American movies that do well in China are the ones with lots of special effects and action, because they can be easily localized. A movie that's amazing because of its script that relies on English language and a native understanding of Western culture is harder to change for the Chinese audience. That audience represents a ton of money. So Hollywood has drifted even more toward that kind of vapid schlock. There may be a point where American audiences become disgusted enough they refuse to - sorry, nevermind, that will never happen because American standards are so incredibly low.

I bet the reason he didn't cash in with the meme was that he didn't hire a professional manager to negotiate and search for business deals. He could have become seriously rich having his brand of breakfast serials and everything, but normal people just do not know how to market themselves and negotiate the deals. It's like top sports players get all sorts of deals that have noting to do with the sport they play, but the managers searches out the people who are willing to pay. That fcking "cash me outside" girl is a millionaire nowadays. You think she negotiated the deals and promoted her? No. But she was clever enough to hire a representative or was offered the service and they made it happen. Now the original Leeroy is just a sad bearded guy with a famous phrase he never managed to exploit financially.

Sadly the time of personal experience died but it was inevitable, we're all onto new and better things, hell I had played the game since release......more than 10 years ago, I dunno some small part of me wants to continue playing n just pay the 15$ a month just to screw around n forget about it every now n then but meh.

That's kinda sad, especially ... Leeroy Jenkins should be a Intellectual Property owned by them. I mean after all, HE created the character, choose a name and they staged that Video together. Feels kinda wrong, that Blizzard now uses that IP however small it might be, for Quests, Cards in Heartstone ... maybe even make a Character in Heroes of the Storm ... and all he has is meme fame, while Blizzard has some cheap means to make some Items in they're games more famous/meaningful.

It's the classic case of having utterly nothing to follow up with. You see this with one hit wonders all the time. If all you can do is shout "[insert funny line here]" and nothing else, that's all you'll ever be. The "Insert Funny Line Here" guy. He didn't follow it up with any sort of video series featuring the character - as Rooster Teeth has built a whole multi-media company from doing -, he didn't lend his voice to any of WoW's vast problems to improve the game, and he really didn't have any other talents beyond being the right man in the right place at the right time that one time. Maybe Blizzard's copyright stuff factored into the problem with profiting from it, but that hardly stopped RvB or 'Arby and the Chief' or any other video series built off of parodying a game using that game's assets. And none of these examples are recent, they are contemporaries of Leeroy Jenkins - give or take a few years. This is an excellent video, though. Extremely informative. You'd never get this from KYM or BTM.
@KG-yz7tr6 жыл бұрын
Rooster Teeth sucked and still does. They had to bring in outside people and piggyback off of other peoples' talents to actually make themselves successful.
@theninjachicken57995 жыл бұрын

@tuxedomollusk5 жыл бұрын
@@KG-yz7tr As someone who grew up with The Blood Gulch Chronicles, and still returns to it fairly regularly to find it holds up even to this day, I'm _pretty_ damn sure RvB's success was mainly due to RT's own writing talent (read: Bernie Burns), voice acting, and machinimatography (is that a word...?), and that the times they pulled in "outside talent" like Monty Oum were the parts that were actually mediocre in comparison. Remember the CG scenes he did in the later seasons...? Talk about forgettable, at least compared to the actual machinima stuff. You've got this whole thing totally backwards, dude.
