Englands 3rd largest city (fact) leeds is a very underrated place. Its actually the 2nd largest financial centre after london and currently one of the most happening cities in the uk with mass development, currently over 25 cranes up in the cc with numerous skyscraper buildings over 30floors under construction or planned to go up. The city has a very modern wealthy feel to it with a good mix of old architecture and new buildings that mix well.

I'm not from Leeds, but lived 20 miles away until I moved overseas. What I love about the city is the fact that apart from it being a buzzing wealthy city, unlike other comparable cities it has managed to maintain it's reputation for being a very friendly place. Leeds has so much to offer, first rate restaurant's, upscale shops and everyday shops, great nightlife and some lovely suburbs, yet all this is within a short journey to the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and other historic places such as York and Knaresborough.

As a born and bred Londoner, who has always thought that "my city" was the centre of the universe, and everywhere else was just grass and yokels, I was astonished the first time I went to Leeds, about 30 years ago. It is a properly impressive and beautiful city, that feels wealthy, and important.

Generally it’s a pretty walkable city and they are installing trams at some point so it’ll become even easier to get around in the future. It can be pretty pricey to live there but a good wage will afford you a good flat near the centre and Leeds has pretty good wages.

Hi,Neil. I have to say,as a Londoner, watching videos of places like York and Leeds, the shopping is infinitely better than London. London is crowded, confusing and very, very stressful.Leeds in particular with those lovely Arcades and Markets and space.I would say to anyone visiting UK, don't go to London.Other Citys have castles and loads of history.Do some research first.Your videos ,Neil, give people a lot of insight and information on where to visit in the UK.We have enjoyed looking at places we had not heard of.Thankyou😊.

Very nostalgic tour-thanks for posting. Towards the end at 59:59 you passed what was then known as Atlas Chambers, the building on the corner of King Street and St Pauls Street. I started work there in September 1971 and it's truly impossible to comprehend the scale of the change to the city centre. You didn't have time to explore all the other stuff going on in this dynamic young city (Arena Quarter, Wellington Place, South Bank, Leeds Dock/Armouries) there's enough there for another video. The original war memorial was designed and sculptured by the famous Eric Gill...our pacifist councillors at the time spirited away covertly the angelic sword -brandishing figure stop and replaced it with a drooping duplicate holding an olive branch..they have consistently lied about its whereabouts and deny all knowledge...the markets by common consent never recovered from the fire in 1976,it lost its spirit and character...they never cease to manhandle the magnificent town hall which from being opened in 1856 until circ 1990 has sporadically been swathed in covering and scaffolding, The only thing that needs to be renovated are the lions whose ferocity must have ensured their inviolability
