I've watched every comparison video. I have a cheaper pair of skullcandys at the moment, hesh anc. I listen exclusively to metal for the most part, all things metal. I want better headphones. Deciding between Sony, momentum 4s, or heavys. My problem is anc is also important to me, wondering what you'd choose if you mostly only listened to metal

i like the sound of both headphones, but i still prefer the heavys because the air pods have a bit too much top end, and the heavys have just the right amount of bass

It's almost a year later, and I still can't decide between the 2. I was holding to see an update to the Max, but all Apple did was to replace the lightning with USB-C. And I still don't know what would be better, since I can not test the Heavys where I live. I know I do enjoy the Max sound a lot, but yeah... still would love to have the opportunity to test the Heavys.

I also feel that on the Max you could potentially EQ the mids and have a closer sound to the heavys, as I'm not that sure if the heavys could reproduce the mids that well as the Max.

If you plan on sweating at all don’t get the apple headphones. No one talks about it but these things can’t handle even the barest touch of humidity.

For a huge Metallica fan like myself I wonder if it’s better to lean towards the Pro Max when I wanna listen to the albums that have very scooped mids. For example, One from …And Justice For All, will it be better to listen to that song on the Heavy’s or Pro Max?

For me, I don't find the extra high end on the Max's bothersome at all. I've spent a decade listening to music with bass heavy (heh, "heavy") headphones and I've grown bored of it. The Heavys sound fantastic for a bass oriented headphone but the bass clearly drowns out the mids and especially the high end. I would much rather prefer the wider and clearer sound stage of the Max's, but for half the price it's hard to complain. Both do the job. It's a matter of whether the bump in the high end is worth the extra $200.

I think this is a very unfair comparison ONLY in terms of price. The Heavys pricing is based on your country and local taxes/customs rates, whereas Apple has a more "globally balanced" pricing, the taxes and customs applied to it are much closer to MSRP. Apple AirPods Max cost closer to ~500€ in my country, and the heavys are without any discounts ~350€, and they very frequently run 70-100€ discounts, making them at times half the cost of AirPods Max. This is true for multiple countries (In the EU, no clue about NA pricings)

I know I’m late but the AirPods can be used wired with a special lightning to aux adapter than only Apple sells for 30$ not perfect by any means but it does allow you to use on a pc

Wouldn’t buy the AirPods Max headphones if you plan to sweat at all just a forewarning to those possibly considering them. They… are… not sweat or water resistant even in the slightest. So if you sweat even a little from your head and are wearing these or they experience ANY type of liquid they WILL stop working and apple DOES NOT intend to fix this (because people keep buying them and they refuse to see the issue was an issue with the first gen and continues into the second). So anything besides being at home doing nothing headphone use would pass. For the price it’s absolutely ridiculous, they will allow an exchange but… this shouldn’t have been such an issue in the first place.
