The overlap between Aurora and Lizzie is so uncanny in their lives and traumas! I am a TVD super fan and never would have thought about how these two characters could relate until I saw this episode! Also , Lizzie becoming a heretic really just proves that my favorite character was the evil twin of the pair lol - she was the Kai and Lizzie was the josette. I like that they threw us a curve ball and flipped the twins true dynamic on its head. 🤓

I feel like Lizzie’s sire bond is more connected to her psychic bond with Josie. Josie and her were connected, psychically and familiarity, they were twins after all. When Lizzie became a hybrid, she lost that connection. Hope, being the only other hybrid and who’s blood she drank, made her feel connected to someone, which Lizzie subconsciously desired. When Lizzie met Aurora though, she found someone she could relate to, which meant she no longer needed Hope, which is what broke the sire bond. Or it could’ve been the act of wanting something and being an individual and not part of a set that could’ve also broken the sire bond. I hope they create a good explanation for the sirebond and not just say, “oh it’s because she’s a powerful tribrid.” I like powerful characters, but I prefer smart and creative reasons better. Like I know Hope is powerful, but I feel like she should struggle more with older Vampires. That’s just my thoughts though.

I see where you’re coming from but the show’s basically using using her being the tribrid as the meaning because supposedly her super strength hybrid factor kicks in when she does certain spells and so that’s why most old vampires, wolves, witches, malivore, and etcetera take down looked so easy.

@@iniyahmathis4228 I know, but I think what really bugs me is the fact that they’re not tapping into the show’s lore that much. They keep adding and adding stuff without adding to the original lore. There are still a lot of questions out there, like what happens if a werewolf and witch have a baby, are the travelers still around, could someone else create the immortal elixir, what happens if a werewolf drinks normal vampire blood before or after triggered, could a siphon werewolf hybrid exist, and all sorts of other storylines they could also do.

Alaric was put into a coma by Lizzie’s friend Hope and was almost dead. Josie is gone, and Caroline hasn’t seen the girls in a while. Lizzie’s entire maternal biological family is also dead. Lizzie grief and loss is nothing more or less than Hope’s. So Hope continuously joking about Lizzie’s parents or her trauma is just crap. They’ve all gone through more than enough BS.

Hybrids had to transform daily to break the bond as the bond was due to gratitude from freeing them of the pain of transforming. Lizzie is a heretic now so the bond was just because it saved her from death once which was a debt she believed had already repaid in full!

Honestly, though, Aurora and Lizzie are kindred spirits. Of course, Aurora is way more ruthless and unstable, she lived much longer and spend a century believing she was someone else, which I guess made her mental condition worse. She didn't have the medicine and support Lizzie had, she only had Tristan, literally everyone else made fun of her, mocked her, ridiculed her for being bipolar. I mean, no shit, she was a teenager who blamed herself for her mom's death, believed her mind to be demon, then, was compelled to betray her lover and everyone applaused when Elijah mocked her after what he's done to her. I'm glad that Lizzie understood her and was kind to her.

Well, there's a bit more to it. Tyler's sire bond to Klaus came from gratitude as being a hybrid spared him from the pain of transforming against his will. With Lizzie, it is likely it came from the fact that turning saved her from death. And also, this is the first time we see a vampire heretic with a sire bond, one who also happens to have a debilitating psychological disorder. It is quite known that bipolar disorder alters the chemistry in one's brain, so that might have something to do with it.

well, Tyler's bond is not the same as Elena's and since lizzie isn't a hybrid but a heretic, she would have the same bond as elena. Elena could break the bond by turning off her emotions because vamp bonds are rooted in love/sentiment. No idea though, what Lizzie's reason could've been, however, elena shows that vamp sire bonds are easier to be broken. But I agree that the writing is kinda inconsistent and technically the whole storyline is build up on a mine field of plot whole/mistakes.

If I remember correctly, the blood-sire bond is linked to an emotion, but if that emotion dwindles or is broken, then the sire bond serves no purpose. Take Tyler and Klaus. Tyler and the other wolves were grateful, but breaking their bones made their bodies remember that their gratitude was misleading. The only reason it took so long is because of the control they had once becoming hybrids. I think repeatedly doing it mentally erased the control the wolves thought they had. They felt grateful once turned. Without that gratitude, there is no reason to be linked. In the case of Damon and Elena, they were bonded by love. When Elena lost her humanity, she lost her ability to love, thus breaking the sire bond. I think that is what happened with Hope and Lizzie. Lizzie uses Hope's blood to become a heretic while she is mad at Hope (basically hates her). When Lizzie realizes that Hope is still her friend and that she loves her, it helps quell the hate she feels towards Hope for hurting her father. We can conclude the sire bond is irrelevant (aka broken, which it was) because Lizzie no longer hates Hope. This is proven when Lizzie helps Humanity Hope get rid of Non-Humanity Hope before the school gets attacked by Ken (the first time). I think Lizzie forgives Hope too somewhere in all of that.

No. The sirelines doesn’t work like that. If Hope’s sireline works the same way as her family, as the original of her sireline, if she dies then so does Lizzie.
