You can grab the '06/'07 WRX TR rear backing plates if you don't want to use adapters or trim. Brembos need roughly a 17x7.5 et 53. A protip on lugs is that you can use Nissan or Nismo lugs. They specifics elude me at the moment. They aren't quite as long as the ARP ones. It gives you another length option. What rear sway bar do you have installed? Old Whiteline? I noticed you're still using the old lateral links.

That's really cool I'll definitely remember that! Yes it's a whiteline rear sway bar for the 92-94 Legacy that we made custom end links from a few other pieces to keep these old lateral links. They actually still sell this sway bar!

I had the prodrive version of the speedlines and they fit over the brembo GT big brake kit with no spacers. On a 93 legacy ss. Surprised they didn’t fit over the sti brembos. The sti caliper is a fat boi though. Looks great. Makes me want another legacy.

Yeah the prodrive version is not +48 offset haha it's a proper racecar spec wheel. That sounds amazing though, you should build another one!

I may have just skipped over it but what brand caliper adapters did you get? I was looking into KNS but dont see them available/ in stock and I’d need it soon :/ Was also hoping for some clarification. I got some 5x100 / 5x114 rear DBA rotors but I didn’t measure inner diameter. are you saying either bigger shoe brakes or rotors with smaller inner diameter are needed ? And amazing video !! I’ve only seen forums sharing this information but seeing the process in a video greatly helps out! I’m doing a brembo swap on my ‘13 WRX hatch and this video is spot on!!

I believe we did get the KNS ones actually, they were the silver version. Yeah so you can either get the flat irons tuning conversion rotors that have the smaller inner diameter for the stock shoes, or you can buy flat irons tuning conversion shoes that are way thicker to take up the extra space. We didn't want to risk breaking the thicker shoe snow drifting or something like that. So we spent the extra money for the special rotor in the rear. Glad it helped! It was not cheap to get this together haha

Wow the car looks great like out of a 97 rally. Where did you order parts from? Those Speedline wheels are legendary! I badly want a set but I should get the 5x114 and dont want to update my 02 wrx 5x100.

Thanks! We got the wheels off a guy local to Portland, got pretty lucky there. Most of the parts we got from flat irons tuning like the brackets and I believe the conversion rotors.

Yes but the speedlines fit better!

hello my car is a legacy GL wagon 1991 S1 and I want to start modifying it and I want to put brake discs on the rear wheels what should I do to do it I am new with these cars and it is my first car, I think your videos motivate me a lot
@HackSquadGarage Жыл бұрын
These cars are like Legos, you will need to find rear knuckles for disk brakes, you can use parts from other cars like old impreza or 2nd gen legacy as well. I believe you will also need the parking brake cables. And make sure the axles you have are compatible with your rear differential and the new knuckle. These are are great to modify, they are essentially the same as 93-00 impreza, shares a lot of parts.

What is the weight difference of these brake setups? Any effect on steering/handling with all these spacers and added unsprung weight? And wth is the car smoking like old diesel?
@RlEL444 Жыл бұрын
I had been playing with the cold start fuel tables and transient throttle table. Unfortunately that meant at the time of this video it was rich af when cold causing the smoke. All fixed now.
@RlEL444 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure on the exact weight difference but the rotors are for sure heavier. I did not notice any difference in handling but I didn't exactly do back to back track days comparing.

What year did you grab the brembos from?

The brembo calipers were from a 05 sti but all gd sti calipers are the same
