In regards to Chicago Police, they wouldn't be in the position that they're in right now with all the policies that are handcuffing the police had the department fired and/or disciplined problem officers. Instead, CPD doesn't discipline officers & the department AND the union defends officers at every turn, even the bad officers.

It's remarkable that this speaker on behalf of the police found accountability for every stakeholder in this issue except policing.

He sounds upset that American citizens are fed up with the police state. I don't care if you don't like it buddy. He sounds pretty upset that the government is cracking down on corruption. Exercising your rights is not "Empowering criminals". You don't like your officers having to comply with new laws? I live in a small town, and even here the police managed to escalate the situation to the point of placing his hand on his sidearm. I got pulled over for a "dim tail light". I explained that i had a concealed carry permit and that it was on my right side. He called for backup, started screaming for me to put my hands on the wheel and i thought he was going to pull his sidearm on me. I didn't break the law that night but he really wished i did.

No argument get rid of corrupt police officers. Nobody addresses the REAL PROBLEM , people.

Nothing corrupt about that, you have a gun, the officer doesn’t know you, your mental state or intentions (officers have been shot in very similar traffic stop situations), he’s taking precautions to ensure he goes home after his shift. keeping hands on wheel and having a second officer for safety is likely protocol.

this dude goes on tour saying that current officers grew up when jim crow laws were in effect. well, of course they were since you kept around people that were born in the 50s or 60s. how about hiring younger people that would buy into the community policing mindset?

You have to be under the age of 35 to test for the Chicago Police Department. So they are hiring younger people.

It sounds like to me the cop just doesn't like the fact that they NOT receiving voluntary compliance since people are more aware of their rights and are choosing to exercise them. The issue is choosing to exercise your rights does NOT give them reasonable suspicion that a person has committed a crime. BUT cops all too often will use this as an excuse to then violate their rights by then trying to find ANYTHING they can charge the person for in order to gain back their dignity. I think the cops have gotten lazy because they have assumed ppl WILL voluntarily comply to their orders. This is made all the more awkward because they are being filmed and they feel disrespected and humiliated. Which EVERYONE doesn't really deal well with. This DOES mean that we need to train cops how to deal with getting something WRONG! This guys fails to see that all videos give ppl more DATA nothing else and data is ALWAYS a good thing. Now just like he said about the guy who stole a vehicle and rammed a cop car. "If he hadn't broken the law then he wouldn't have gotten shot." Unfortunately that doesn't play out because plenty of people have been KILLED by cops WERE 100% innocent. If you put the shoe on the other foot then I'd say "If you don't want public outrage then stop behaving the a way which CAUSES public outrage!" Also comparing the number of murders in Chicago in NO way is related to the number of police killings since of COURSE they shouldn't be shooting people since they are NOT murderers!

It doesn't cause public outrage, the media TELLS people to be outraged. If the media said that "a violent man driving at recklessly high speeds attempted to run down police officers, who fired in self defense", would people be outraged? No.

What causes one person to commit crime and the next one to work hard at being a decent citizen? That difference is the real elephant in the room. In environments with great social injustice and rampant crime, many people still abide by the law. It is clear that use of force or threatening it and punishment does little to address crime. We have failed terribly at addressing the root cause of crime, which resides inside the criminal mind. Thank you for pointing out that there is nearly zero mental health care where it is needed the most.

I don’t think they should bring a gun to a peaceful protest or attacking officer but everybody has a right to defend themselves if they’re being wrongly attacked and they shut down Michigan Avenue because of the mayor and his favoritism to the 1% the magnificent mile it’s where the 1% dwell I don’t think that was a bad thing

So true, when your Civil Rights are violated by the Police...then the Police need to be prosecuted! I got my degree in Criminal Justice. One day and for many days after, I called the police to help me, I begged and I pleaded for them to help me. They laughed, said they were busy, said they didn't have time. I kept every single test and paper I wrote in college. I held onto them because I thought that maybe one day if one of my children went into law enforcement they could look through some of my old work to help them through the long nights of studying. When those police officers and judge disregarded my Civil Rights to be safe, and when I stood before a judge that cared not If I as a citizen had a right to get help from the police... I went home shredded every piece of homework and tests I took to get my degree in Law Enforcement and decided, that if I wasn't safe in America and I had NO CIVIL RIGHTS, then whatever happens to America from that day forth...America had NO RIGHTS to be safe either!. If it's the United States or the Divided States...like the judge ruled in favor of my abusers, then America will be ruled by her abusers too. Signed, If one falls ,then so shall we all!

Wrong. His commentary is one sided. He is a law enforcement apologist who does not believe in holding police accountable. He is part of the problem. To men like this, ANYTHING the police do is justified. People like this have to go if we're going to make an honestly attempt reform in our justice system.

Anyone who leads the police on a high speed taunt (stolen vehicle or not) should be stopped with deadly force ASAP because they are criminals inflicting deadly force on the public and the people who are trying to stop them - no excuses. Also, anyone who leaves the keys accessible to a vehicle that enables the theft of that vehicle (i.e. in a store parking lot or on the street) should be liable as an accomplice in any crime committed using that vehicle. When "soccer mom" pulls up to the convenience store for a soda and leaves the car running doesn't have the intelligence to be on the streets. AND of course politicians (read government) and the media are out of their minds! You expected Obasturd to do something in Chicago? He wants nothing to do with it. Look at the DOJ now!!!!

It’s real clear the OP 78tag has ZERO legal education. Your first premise violates the 4th, 6th, and 14th Amendments. The current measures by which police stop pursuits may not be foolproof, but they work. Your second premise? Aside from potentially violating the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment, you failed to establish intent.
