ve been working on editing one video since February 🤪.

Love your channel ❤️ just getting into paint by numbers Have a question in regards to your digital swatch guide. What type of paper, cardstock do you suggest printing? TY
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio Жыл бұрын
I started off using an HP matte presentation paper, and then I switched to a printable canvas (the link for that is in the description box under the video where it says “more”.) I like using a canvas swatch, because it gives me an accurate idea of how my paints will cover on the actual painting. You don’t have to go to that expense, but you do get 4 swatches per page, so a pack of 10 will last you a long time. ☺️

When you're using the imposto (sp) technique, are you concerned about running out of paint? It looks like you use a lot more paint with this technique.
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio Жыл бұрын
I think because it covers so well the first layer, and you don’t need as much each color as you think, I don’t run out. You also don’t need texture for every area…it just depends on where you need depth. Not that I’m encouraging anyone to add extra paint, but I do like it when companies off that option. Ledgebay is one of the companies that does.
