Great video rob! These are the exact videos that most people can take information from very easily. Not too lengthy, and straight forward. Great quality Rich!

There's a vastus medialis exercise called "sentadilla y cuarto" by a spanish physiotherapist translated as squat and a quarter. Start up and go deep, go up to 90º slow, down again with control and up with no locking. Thats 1 rep.

Hello there, I'm a remedial massage therapist I know our information tends to vary between disciplines: personal trainers, physios, chiros all seem to be told different concrete facts (which is quite disturbing) so I'm certainly not meaning to be contradictory here! But what I was always was told that the VMO (teardrop) was used in the last 20 degrees of the extension of the knee with back straight, and to exercise a muscle it should be uppermost so it is engaged first and does most of the work. Personally I recommend your smith machine movement (but without weights or a block, and in a doorway for security) to improve balance and it works amazingly. I only do this exercise rarely but it's improved my balance enough to do the exercise on my toes and now I feel as stable on one leg as I do on two. Useful stuff for most rehabilitation.

Well done Rob. Thanks for focusing on that feel rather than the weight. Be careful on the leg press. Curling your hips at the bottom like that is a sure way to herniated a disc. Slide up 3 inches on the back rest and you'll notice how you'll curl those hips less.

I was just wondering, in the leg press 45 exercise u take ur butt out of the bench, is that ok? I thought that was the limit, when ur butt starts to round that way u should stop the eccentric movement (?)
@sam892210 жыл бұрын
Its dangerous for ur lower back to do it. The quads no longer can move so the butt moves instead

4:40 Is that back curling a problem? I always thought when doing normal squats that if this happens then you're going too low for how flexible you are.
@xxblade.22724 жыл бұрын
The point of doing leg presses & hack squats are to isolate the quads/hamstrings by making the lower back muscles (and possibly glutes) get less involved. The way Rob Riches does it, destroys the purpose of doing those exercises. Also, it can be dangerous to lift the butt off the bench while doing leg press.

Yikes- your knees wobble all over the place! 😖 And you lock out your knee at the top. That's not good. I'm not impressed by the brute strength. I like to see precision, and NO WOBBLES on the knees. I want you to go do some super high repetition NO weight sets focusing on disallowing any movement or wobbles in your knees and perfecting their stability. Same thing again on the bosu ball or airex. THEN go back to low rep weighted stuff and see how much better it is. Don't lock out the knee!!! You have to fully extend but keep it Soft* so that the quad never gets to rest at the top and stays engaged the entire time. - tips from a classically trained ballet dancer/ fitness trainer /perfectionist 😘 ugh, wobbly, locked-out knees drive me crazy!
