The Song is about a father on how he remembers his son who was a Soldier - SSG Jared Monti (13F Forward Observer) who was killed in action while trying to save a fellow wounded soldier (3 times) during an attack in Afghanistan. For his actions he was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2009.

@@lawou8989 The story is about the father and son but they asked him not to make it about a father and a son because it was just too painful. So they worded it about a brother missing his brother and if you listen to it you will hear him talking to his mother and she asked him did you go by your brother's grave and then close to the end of the video he says brother I drive your truck.

This song is about a dad who lost his son, Jared Monti, KIA (2006) in Afghanistan. He served in 3/71 CAV, 10th Mountain Division and who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for making 3 attempts to save one of his soldiers during an attack of their observation post, being killed by an RPG on the third attempt. His dad's coping mechanism is the basis of this song. Climb to Glory!

It was deep. Took me a while to realize it. Grandpa was my hero in every sense of the word. It hurt to let him go. But I knew he’d be up with grandma, mom, & dad. It hurt hearing his daughter telling him to let go. Let go and go meet grandma & dad. But that line about I’m not feeling him at his grave. His soul, his peace was at home.

Lee heard a story about a military father who lost his son on the radio one day driving. He said he had to pull over the story got to him so much. He was in contact with the father about making the song. The person in the video (that drives the truck, etc) is Lee's actual brother, Lewis. So he made it even more personal by featuring his actual family. If I'm not mistaken, the money for the song went towards Veterans as well.

This song was actually written for a mother and father that had lost their son. They drove his truck to soothe their grief. Lee Brice delivers the emotion intended, in this song. The video depicts him losing his brother. The emotion is so felt.

People arguing about this song.... A. Lee Brice didn't write the song. Google it. B. In the video it does portray a brother who loses his brother. C. Co-writer Connie Harrington was inspired to write it after hearing an interview on Here and Now with a father, Paul Monti, whose son, Medal of Honor recipient Jared, was killed in Afghanistan while trying to save a fellow soldier. In the interview, he states that he drives the truck to feel close to his son.

This was a story about a father who lost his son overseas. He was engaged to one of my best friends. He was so unselfish and died while rescuing other soldiers. Although it was about a father/son relationship he nailed the emotional roller coaster we went with for her. Jared Monti died in the line of duty. He was amazing!! This song is about Sergeant First Class Jared Monte. He was a 13F (Forward Observer) he lost his life in Afghanistan when he called for artillery fire support when another solider went down he tried to save his fellow soldiers life. He was awarded the Medal of Honor. His father was doing an interview on the radio when one of Lee Brices agents herd the story and asked the father if they could write a song about it. I know all of this because I’m a 13F and we learned about him at AIT.

My husband lost his father five years ago and inherited his truck. It's an old f250 that was an old work truck. My husband has polished and waxed it, fixed the broken seat, and every time something breaks he fixes it. And when he found this song it became one of his favorites. One of the hardest things for him has been not being able to ask his father how to fix it.

Good story song. Back in '41 war broke out with Japan, young men across the country came to their country's calling and my Uncle Johnnie did right out of high school. A year later in '42, he died as a POW during the Bataan Death March in the Philippines. I was born in '48 and dad named me after his brother, I carried his name through the canopies of Vietnam seared in my heart. I was a Point Man (U.S.M.C.) for my squad throughout my tour in Nam, the honor is still alive as long as there's breath in my soul. Gen. George S. Patton quoted, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." RIP all military soldiers who gave their lives defending this great Nation.

I got my dads truck right before he passed away unexpectedly and I beat myself up everyday because three days after he passed away I rolled it 8 times and whenever I miss him I can’t drive his truck anymore but he did hold me through the wreck and kept me as safe as possible but this song really gets to me every single time I listen to it because that was the biggest thing in my childhood was riding in that truck with him then he taught me a lesson to straighten my life up with it

I drove my late brother in laws (Army Vet from Vietnam) till the cab fell off the frame. He's been gone for 8 years now and I and the family miss him more than you could ever know.

My sister passed away at age 55. Since I dont drive my son's father took her Jeep to an auction. When I saw the back of it driving away and knowing she wasn't in it I cried harder than I've ever cried in my life.
