I grew up going to ren faires and I was super confused when I would tell my friends about them and they thought I was an insane person.

Never actually been to a Ren Faire, but I was hooked in super-deep with the Society for Creative Anachronisms when I was a younger lad. Liability rules meant that I, as a minor, was unable to participate in the Heavy Fighting category, where a person makes and adorns their own padded armour sets and wail on each other with padded mock weapons. But, I _did_ learn how to fence with a rapier Inigo Montoya style. That takes its own skill set to be able to whip around a sword roughly the weight of a bowling ball.

100% would dress in Star Trek uniforms, or Khan. Scottish high school too. Our mascot was the Highlanders, Notre Dame's fight song, and the name was Scottish for rolling hills. I said South Dakota as well.
