Thanks a lot for covering FydeOS! We really appreciate it. About the touch screen, we actually have a tablet mode that's perfect for that. You can find a switch in the FydeOS settings to easily toggle between Desktop Mode and Tablet Mode in the control center!

I've not tried them all, but I'm more than happy with Android 14 running on a Pi4 and a 7" touch screen (no keyboard or mouse attached)

Amazing comparison video which really helped me decide buying one of those touchscreen displays for my rpi5! PS: I noticed you are blurring your @ in your terminal, but you forgot to do that for the tab name, which shows that exact information.

Thanks Lee for this information and comparison video. The way you revisited Windows 8..brought back memories of my old Surface Pro 3, however I had the optional keyboard and trackpad. I kept wishing for Apple to release a tablet MacOs for the IPad, because MS OS is too keyboard dependent and with Windows 11 it’s only got worse. Have a great day!

Great video! Wanna point out though that having that many desktop environments on one system will install a bunch of unnecessary packages, and could bog down the system!

A keyboard does come up if you use like a proper touch screen. A lot of these USB touch screens on Linux their drivers just simulate a mouse, but on my Chromebook tablet which I installed KDE plasma on via crostini, I was able to get an on the screen keyboard (not the Chrome OS one) open up automatically. It might also be that you didn't install the malitt keyboard package

Also in plasma mobile definitely works better on a fresh install, One that didn't have regular plasma beforehand

Linux on a Chromebook would be different to a native install of Linux. Kde doesn’t automatically show the keyboard on a clean install with a Raspberry Pi. There are loads of workarounds for different systems. I wanted to show compatibility without needing to add extras.
