Much respect. A lot people forget the neck helps absorbs some of the impact to the head and is thus worth strengthening. Not just for fighting but any contact sport that has a risk of injury.

I was fortunate enough to grow up with neck training for Karate. We did 100 on all four sides - lying on the back, on each side, and propped on elbows. We did them after crunches because Sensei loved us (makes the neck crunches that much harder).

@@bigruckus8664 There are certain kung fu schools that use an iron brush for facial and head training, but I would avoid it unless you have a proper instructor, and have done enough research to make sure it's safe.

You’re actually right. Training the longus colli is a common strategy for reducing forward head posture, which should reduce cervical lordosis and can contribute to reduced thoracic kyphosis, which is the name for the hunchback posture you see in people with desk jobs.

As someone who is getting serious about muay thai, I didn't realize how weak my neck is relative to the rest of my body. I could only do 30 reps of "yes" before getting to failure. This is a game changer, and I can only imagine how much stronger it'll make me. Cheers!

Hey, my acquaintance (online only, though he's a nice guy and I'd like to meet him someday) Jordan Red Chucks says that you say that either Bruce Lee was the biggest influence on your fighting and/or that you use JKD in your fights. I was wondering if it is true that you claim this and if you could elaborate on the specific principles and specific lessons Mr. Lee (or Mr. Inosanto) taught that you've employed and how you've done that -- which specific techniques or tactics.

It's not only about the size, it's about functionality. Dave's neck enables him to resist knockouts. Breakdancing neck is not the same thing as a fighting neck.
@Gerald-xw4df3 жыл бұрын
@@LeducLethwei BreakDancer necks are pretty functional it's not just big and useless. I'm surprised Dave don't use them to succeed even better. Imagine if you master the art of head spinning. If one can headspin nonstop for 60 second, they'll be hard to knockout. 😁 I'm trying master the art but I'm not good yet
