Thanks for this video. Great idea on creating an ice bath. I've been doing cold showers for 3 months now, but it's to activate my brown adipose tissue for weight loss purposes. It's amazing how it warms your internal body temperature and you just feel revived after a few minutes in cold water. I'm a believer. it's time for me to look for an old chest freezer.

Thanks for the great video. I've been taking ice baths for a couple years now. My setup consists of a horse trough in Frozen water bottles which kind of troublesome taking the ice bottles out of my freezer, moving them to the horse trough and at the end placing them back into the freezer. I'm kind of thinking about doing what you built. Thanks again for all the upgrade information

I wish I had an easier way to do ice baths in the summer. Unfortunately, living in an apartment in the hot parts of California makes it difficult as I don’t have much space for a chest freezer and buying ice would get very expensive very fast. Even on the coldest setting, the shower water is around 70 degrees F (21 C). Not low enough to be therapeutic. I could buy a countertop ice maker, but I don’t even have the freezer space to store any ice and it probably wouldn’t produce enough on its own per day.

Question: since you blocked off the drainage hole.. how do you drain this thing?
@Levi_Allen
@Levi_Allen 2 жыл бұрын
I use a hose to siphon the water out. The drain style that's built-in is not made to work with holding in water. It deliberately lets water out on purpose, it's more of a one-way valve than a drain. You could plumb in a dedicated drain if that's important to you.

Two questions... If you sealed up the water drain, how do you drain the water to put fresh water in? Also, you cut the cord so how do you keep the water cold? I feel like I missed something.
@Levi_Allen
@Levi_Allen 8 ай бұрын
the drain is just meant to let melting ice out when it's a freezer. the drain does not hold water in, which is why it needed to be sealed. The cord I cut and crimped the ends was just for the light in the lid. Not the freezer itself. I fill and empty the freezer with a hose (syphon or fill)

The tub is great so far but you started to harsh. If you‘d listened carefully to Andrew Huberman on his podcast, you would know that the cold exposure should be 1. safe and 2. deliberate. He is also talking about the studies that say, that the many effects start at about 15 degrees celsius. From there you can go lower as your body gets used to the cold over Time. As for the mental health and generell health aspect there should always be „a wall to climb“ before the cold exposure. This builds up the resilience. Drinking a shot tastes maybe good but you should check out his podcast about alcohol 😅. Last but not least, the body should be in the water from the neck as the the studies messured it. Maybe this helps you a little bit for your next plunge.
