He only said the setup, the punchline would have been something like "7 times" referencing inbred people having extra body parts. The audience were laughing because they saw where it was going.

Normally "on one hand" is used in scenarios where it would be considered a small amount for the amount of time (20 years), but the fact that he was very specific "boring, stereotypical, west country inbred yada yada" changes the meaning, since making 5 jokes within those parameters would be considered a lot.

Because he shines best when he can let his wit take over. He's amazingly fast with reactive humor and parlor games, but on stage those don't that big of a place.

This is actually more reactive than panel shows, it’s just them and a massive audience, half of which are boozed up and could heckle anytime so they have to be prepared for that.
