"Woe to the vanquished" is usually what people will tell you. Or even "woe to the conquered". It remains on of my favorite Latin phrases, along with, "Inter arma enim silent leges", traditionally translated as, "In times of war, the law falls silent." Hope that helps!

Quick history lesson - "Vae Victus" was reportedly uttered by Brennus, the Celtic king who captured Rome early in it's history. They agreed to leave for a ransom. As the gold was being weighed out, the Romans complained that the weights were unfairly balanced. Brennus threw his sword onto the scales and uttered "Vae Victis" (Woe to the Conquered). This even transformed Rome int the super power it would become. The Romans never forgot this lesson. It took them 50 years to recover.

Well thats true in a way, but then again the major role of the Elder God is to guide and manipulate Raziel, which wouldnt matter. Obviously I understand that he was behind most of the ordeals in Nosgoth, but there could be a new threat of some kind. I faintly remember the ending being half-open for a sequel?

I agree, they need to make a new one. It'd be great to see a next gen Legacy of Kain. And assuming its set after Defiance, I assume it would star Kain. Its a shame, because Soul Reaver was so much better than Blood Omen 2 (in my opinion), so I'd really like to see Kain get his own really good solo 3D title.
