I totally agree. There is something to be said for the authenticity of practical effects. The special effects of the 90's and even early 2000s look more dated than 80's films.

+Brian Bloomfield I haven't seen anything to this day that compares to that set. Whoever did it was amazing. Even the pollen blowing through the air.......such an amazing detail.

I couldn't agree more. It really brought the fantasy to life in a way that movies just can't today. CGI can be breathtaking when done right, but it cant' compare to something you can touch, and feel, and for even a moment in our jaded adult lives, pretend is real.

Hey, it takes the same amount of effort for the people who render films in CGI nowadays, too... The only difference is that now they have computers that don't need for them to build the environments... but the conceptualization is still there.

Perhaps the greatest single film and score of ALL TIME!! People can say what they want about Legend having no story.... seems to be the consensus of it.. even in reviews back when it came out. No story, only effects driven... those people are allowed to be wrong.. they're missing the point and not taking it all in. Soaking up the feelings it inspires in you. Touching you deep down in your soul.

When you hear something in a dream and you feel it fading and you think, no!!!!!!!!! please! I can understand Americans loving Tangerine Dream score since version with their score was theatrical version of the movie, but TBH it's just not comparable to what Goldsmith did with tracks for this movie. He created PLENTY of amazing movie scores, yet he himself stated that this one was his the best and favourite one. TD score has this fablish vibes. JG ost has this dark and light side. I love it.

I love, Love, LOVE this movie. The ending is heartbreaking to me though. Lily was meant for greater things than being a Princess. Her and Jack belonged in the forest, forever, with the Fae.
@Kawayoporu8 жыл бұрын
+Jake How is it heartbreaking, are you thinking princess Lily lost her innocence to Darkness, cus I don't get it, Jack and Lily are in love with each other, Lily didn't lose her innocence at all?
@charmingboi778 жыл бұрын
No, it's because Jack and Lily can never truly end up together. When she asks if she can come back tomorrow, it's implied that they will indeed see each other again, and for a time enjoy one another's company, but she will end up succumbing to her duty as a Princess. She can't marry him.
@Kawayoporu8 жыл бұрын
+Jake Is that in a American cut? I always thought Jack and Lily will marry, cus they fall in love, Jack kisses Lily after he save her, because Lily asked in the beginning if they are ready to kiss.
@Kawayoporu8 жыл бұрын
+Jake Rrr, can't edit, I just went to see the parts of the movie, again of Jack and Lily and she said whoever finds her ring will marry her, oh, aha, I think maybe your mistaken, that means she will marry Jack for finding her ring, she didn't get to see him rescue her in this golden prince outfit and she was still asleep or unconscious when he put her ring on, they both say they love each other, she called him prince and Lord Jack so this is the correct engage relationship(I think it's called) in the Director's cut, but when I read wikipedia on there was saying platonic relationship, I didn't know what platonic is and it said it means don't work out and not sexual on google, but now I learned how to say that I don't believe in platonic, it's disgusting when a relationship split and never be lasted to be married forever, agree?
@charmingboi778 жыл бұрын
Yes, Lily set a challenge for her suitors. Whoever found her ring, she would marry. But this was done in private, because she knew that although she wanted to marry Jack, she knew she never really could. The King, her father, would NEVER allow a forest dweller to marry his daughter. She knew this, and Jack knew this. So it was a game between them. They both know the time they had together would always be theirs, but it wouldn't last forever.

I respectfully disagree, but not entirely. Jerry Goldsmith did make an excellent score for this film, but IMO, his score didn't fit this movie as well as Tangerine Dream did. If it had been with another film, or just on its own merit, it's a great score.

Gump scared me in Children of the Corn on TV when I was under age 7. It wasn't till I saw the non edited version as an adult did I realize he wasn't the main villain. A few years ago I swear I saw the actor shopping at a store and when I paused pointing at him wanting to ask he smiled and shook his head yes. I got scared and ran away, but odd thing, he's rather short. Children of the corn is just to terrifying.

👿 'Do you think you can upset the score of a film and not pay the price!?' 👉 😁
@davidlamothe22714 ай бұрын
this is actually from the original score composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Goldsmith worked 6 months on tnis score and it was on the European release of Legend. The execs at the studio wanted a different score in the USA/North America release and they hired Tangerine Dream (a two person German electronic music duo similar to Kraftwerk, etc) to do a three week rush job soundtrak to release to US audiences. The EUR version of Legend is closer to Scott's true vision, the US version is slashed to smithereens (almost 30 minutes of the film slashed) and didnt do too well because of studio meddling in original release. There are three versions, the EUR release with Goldsmith soundtrak, the US release 30 minutes shorter with TD soundtrack, and the "directors cut" which I believe is a studio construct. The DVD collectors ed has all three including both soundtracks.
