I'm a big fan of the 1977 and 1995 NASB, and I've also loved the LSB. They did a fantastic job. Looking forward to the remainder of the Old Testament being released this fall. Praise God for the faithful work of these brethren, and may this work be used and sent out for the glory of God!

@@jonnydroo The 77 and 95 are nearly identical; the 77 primarily uses older English pronouns when referring to God (thee, thou, thy, thine) and the 95 uses the modern versions (you, your, yours). The 2020 has a slightly greater difference from the 95 than the 95 has to the 77; it has a slightly more dynamic/loose translation so it's easier to read, some of the Old Testament readings follow the Septuagint or Dead Sea Scrolls over the Masoretic text, and some of the language is just slightly different.

I long for the first LSB MacArthur Study Bible to be released. Then, my joy will be made full! That being said, to me, just as important, if not more, than the principles that guided this work of translation are the men who did the work. Are they faithful, humble, prayerful, godly men filled of the Holy Spirit or academics who relied on their own means and resources? Although I do not know a man's heart, I feel very confident that you are all godly men chosen by God for this humbling and majestic work. Although the confidence John MacArthur puts in you all brings me tremendous assurance, I must admit that the recent testimony given by John MacArthur about Natalya Zhakevich has brought me even more confidence that the Zhakevich Brothers (and the rest of the team of course) were hand picked by God for this very humbling work. The Lord has honored their mother's beautiful faithfulness and godliness by calling her sons to this work. What an amazing blessing to a godly mother, her children and to all of us who witness it. What an amazing testimony of the riches of His grace in the Beloved and to the majesty and sovereignty of His Providence. As such, with bold confidence, and much thankfulness, I thank the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for having raised up and thoroughly equipped such an array of godly and faithful men to complete this glorious work that will be a blessing to many until the end of this age and the tribulation to follow. May the Lord continue to bless you richly with humility and a spirit of thanksgiving while you finalize this work and may all our children and children's children be blessed by it. I'm an esv & nkjv reader, thinking of getting a nasb. Guess I'll skip the nasb & go straight for the lsb. I just hope that the lsb will keep up to the good points of other translations like esv & nkjv as well. On the side, I wonder if the footnotes in lsb will specify the name of the text eg. Septuagint, masoretic, etc when making a reference. Didn't like the esv method of just making a general reference to "early manuscripts".

Why is it that no one ever seems to explain why second Thessalonians 2:13 has been changed to first fruits instead of from the beginning this happens in many Bibles not all of them and I just don’t know why it never gets explained.

My suspect is that older translations were based on the textus receptus, while the newer translations like nasb & esv were based on critical text. But I hope the lsb team will address on the text that they're using, which my guess it would be the critical text since it's an improvement from the nasb

Looked a bit at it and it's because there is one manuscript variant that reads "first fruits" instead of beginning. It isnt enough for there to be general consensus on it like most variants, but it's just enough to make us think twice. At least that's what my research found. I could very well be wrong.

It's amazing how many people make such a big deal out of such small imperfections. There will never be an absolutely perfect translation of the Word of God, because fallible men produce them all. Perhaps it would be profitable to rejoice that the LSB has eliminated some of the imperfections of the NASB, as it corrected imperfections in the American Standard Version, which in turn corrected (along with the Revised Version in the UK) corrected imperfections in the KJV.

Every word of God matters. The author of the scriptures, the Holy Spirit, chose each word for a purpose, so accuracy is important. Why wouldn’t we want the most accurate english translation as possible?

I don't believe you are being faithful in what you claim, It's so near the passover season that the rousing of Christ from the dead being on my heart , I notice that the LSB follows tradition instead of being faithful to the words of the text: Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2,16:9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1, 20:19, Acts20:7, 1Corinthians 16:2, you translated "one", as "first", and "sabbaths" as "week". You added the word "day". There is no reason for this other than tradition. I do commend you for using Yahweh in the Hebrew scriptures . Thank you for your time.

I grew to hate the NIV because some of the footnotes* it seemed to me, every footnote was written by negative critique or the skeptic ... I don't listen to criticism concering scripture just as I wouldn't listen to critique of U.S. constitution. The skillset of a skilled writer in the present cannot compare to the depth of these documents, even if the skillset were present the altruistic mindset has long been lost in modernism and post-modernist eras.

If they were going for accuracy and consistency, I wish they would've changed "lovingkindess" in the Old Testament to something like "faithful love" or "loyal love." You don't show "lovingkindess" or "mercy" to God, but Israel was expected to show Yahweh hesed, חֶסֶד. Sigh* 🙄

As to the use of italics (27:47), if their purpose is to alert the reader that the translators supplied words not in the original languages for the purpose of clarity and readability, then why "minimize" their use? To "minimize" their use may be misleading to the reader. We are told that italicized words are supplied by the translators, so we assume that if words are not italicized then they are in the original text. See how that is misleading to the reader? If the translators are not concerned about the "readability" of the greek text into English (sentence structure, etc), then why would the translators be concerned about how italicized words impact the "readability"? Those of us who are not fluent in the original languages appreciate the transparency that italicized words brings to the English translation. Since the more "literal" translations are by necessity more difficult to read in English (sentence structure, etc), why would we be concerned about italicized words? Perhaps the translators didn't need to worry about how italicized words "impacted" the "readability" of the LSB and could have been even more transparent than the NASB, not less?

Personally I need Large (12pt) or even Giant (14pt) print and would love to see a JMac Study Bible even thought I bought an NASB 2nd edition this month. Other things like Outreach Bible, NT, John and Readers, just to name a few. God Bless. Anyone have a recommendation for a book with Greek with English translation? A lot of non-English translations translated God’s name based on ‘Yahweh’. The English ‘LORD’ is really quite odd. It’s about time.

God bless you in Jesus name 🙏☦️✝️🥰 @Faith on Fire and critics of LSB My brother, I'm a nobody off the street. Not a scholar. My first Bible in english was and is the AMP. It was the best for me to actually understand what I'm reading with all the extensive in-text amplifications and detailed footnotes at the bottom. For the Old and New Testaments, but especially Old, the AMP was a blessing. All highlighted in through and through; but I realized that after I'm done with AMP, I need a bible without the many amplifications and footnotes, something that's as literal as possible. I didn't need the overall 'point', I wanted word for word, literal. If it is a Jewish phrase that's used at the time that wouldn't make sense in english, I wanted it there. Don't worry about me not knowing the meaning, I'll google it; that was my motto in that sense. So I started doing research, started comparing bible translations, and I bought the following: 3 Young's literal translations, one being Yahweh edition (YLT is more literal and more accurate than the KJV, also old english. But I'm too stupid to read in old english all the time. I'd read it much slower, so I looked for literal translations in today's english.) 3 NASB 1995's, one 10.5 font for me, one for my sister, and one 12 font. 1 NASB 2020 1 NKJV 1 Interlinear (huge textbook like, with hebrew greek english) 1 KJV 4+ AMP's, my go to, some gave to people, some donated, one I highlight in, 2 I keep as clean copy It'll take too long for me to give you a thorough run through of all the chapters that I've compared between these translations, searching for the most literal, but here's some: The texts I used mostly are Psalms (1,2,3,4,5,18, etc etc), Ecclesiastes (5 in particular), and Isaiah (48, 49, 50, maybe some others, but these the main ones). Didn't really compare the New Testament because when I did, all of them were really good and accurate, so you can't go wrong. So for instance Psalm 2, when I decided that I finally found the most literal translation in the NASB 1995, it gives us "Do homage to the son" instead of the proper "Kiss the Son". So I get NASB 2020, which has "Kiss the Son". But then in NASB 2020, where the original translates 'man', 2020 translates 'mankind', or where brethren, it translates 'brothers and sisters'. Then they had 'let's' instead of let us. So I couldn't use that, even though in many places, the translation is better than 1995. Then the NKJV. Overall pretty much identical to KJV, but where the KJV is inconsistent with the literal translations of interlinear and amp and nasb, the NKJV is also inconsistent, because it stays true to KJV tradition, which KJV only people seem to not care about. If I was a KJV only guy, I would welcome NKJV with open arms, but in terms of literal word for word, it's not always accurate. The YLT is more accurate, and even it isn't always word for word, and it's a lot harder to read than KJV, because it stays loyal even to the tenses. I was starting to get a headache at some point, because I'd take chapters from Isaiah and compare NKJV and NASB 1995 side by side in Bible Gateway, and they would each have their different word picks, both of which don't match the interlinear. Like, in a verse in the NKJV, word [a] would be correct to the literal and [b] would be incorrect or straight up missing, and in NASB 1995, word [a] would be incorrect, and [b] correct. For me, the reason I looked for the best possible literal translation is because I want to memorize God's word, I want it imprinted in me, my brain, my heart, my being, and I want it accurate. If it says "Kiss the Son lest he be angry, and you perish in the way", that's what I want, not "Do homage" or "pay homage". If it says "He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord mocks them." I don't want to see "holds them in derision". And where it says "I have begotten you", I don't want to see "fathered you" (nkjv). And all this is only from Psalm 2. When I found the LSB, it clicked. It really is the best translation. All those inconsistencies I mentioned, they're all gone in the LSB. I checked a lot of them from the Psalms and Ecclesiastes and Isaiah, and LSB really actually does get it right. Not only that, but the text is actually readable, memorizable, and it flows. My only concern with it was that they wrote Yahweh instead of Lord, but not for your reason. I on the contrary of what you said, always believed that Yahweh is the Lord's name, but my problem was that it was too holy to constantly write down, that's why the Jews changed it to Adonai, they didn't want to say the Lord's Holy Name in vain, and I support that. But when I started reading parts of the LSB (it's on their website, they have an app, all free), it clicked with me. Memorizing and reading verses with the Lord's Holy Name, Yahweh, makes me feel a type of way. I'm kind of scared of it because it is Holy, but it gives you a sort of intimacy with the Lord, calling Him by His Holy Name. When you read His name, you automatically want to never sin again in anything you do, so that your body is worthy to say His name without dropping dead. I was like yes, Amen, HalleluYAH, praise the Lord, this is it. This is the true update to the 1995. Your arguments don't hold up my brother. A huge amount of scholars, after extensive study, have said that YHWH is pronounced Yahweh. I have no issues with people pronouncing His Name Jehovah, or Lord, but I think Yahweh is the Lord's Name. Again, only based on the research I did and scholars I listened to. Regarding having 6 translators instead of 50, it's a translation update, not a seperate translation, so they don't need many people. I can say on my own behalf that these people did a phenomenal job with the LSB. Regarding it being a Calvinist bible, that's just an outright lie; nowhere do they push their beliefs or steer the text towards their beliefs. I'm baptised Orthodox, but in reality just a Christian, would say non-denominational, and the LSB is true to the original texts ( especially as an update from 1995). Your point about the KJV my brother, I love the KJV, I have nothing against it, but it does have inconsistencies; compare some above mentioned verses with interlinear greek and hebrew, and the YLT, you'll see it yourself. So for me, I'm going to have to work for the next week to pay for my neurotic bible spending spree these past days lol, but today I ordered 2 double column leather faux LSB bibles with 10 point font, one for me and one for my sister, and 1 double column hard cover LSB, just to have it. I praise the Lord that I found this translation, and I'll be using it as my main one along with my beloved highlighted and noted in AMP (2015) with its extensive amplifications and footnotes, as a reference.

I am planning on getting the whole Bible once it is released. Will only a reference Bible be released by the end of the year, or will a study Bible with John MacArthur’s notes be released at that time as well? Each edition of the NASB has been increasing modified to "make it more readable." I have taken note of the many occurrences where the "Literal" wording contained in the margins of the NASB95 is now in the text of the LSB. However, the translators are not entirely consistent (i.e., 1 Jn 2:8, 25; 3:1, 21). I counted 23 occurrences of literal notes in 1 Thessalonians (NASB95). All but 8 are included now in the text of the LSB. Of those eight, six would be difficult reads in English. Also, I have uncovered a small number of typos and translation errors that I won't list here. Nevertheless, this is proving to be an excellent work that will bless many.

@@zachtbh the dss and lxx have the last line in the nrsv. it also makes internal sense, it is a psalm that starts every line with a letter in hebrew. Line 1 starts with "A", 2 starts with "B", 3 with "C", etc. The last line fully finishes that.

Acts 8:37 has nothing to do with "tradition". "Oldest & Best" are neither. The verse is quoted by Irenaeus 150 years before Vaticanus & Sinaiticus. It is cited by Cyprian ninety years before Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, and it has an unbroken chain of testimony from the Old Latin (second century) and the Vulgate (fifth century) to the uncial manuscript “E” (sixth to seventh century) to the present time. I find it shocking, information available to all by way of modern technology is ignored by scholarly "tradition". Having said that, I appreciate your work and will undoubtedly make use of it. Why not translate βαπτίζω (baptizo) as immerse or wash? If the goal is to make more clear and stay closer to the original - as with YHWH into Yahweh, or doulos into slave - why stay with the intentionally less clear transliteration, rather than actually translating baptizo? 🤔🙏

They need to rethink their explanation of the text critical issues of Jude 5 and Acts 8:37. Neither case is as clear as they say. Additionally there is a theological problem with Acts 8:37 according to their reasoning. It’s not Scripture but they are including it.

I'm concerned that the LSB is going to alienate a lot of readers with the liberal use of Yahweh and slave, particularly those who grew up reading Lord, God, and servant. My gut tells me that the LSB won't be appearing in as many Baptist pews as thought. I do appreciate what the LSB is doing, however. I will have multiple copies. As a side note, in Introductory Hebrew in seminary, I would translate "Yahweh" as "Yahweh" from the Masoretic Hebrew. The professor would "correct" my translation to LORD or God. I told him but that's not what the Hebrew says! LOL

I hope they rectify this HUGE mistake. YAHWEH not only is not God's name, it is not even Hebrew and it cannot be formed if we follow Hebrew rules of forming names. I cannot understand how these so-called scholars don't know the basics of how Hebrew names are formed according to the Hebrew rules of forming names. As they say, it takes a scholar to mess it up! Yehoshua, Yehoshafat, Yehonatan... formed with God´s name YEHOVAH. YAH being the contraction Y-ehov-AH. And being the essence of God´s nature, being eternal, Yehovah comes from the same root as Ehyeh: the hollow root HYH. Yehovah is actually a combination of three verb-forms: Hayah "he was", Hoveh "he is", and Yih'yeh "he is now and will continue to be in the future". Together Hayah, Hoveh, and Yih'yeh (in Hebrew you read from right to left Y- (ih'yeh) Hov- (eh) (Hay) -ah combine into the name Yehovah. By the way, to be able to pronounce Yahweh in Hebrew, you have to add 2 aleph letters to YHVH which then it is not God´s name. The only reason for not accepting the 2,000 manuscripts that have written down with full vowel points YEHOVAH is simple, tradition and bias. So even though I know these facts are not popular, you just cannot deny them. It is pure grammar and Hebrew rules of forming names.

BTW, I would have been content if they stuck with YHVH. Let's face it, Christians have been calling God Jehovah because of the vowel points for adonai.
