The Rahab model is certainly an improvement. While I would have preferred a graphical Remake (like what Konami is doing with MGS 3), I'm still excited for this Remaster. Fans have waited long enough.

My issue with Kain, especially in that SR2 Pillars scene is his eyes are too... bug eyed? His eye expression looks better in the original SR2. Maybe just tweak the eyes a bit and he's fine.

his eye are fine,at first glance it looks compleet yellow but if you look closely they are good they just are to the far left because he is looking at raziel not to his front. at first i thought it was bad because at first glance they looked compleetly yellow but thats not the case if you pause the video and look closer.

I think Kain looks perfectly fine.. Lets not go all on whoring on the character details for the sake of the original former designs. Saber Interactive have done a great job doing the remodeling of the enemies and Kain alike. As long as the atmosphere is done correctly or more enhanced, and the environmental art for the story telling that Raziel partakes in..

This IS a welcome relief after having one of the titles on my Steam wishlist for what seems like an age with no end in sight!! But with it coming out like this on multiple formats will now end up on my PS4!! Been a want for a LONG time now - MORE so than the Tomb Raider Remasters, which have pleasantly surprised... so really excited for an older game finally making the step up!!

I hope it will sell well so Defiance will get deeper remaster or maybe even remake and just get rid of the fixed camera pls. EDIT: btw the original capture is from Dreamcast not PS1 which looks much worse so for us who played SR1 on PS1 this remaster is even bigger upgrade

I think Rahab is a drastic improvement though from what we saw first, that was damn awful so it's definitely going in a better direction, they absolutely need to get the tone right for this game it's supposed to be dark, decadent and just overall gothic so I really hope they nail it with that, just wish we were getting a remake but with the same voices and music l. Happy it's getting any attention at all though.

I remember in soul reaver 2 there were some tough puzzles leading up to some of the bosses I remember a particular block puzzle where you had to match up a bunch of blocks to create almost like a jigsaw.

For the environments probably will only get texture adjustment, because deformations for the spirit-world are hardcoded in the model most of the time. At least in SR1

These are the right moves, I would add that I think Raziel does need a little work on his wraps.. Frankly he looks to clean and well kept. The wraps are raised a little to much and they need to be dirtier.. Looking at the original game you can see that the wraps look almost melted to the skin. I don't get that impression from the model currently. Everything else about the model looks great.

I think they should scrap the map, it isn't needed. The games are already small. The lack of a map and direct guidance made the world seem bigger. I never used the map on SR 2. That said, I'm so happy this remaster is happening and not an all new bells and whistles remake that would probably kill it. I hope they do defiance too, scrapping the crappy camera angles of course.

Yeah that's my concern too I am expecting there to be other examples where they did the same thing on any other background details just for political activism. It's not just about the statue, it's about why they decided to do that to the statue and how it's a sign that there was probably a focus to add political rubbish that is only going to be relevent for this 5-10 year period, they accepted the complaints about saturation and Rahab, that statue had the most noise made, but it was added to show "allyship" so they aren't changing it.

I wanted to get the Remastered to play with my 6yo niece but at this point I'll just dust off my CDs or play the original versions I own on my steam library. I'm not really sold on the "spirit world" aka when Raziel phases out of the material world: looks too bright and the warping looks less pronounced. From the trailer it looks like a simple dark blue filter and slight texture warp.

If they were going to fix that statue, it would have been shown off in this updated trailer as that was something small that had the most noise made. Many people suspected it was done for political messaging, which is why they got angry. If they will actually pay attention to feedback to improve Rahab and the colours, but they will make a point of keeping the statue as body type A, then that is evidence towards that statue actually being the political signal everyone suspected it was rather than a botched job from an unskilled model maker that people hoped it might be.

Oh bro you're gonna love it! You're 50, so I'm assuming you have a higher tolerance for jank than younger gamers. And these games were never that janky to begin with. Even if they were, Saber has reworked the controls to feel better. That coupled with the amazing story and I'm sure you'll still love it! @@Calypso694 I'm glad. Last time I heard about something like this, the Warcraft 3 remaster conveniently forgot to pay for the original voice actors. I also believe the GTA remaster voice actors were also shafted. ...which is weird, because the same thing didn't happen when "blu ray rereleases" happened. Everyone who had it in their contracts to receive a percentage of the profits, got something out of those. I don't think there's that much of a difference between high res rereleases of movies and remasters of video games. Anyway, even though I don't like the new models, I'll probably buy the games, just so I can support the creators of the original, not a studio and the chinese company they outsourced the remaster to. ...anyway, thanks for clearing it up. Voice actors are some of the most disrespected people in the "media business", despite not doing that much less compared to..."scene actors" I'm blanking on the proper term right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Bell got more money from that one bit part in TNG than for playing Medivh in Warcraft 3.

@@Calypso694 As a souls fan (well, a Fromsoft fan. I was into Armored Core and Echo Night before I played my first Souls game), I"m of 2 minds. On one hand, I wouldn't want a BO remake to just be yet another soulslike, although to be fair BO could be simply described as "M-Rated Zelda 3 with vampires and demons". On the other hand, I can't say soulslike combat would be unfitting for BO. Although "3 person ARPG" is a step or 3 too far.
