@Gnamut3 жыл бұрын
Very neat explanation! Being truth, this would also prove the human attackers' audacy and cruelty. Forcing the vampire bodies to be exposed to a slow painful anual meltdown, they'd doom their souls to remain trapped in the spirit realm for all eternity. My memory might be fuzzy, but I remember Dumah's fortress being packed with vampire wraiths, yet they didn't seem to be linked to any corpse in particular. That'd mean they were probably forced to haunt the area, always next to their original bodies, never to be able to restore them ever again. Quite a grim fate for them indeed.
@JMObyx3 жыл бұрын
On the decay of the Dumahim's bodies in the Ash Village...I have a theory/head-canon. When you shift into the Spectral Realm, if you listen for long enough, you can sometimes hear the sound Dumah makes when he tries to devour your soul in the battle against him. It's simple: Dumah's devouring their souls, but the digestion is apparently not instantaeneous.
@El_Badai3 жыл бұрын
The digestion may not be instantaneous because he, unlike his brother Raziel, is not really a full wraith, so he needs to absorb souls slowly, and obviously, the more the distance, the slower the process

Only Blood Omen and the first Soul Reaver are worth playing All the other games are poor , the games de-evolved themselves into lesser versions of the originals . DS2 they got rid of the open world and replaced it with just 1 stretch of map , you go from the pillars into the swamp and then Into the mountains and then go through time twice and it's the exact same stretch of map , they got rid of the world they had on the first game . They also get rid of all your glyths from the first game and don't replace or reintroduce them there is no power ups at all in the game your hp gets higher bit you have no magic anymore and never get any stronger than you are at the start of the game , combat is more janky in the second and the enemies are harder all the while making you weaker . All the textures look the same on 2 as well so you often get into battle and turned around and end up going back the way you came because all the rooms and halls look the same , there's also far more puzzles which no one asked for , so a in all SR2 was a far lesser game than the first SR3 defiance was the absolute killer of the series , in 2 they take all your power away and in 3 they take your ability to control the camera away and turned the game into a typical hack and slash near side scrolling game And the story doesn't continue on from the last like it did between 1-2 it was a tragedy what they done to the series . So yeah if you're thinking of picking up a copy of the games take what I said into stride , legacy of Kain blood omen is an amazing game and legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver is an amazing game I'd pick them up for sure SR2 you might wanna get to unravel the mystery left from the first game, but the story is the only good thing about the entire game , and yeah you will regret paying for defiance it's not worth picking up , I'd just watch a KZbin video of it to get what's rest of the story

I always wondered how on hell did the human vampire hunters managed to pierce Dumah's armor and hide with those stakes, and now I imagine the human hunters storming his throne room with 3 oversized ballistas and pinning him to his throne in one sweep attack. Hope you do Turel taking into account the SR1 deleted material as well.
@Bdakkon3 жыл бұрын
I always figured they simply overwhelmed him. Sure it cost them A LOT of people to do it but eventually they wore him down enough to get him shackled into his throne at which point they managed to stake him until he finally "died". (when normally 1 impale is enough Dumah took 3)
@Contevent3 жыл бұрын
Considering the angles of the shot, it is likely they did use ballista while he was in battle. He probably stumbled backward to his throne after the second shot, and the third pinned him down. They tried to burn him, but it didn't work, so they shackled him where he stood.
@lukzombi84133 жыл бұрын
Maybe they were able to kill him by the device similar to cheiroballistra? It was quite specific weapon used by Roman army, something between heavy crossbow and balista. Strong enough to pierce any type of armor, mobile and small enough to use it in narrow corridors in dumahim town.
@fighterx98402 жыл бұрын
That's pretty cool.
@RoadWulf2 жыл бұрын
I had similar thoughts, given the size of the spears and the fact they seem to be made out of large pieces of wood rather than stylized spears. I feel like he was shot with ballistae as well, and the posthumously chained to his throne. Given the Humans tactics with the rest of his kind though, I wonder why they didn't burn his corpse. Perhaps they wanted to leave him intact as a monument to their victory and Dumah's hubris.

The constrict ability could be reimagined in the future as a sudden burst of stunning and choking energy that Dumahim could emit from their fist when performing a rare esoteric martial art punch that involves a circular wind-up technique. My problem with the Rhino likening is that it feels it would kinda negate the melee weapon prowess Dumah had. Also, wasn't there like an additional lore element to the Dumahim that in their devolution they gained the attribute of their bodies being able to be fused together with the armor they wear if worn for a long long time? Man, you know what I miss? Depictions of the other lieutenants in a similar state of their devolution! Past their intro appearance, but before their total devolution! Just like how we saw Dumah here since at the time the wraith Raziel encountered him his devolution was paused for years keeping his rather humanoid build. So here we have a giant armored tank who can drain your blood with his long tongue, drain your soul from a distance, impervious to conventional attacks, a master combatant who is also extremely versed in fighting armored targets since he has a blacksmith lore heritage, can emit a sort of constriction energy at close range, and can shake the ground at long range to stun potentially dozens of foes. And he can do almost all of these tricks in the spectral realm with the exception of blood draining! His only downfall is bad strategy (and the usual vampire weaknesses).

Dumah was a brilliant warrior and strategist. He opted for a new path of evolution, becoming a wraith like Raziel, to have a fighting chance. The difference of course, he can't shift realms like Raziel and make a new body in planar portals, so once he lost his body in the furnace, he was done.
@FFKonoko2 жыл бұрын
@@papapapa16 that is neither a new path of evolution, nor a brilliant choice. All vampire spirits when left long enough to fetter in the spectral plane, adapt and begin to feast on souls. There are numerous examples, the entire vampire wraith enemy type. Dumah was struck down by vampire hunters, but stuck around in the spectral plane and brought that ability back once raziel removed the impaling implements. No different to that random melchahim that you pull a staff out of when first learning about vampire wraiths. It's true that his body stopped changing while he was dead. YES! Finally another episode of this simply incredible character study series, Dumah is one of the most interesting cases of Kain's lieutenants, cus as you said he managed to retain most of the benefits of his transformation without much downsides, fighting him for the first time is beyond scary, and honestly is one of the things you would wish you could forget how to do, solely to go through again. Soul Reaver did that really well, seeing as Raziel is usually at a disadvantage against his brethren, and you'd have to come up with a way to get the upper hand, it made fights so much more interesting than a brawl. Honestly the only thing I find is a shame is the fact that Turel is kidnapped through time by Azimuth so we dont get to see how he would've been in soul reaver 1, can't really complain though cus finding him in defiance was an unsettling surprise to say the least. A question though, who do you think you're gonna be covering after your done with the lieutenants? Janos or Vorador maybe? Mortanius? The prophecy of the hylden/vampire champion? I'd say the guardians but I dont think we have alot about most of them which is a shame. Looking forward to the next video though! I knew about the hidden cut scene but only because of curiosity, since I liked seeing how the world's between living and spirit looked differently I just warped to the spirit in his chamber and found him there. Very cool.

Dumah’s armor is a result of his insecurity the same way Zephon’s evolution was a result of his cowardice and Rahab’s was of his desperation. This isn’t really about Dumah, but I had a related thought. I always wondered what Kain’s evolution was. (Yes I acknowledge Kain abandoning his kingdom during Nosgoth but he’s still really fucking old) I believe The Heart of Darkness spent thousands of years attaching Kain to the Reaver . He didn’t change like his sons because his alteration was different. It’s why he lived after Raziel tore his heart out and also why spectral reaver was the only weapon that could kill him. That was his evolution. It would even explain how Janos knew who Raziel was without knowing he was the spirit within the Reaver. I’d love to see a video on. Vorador and I know you don’t like Blood Omen 2 but I’d be glad if you did a video for Faustus, Magnus, etc.

Kain didn't change because he used the time devices after throwing Raziel to the abyss. He didn't want to wait another eternity!

I thought Turel had control of the forges cause the lava rivers were located in Nozgoths North-Eastern mountains where Turels territory was directly located.

So I'm seeing some interesting theories to explain the rotted Dumahim corpses like the snow slowly melting them or Dumah feeding on their souls but there is a line that does seem to confirm that vampire bodies should decompose. When Raziel see's the body of Janos he seems shocked that Janos has not decayed, even going so far as to ask how it's possible. and that's only five hundred years. So it stands to reason that the considerably weaker Dumahim could have rotted away over the thousand or so years between Raziel's death and resurrection

If there’s a game series that needs a remake, it’s the Legacy of Kain series. Hopefully your channel will help put a spotlight on the series and gain a new found interest with developers!

I played this game a lot as a teen. I knew everything about this game.........until my friend asked if i had ever shifted in the throne room before starting the right. I was like no, why the hell would i bother? And then did it to humor him and BOOM, mind blown.

Love these analysis videos on the brethren. But im surprised you didnt mention how Dumah was the only brother who took a step forward looking distressed when Raziel's wings were ripped.

Really ? He did ?
@brandonkirk52363 жыл бұрын
@@JabamiLain My mistake, I just started a replay about a week ago. While he didnt actually take a step forward, he did in fact show visible distress as if he were about to interfere. Almost looked like he stayed his hand because all the other bretheren were just watching. It all happens rather fast, right when Kain rips the bones and Raziel collapses to the floor, Dumah is right behind Kain. Also I noticed in the same intro scene, Right before Raziel kneels to reveal his wings, Dumah in fact notices them early and subtly tenses up as if he knew Kain wouldn't be happy
