I was curious about this MA and went to a seminar with Martin Wheeler. In a multiple attack drill we were all wrongly focussing on one person at a time. He demonstrated with his eyes closed how to relax and fight multiple opponents. We all had a go and the experience was universal: the harder you go in, the harder you get hit. It was overwhelming and confusing. No Psycho bullshit, just amazing movement and very hard hits. Yes its like dancing - but with bruises.

@Valentyn90A Systema is a lot older than Ryabko or Kadochnikov. Kadochinikov as a mechanical engineer analyzed the core movements and then taught them in terms of modern principles of leverage, momentum and the like. Ryabko and Kadochnikov are friends. At one of the first seminars for Americans Ryabko gave, Kadochinikov showed up at the farewell dinner and they both celebrated the Americans' participation. Ryabko learned Systema from his Dad who was one of Stalin's Falcons.

@ThePopeye90 yes (in my own opinion) E.g. when we learn to punch, u can start by just moving forearms, so the only movement is occurring at the elbow (no hips or shoulders, arm must be independent), then use more of the arm muscles and start to include more body. The purpose is to explore and not limit yourself to a few kind of punches. This will make you familiar with many punches allowing you to choose the best solution for any given situation...

As soon as your in a stance this influences your movements greatly by making some easy and some harder to do, another reason we train without stance is u might be in a situation where its best not to display your fighting skills or if your injured

this is similar to aikido training. the training is to help you understand the principles of movement/contact while at the same time not hurting yourself. it's like kata. you don't learn kata to use kata to fight. you learn kata to absorb principles distilled from combat experience. e.g. founder of aikido took his training and went around challenging other schools, streetfights, etc. and then evolved it further. you gotta walk before you can run. but running is not walking.

systema isnt just a combat art, it isnt fighting somebody, its eliminating somebody. The russian army (Spetsnaz) is using systema too. All the attacks and moves are based on how ppl fought in the war centuries ago, its based on the natural movement of the body. It looks like mikhail is doing nothing but his movements are so tiny u cant almost see them.
@Valentyn90A
@Valentyn90A 12 жыл бұрын
@taiji218 Yes, so Im still right. Kadochnikov found it and made a paperwork for it, wrote books about it etc. Systema itself is just conservative use of our physics laws and mechanics of the movement, so it exists since the beginning of the univerce. But Kadochnikov is the guy who u'd be calling the actual founder. Because he made it formal and simply put it on paper describing stuff.

I'm not insinuating that Systema is rubbish, as I said, it's a good system. I was alluding to the people who seem to lose control of their bodies when punched in the stomach, or are rendered paralyzed after a pat on the back or whatever. There's no physical basis for it whatsoever. People want to believe that their teacher has incredible "powers", so they go along with it. Once again, I think it's a good system, but there's too much "magic" in Ryabko's methods.

@spartandog1000 Not faked but moderated. It's really tough to show real combat because you end up with too many damaged or dead students. It's hard to teach anything beyond that at that point. When Vasiliev first started teaching in Canada he routinely knocked out his students because that was the way he was taught to teach Systema (by Ryabko) in the military. Vasiliev quickly learned that method doesn't work too well with civilians.

Aikido was a martial art created by samurai to fight swordsmen while unarmed, it hasn't been used for its actual purpose since the 1800s in Japan. Systema remaps the neurological brain processes and muscle memory of its practicioners so that they can move in the most perfectly efficient and effective manner regardless of situation or scenario. Every legendary ancient warrior to exist eventually learned how to move in the most perfectly efficient and effective manner after hundreds to thousands of fights to the death. Systema teaches it outright without the need to put your life on the line.

The way i understand this issue is that Alexei founded 'Systema Kadochnikov' while Mikhail founded 'Systema' wich is confusing given that the word is widely used in russian martial arts to describe diferent styles (Ej. Kadochnikov). But those are just marketing names for the west. Russians have been practicing combat skills centuries before Kadochnikov or Ryabko. Its like arguing sombody founded "martial arts". Any spetsnaz trained systema master fighting at full tilt would one punch kill any pro ufc fighter and the ufc fighter would never see the punch coming. Systema is taught to Russias most elite military groups, the russian military don't f around with fake martial arts and most especially doesn't f around teaching its most elite groups a fake martial art. The fact that the spetsnaz are taught systema is perhaps the greatest possible endorsement that a martial art is legitimate humanly possible. Which sounds more legit, martial arts based around submission in an octagonal cage, or martial arts taught to elite military assassins based around reality in any situation any scenario.
@joewillson3454
@joewillson3454 3 жыл бұрын
@@SpellsOfTruth Not exactly true. Most Spetsnaz are dedicating most of their training to weapon use, tactics, and physical conditioning. Not to hand-2-hand combat. SURE, there are some great experts out there, but usually a very few would want to pursue unarmed combat proficiency to such depth. Thus, an Average UFC fighter would easily defeat an average Spetsnaz in a cage match.
@SpellsOfTruth
@SpellsOfTruth 3 жыл бұрын
@@joewillson3454 Yea you are right, i found out relatively recently that systema is not actually taught to the spetsnaz just the basics. Mikhail Ryabko was apparently taught by a former bodyguard for Joseph Stalin. Apparently its now taught to very elite Russian GRU military counter intelligence units(aka assassins). What I said about pro ufc fighters being killed in one punch applies to the elite Russian GRU military counter intelligence units(aka assassins), but yes you are right, it probably doesn't apply to spetsnaz.

Do you mean are they faking it? No, they are not. This vid is probably 6 or 7 years old, but I recognize the majority of these guys to be senior instructors. Mikhail wouldn't use an inexperienced practicioner with those throws and that is why it can look staged. Although they don't know exactly what sort of movement he will use, they are well trained to deal with whatever's coming. It's all about human bio-mechanics. In Systema you learn how to properly absorb most any attack.

they really had no choice. Plus alot of times people go flying instead of something breaking. Akido doesn't throw with wrist lock. Its the only choice the person has at that angle, broken wrist or fly.

No disrespect to systema. I'm sure that old fat colonel could probably really kick some ass if he wanted to. He looks very heavy handed & deceptively fast. But those guys were overdoing it just a bit with the acting. Especially that last part.

WHEN YOURE GRAPPLING WITH A PARTNER, AN EXPERIENCED GRAPPLER WILL FEEL WHERE IS OPPONENT IS VULNERABLE. WHAT MICHAEL SENSES WHERE HE IS VULNERABLE AND GOES IN THAT DIRECTION LIKE PULLING AN INVESIBLE STRING@ YOU CAN SEE THIS SAME THING WITH THE FOUNDER OF AIKIDO SENSI URYSIBA!!

this reminds me of that white guy who claimed to have the 'death touch' where he would knock people out with merely a touch - worked on his students flawlessly but the camera crew and news reporter were strangely immune

except with systema its natural so you can punch someone without warning and throw them to the ground, this isnt the 1920s or the karate ring where people say "put up your dukes" and dance ltill you kick, the systema guy will probably catch it, or absorb the blow, then knock you to the ground. can people box on the ground? NO
