my goodness... it's not THE leg day. It's another leg day. They're football players. And it happens to be a few days before the game. I think the game takes precedent. It's kinda why they are there! Legs need to be recovered. It's not planet fitness. They're huge dudes who all run sub 5 second 40's. They tackle at full speed and run over people. Check the NFL rosters. They're loaded with Buckeye players. Coach Marotti has a plan and he executes it well

But then again, maybe it's called not blowing out your legs prior to the afternoon practice. Incidentally, they have some of the fastest legs in college football. They aren't busting out a Planet Fitness "workout." They are being prepared for the most competitive of sport environments.

@@ASAPAthleticStrengthAndPower lmao planet fitness and squats dont go together either Training legs isnt about speed training it is about power, and strength. Things theyve done in this video are for strength, leg press for example And if theyre trying not to "blow out" your legs before a game" you dont do leg day so close to saturday. Clemson does legs on monday - seems to work well for them

We had some sorry ass weight room with 2 benches, i squat rack, a universal machine ans a broken vertical leg press with no a/c in south Louisiana. In a way though, i did like working out in that miserable hot dungeon! When two a days started, the heat wasnt as bad a factor as it was to the kids who went to air conditioned gyms...lol

So? You’re actually stronger doing isometric exercises versus dynamic movements. In other words, static exercises work your muscles a lot more.

Jake Herington Lol im doing my Kinesiology degree dude, I know exactly what I’m talking about. Look up the force-velocity relationship and then you’ll understand.
@jakeherington72375 жыл бұрын
Mustafa T I’m not sure what you mean by “stronger on isometric” and “work your muscles more.”
@SimpExterminator5 жыл бұрын
@@jakeherington7237 Basically, isometric means it's a static exercise where there's no movement occurring, like the wall sit for example: you get down to the squat position and stay there, so no movement or isometric. So, a lot of people think that our muscles are capable of creating more force when were doing a dynamic exercise, or in this case an exercise where theres movement occurring like the regular squat or leg press, but it turns out thats not actually the case! Our muscles are physiologically able to generate more force when they're static and theres no velocity. BUT, thats only when you're comparing an isometric contraction to a concentric contraction. If you're not sure what the 3 types of muscle contractions are, then this can get kind of complicated in all honestly. But again, going back to the wall sits, this is why I was saying that you're stronger doing isometric exercises because simply put, you are capable of generating more force so its really effective for training.

These videos reveal a truly atrocious methodolgy used by most college coaches. It is a testament to the players that they succeed in spite of the damage being done to them. Will there ever come a time when science and research is utilized to correctly train them? These good ole boys coaches should be replaced ASAP. FYI, see Dr. Doug McGuff, Wayne Westcott, et al.
@ASAPAthleticStrengthAndPower5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to see that you are turned off by these workouts. It may be best that you don't watch anymore of them . The people that you are referencing are fitness researchers and their methods are taken into account and have their place with mostly the general populace, though also with the athletes in these videos. However, the athletes who are seen in these videos are highly skilled elite stars and many seen are being prepared for a high performance, extremely high impact, collision sport. The workouts are designed incorporating countless studies into science and research, resulting in some of the most fit humans wandering about their respective college campuses. Furthermore, they aren't at the student rec center or a Planet Fitness facility busting out a "workout." They are being prepared for the most competitive of sport environments. Far from "good ole boy coaches", these performance directors are tasked with getting over 100 athletes, all with their own individual life experiences, to work together to accomplish team goals and to perform their sport at the highest of levels where competition is of the utmost.
