Me and my husband just got the news that our daughters brain damage is so bad from having leukemia when she was a baby and went without oxygen for a time when she was so so sick that she will never be able to be independent. So many men have walked out on me in my life and have let me down but I know her father will never leave her side. I am so thankful for that and my mind went to this song today. Baby, thank you for always being there for our family. We will get through this together somehow, some way for our beautiful daughter. This song is my heart today. IOU! I love you

Driving to Corpus Christi, Texas from Galveston to look for a home. Coast Guard was transferring us there, and listening to Lee Greenwood, saw an exit sign. Greenwood exit, we exited, drove one mile turned left on Triple Crown, saw our dream home! Bought it. Owned it 31 years. Many trials through those years, but I will never forget how we were supernaturally lead to THAT home. It still stands, in perfect condition, as we rehabbed it completely before we sold it. I believe this song is the greatest love song ever performed by a single artist. I once had the privilege of interviewing Lee Greenwood when I wrote for the post newspaper at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This was when he was in his heyday as back to back country entertainer of the year. FOR OBVIOUS REASONS!! This song is so beautifully open and heartfelt. He sang both this, and God Bless the USA during that concert. Simple, gentle, and direct is the best way to perform any love song. This timeless classic has those traits like no other I've ever heard.

A friend of mine worked at the Tropicana Hotel (Vegas) as a floorman, and he and a couple of buddies were working on some arrangements for their band in the lounge, after their shift one night. He said a dealer kept coming over on his breaks and listening. Finally, the guy got up the nerve and asked if he could sit in. It was a closed rehearsal, but the guy looked so disappointed, Tommy relented and handed over the mic. He said the guy's voice brought him to tears. It was Lee!!

On our 27th anniversary I gave my wife a jump drive with "The 27 Songs That Remind me of My Sweetie" along with an album that had the lyrics for each song. I.O.U. was the first and most important one on the list. It put to words how I feel about our relationship. If I spent every minute of every day for the rest of my life paying her back for all that she's done for me and lived a long life, I'd still die indebted man.. I'm working on "The 35 Songs That Remind Me of My Sweetie" for our 35th anniversary in 13 months. Adoration is too weak a word for how I feel about this woman.
