My dad took the family up to leech lake in the early 70's, we'd stay at the old merit lodge on the southside of the lake it's now a condo shared owner complex, it sat next door to huddles, and each trip he'd spend the money for a guide and the launch that merit lodge had and we'd head out to submarine island and do some drift fishing over the hump. the lodge we stayed at was directly south of pipe island and we'd drift along the island and catch tons of walleye and perch. there was shallow weeded water between pipe and little pipe island and i was reeling in my bait cause it hadn't done to much and about 3 feet from the boat i get a cold splash of water slapped in the face by a northern who promptly took my brothers bait as he turned around to head back to the weeds. good times. miss my dad. does anyone have the gps co-ordinates for submaring island, i'd like to go up to leech with my own gear and boat sometime and try my luck myself.

Very nice fishing show, and I love how you end your show with a reading of the Word. I grew up in a very legalistic background much like Charles Stanley, (strict Pentecostalism), and even when I got out of that, I was still hung up on Lordship Salvation where I believed one could lose their salvation if they didn't "maintain right standing with the Lord at all times". That still was "thou shalt not" or as the apostle Paul called it, being under the Law rather than Grace. The bottom line is this: If you trust your own works to either keep you or to save you, then you are believing a cursed gospel which is not another gospel but a perversion. (Galatians 1:6-9).

Suggestion: You guys should encourage BARBLESS fishing. Why beat up the fish ? Release them with minimum damage.

Al, I really don't understand your need to have long conversations before you put the fish back in the water so that it can breathe.
