Leeann Whiffen was the average twenty something mother trying to raise a family on a modest budget when her son was diagnosed at 3 years old with Autism. Struggling to find answers for the "incurable" condition, she found a way to help her son to fully recover. Her child, who is now 8 years old, is now fully functional with no Autistic symptoms left. Her story will be published in a memoir coming Spring 2009.

Thank you for posting this video. And it's refreshing to have a normal everyday person/parent speak with such knowledge about Autism. I've book marked her page and will look into getting her book.

@TheAutumBlog the problem with the autism diagnoses is that it is only based on a triad of behavioral symptoms, so according to diagnostic criteria, as long as those are present the diagnoses will remain as autism. How many times do you read on the net or watch video clips where people that are diagnosed as having fragile x are also said to be autistic. Not just fragile x, but that which is causing their autism.

The below post from people.....some of them really make me sad. There are several levels of Autism. Just like any other immune disorder. When you have a fully functioning child...then BOOM...it ALL stops.....don't you think that's a concern? Our grandson has Austism. We're extremely thankful he's of the High Spectrum of intelligence. Yet...we will not sit by and just watch what happens. That's extreme poor Parenting! Education, Education, Education!!!

@TheAutumBlog what is true autism? I don't think anyone can answer that anymore! Autism is only based on a triad of behavioral symptoms. At the time of screening, if the shoe fits! But I fully agree, alot of disorders are being diagnosed as autism because the behavioral symptoms are present. Examples, fragile x, mitochondrial disorders, intellectual disabilities, food allergies and intolerances, tuberous sclerosis, etc etc.

if you asked, then where is the questionmark in youre other comment? if you think complaining about language is immature, why bring it up? anyway i have done all the work on my self, i am now capable of masking myself as a neurotypical the only thing that changed over the years though is the way i appear to the outside world, nothing changes the inside unless i want it too

It's still arguable whether or not these "recovered" children actually have true autism to begin with. There are literally dozens of disorders that mimic autism and countless of stories of children misdiagnosed as autistic.

@NKKPPAS True autism is autistic behaviors that exist after things like mitochondrial disorders, intellectual disabilities, Landau-Kleffner syndrom, food allergies, etc are ruled out.

First things first . Tummy problems in autism are due to extreme anxiety. Fight or flight system kicks in so you can not go to toilet or you have loose stools. I have asperger syndrome.

Don't get all bent out of shape because you lack the ability to spell. And it has alot to do when someone is trying to discard another person's information, yet they can't even spell. I never said there is a cure all out there. There are many therapies, diets, etc. that can allow a person with Autism to have a much better functioning life. But it also depends on the severity of their Autism. Not sure where you looked or what you have tried but maybe you looked in the wrong places. ;)

I just asked the question (formally) in my previous comment. You just continue dancing around because you have no facts, only your opinion, which means nothing without evidence. You be well. I'm not wasting any more time on someone who's narrow minded.

if you knew even the slightest about autism youd know its about as cureable as adhd, schizofrenia and manic depressions
