Companies that fund the ads make the rules. KZbin is a private platform, not public. Break the ToS, they can do whatever they want. YT is in the wrong here but being we agree to their terms, not much we can do. If we don't want this kind of "censorship", we have to go back to pre-Google KZbin where there were no ads but also no payouts. No money to be made. Wherever money is made by ads, the corps putting the money into the ads end up making the rules 😔

The ad companies could give a shot about the content they are worried about the activist organizations putting them on blast and threatening boycotts. This is most likely a government campaign to censor “disinformation” that questions the scientific orthodoxy on healthcare. YT just demonized doctors who advocate diets like keto claiming that to dangerous for the public. I think it Dr Eric berg if I’m not mistaken. At the end of the day the elites don’t want us communicating alternatives. We must defer to the government on issues. Remember the most dangerous thing facing us today is not war or collapsing economy; it’s misinformation and disinformation. Their words not mine.

I don't have a yt channel but I've noticed comments of mine that are critical of psychiatry for instance getting removed. It is pretty frightening as people won't know what they are getting into if experiences aren't allowed to be shared. Just like with steroids. It's not like people are going to stop using them if they are interested in it. But they'll be doing it less informed. Of course specifically "pro steroids" content should be reviewed carefully, but if it is a nuanced information to begin with there should be no problem.

I used to make money from instagram and once they demonetized it just wasn’t worth it anymore. I went and by hand removed almost 10k followers and set my account to private. That instagram has been my training journal since I started to learn weightlifting from Alex Lee in 2017. Contemplating going and screen recording my entire profile as a backup because I just don’t trust these massive social media companies anymore. It’s getting easier and easier now to pull the plug on my smart phone with how social media is unraveling. Time to disconnect.

So the 1 channel that was the most open and honest about steroid and steroid safety to be carefull, gets banned in 2024 for mentioning steroids? When every newer channel openly discusses it to an insane amount and dont get banned, i can only remember "docter tony huge" getting removed because he went "to far" besides that everything was almost allways allowed, and it sure didnt get your channel just REMOVED fully. All the big social media platforms are run in a way where they can take everything you have and not even tell you why. It has already happened to plenty of content creators, some of them small, some of them huge. Just look at what happened to Dr Disrespect on Twitch. I know that at least Hydrid Calisthenics cross-posts on Rumble. They just post the same video here and there (or at least used to). I feel like that's a fairly smart move, getting another basket for your eggs with very little additional work.

It's pretty upsetting honestly. I've been working from home since Covid and can pretty much guarantee I've listened to at least 1 episode of the podcast every week since I came across it. One of the best collections of long form conversations with smart people and with great information to share. Always made easily digestable. Would watch it and think sometimes, hmmm, how could I live life being as easy going as Mark. You can learn a lot just by seeing the way he interacts with people. It's a big shame for everyone involved, I hope they start up again if the old channel is truly gone. But I know Mark was looking at getting out of the podcast space in a few years time anyways, but this is abruptly far too early for that. It sucks. Hope everyone's feeling okay, it'd be fucking crushing.

Their content moderation is and always has been trash.

This is a shame, but there seems to be a serious pattern occurring even for small fish like me. Had my Instagram/Facebook account of 7 and 15 years respectively deleted for supposedly being “hacked” but had no email to ask if there was a mysterious login…nothing. And there’s no one to talk to either or to try and find out what happened. Then I just receive an email saying your accounts have been deleted and you will not get them back. No explanation or questions…just deleted. There’s something strange going on and now I’m looking for other platforms with better security and more freedom to start again. Even thinking to going back to an old school blog style website as at least can be independent and not be controlled by the likes Mega and Google. 15 years of content all gone and no one to talk to about it. But like Mark Bell, you just got to get up and do your steps. Can’t imagine what it’s like for him with so much content and subscribers, etc. However, this is a strong signal that these guys have too much control and these spaces are not safe. Great video and know Mark will come back stronger. We need to start looking for the next move.

Super important that people are honest about what it takes to look a certain way, or to achieve certain lifting goals We arent delusional we know gear is " essential" we/youtube need to grow up & understand that ... this isn't a taboo subject ... people are experimenting in dangerous ways, there needs to be a forum for honesty, caution & guidance We know our sports heroes are on gear, we know our favourite fitness personalities are on gear ... its not promoting taking gear to talk about it, it's just a reflection of our current reality

It's the AI. The sheer amount of video uploads and watch hours this platform is churning out is hard to wrap your head around. That coupled with companies like KZbin announcing layoffs for the sake of implementing AI to replace that workforce is going to create many more situations like this in the future. The rules are changing as KZbin is no longer the wild west of viewing consumption but rapidly replacing mainstream sources and becoming the prime source. Sorry to hear this happened!

Don't think thats how it works. Yes maybe if you have 100 subscribers but I am sure there are thresholds here where an AI decision will get double checked by a human. The said fitness channel I belive meets that criteria.

@@DConnectEmpire One of KZbins biggest Instagram marketing channels recently got a copyright strike from Instagram itself for using it's logo in his videos. He was in danger of losing the entire channel. It turned out to be exactly this case, AI false-positive copyright flag. How big the channel is has nothing to do with it.

One of the most consistent policies youtube has had over the years has been no promoting steroids. You cant go through his library and tell me with a straight face he hasnt promoted steroids over the years. Not saying its right, but that would be my guess.

It's so hard to even begin to guess why it was taken down, but I will admit they have walked a thin line for a long time... in terms of addressing topics that KZbin may not like (i.e. PEDs). As a trainer, I am obviously against them losing their channel. It could have been a channel flag driven by AI... it could have been a Google Exec finding their teenage child watching one of their podcasts on gear, then sending a few texts, and boom the channel is gone. You never know, and when you walk that line, you run a risk. I'm not surprised they lost their channel, and I think they'll get it back. Hopefully.

KZbin has had problems forever. But it definitely seems to be getting worse. People that rely on YT for income shouldn't be able to be pushed off the platform without detailed and reasonable evidence, rather than just a generic blanket statement.

I've met Mark in person a few times and, unlike many here, I really don't care to ever see him again. But I have never seen anything from any of his content that I thought put him at risk for this. Ayyyy, glad to see more people becoming aware to how awful youtube as a platform is! Metal Outlaw, Louis Rossmann, Bluedrake42, among many others have espoused how this platform has been slowly spiraling downwards for the past 10 years. Truthfully, its as Zack says, there isnt a platform with as big of a brand recognition that’ll net them the same support and income as KZbin currently does. My personal choice of alternative platform is Odysee, but anything open-sourced and not beholden to a corporation, shareholder, or government would work.

i worked at these companies for over 15 years and there is 100% censorship if you don't fall in line with whatever the powers deem as the right message. solution.... maybe free market and have more than one platform. this is hard with such huge platform market leaders....

What probably happened is some of the younger fitness channels who absolutely use reported it, since he made his remarks on the stuff, and they were afraid he would scared he would scare away their audience.

I love Mark Bell and have been following him since around the time he started. But I do have to say, steroid talk has gotten so ridiculously normalized that I understand why his channel should get pulled. I think there are others who should have gone first, like people who actually glorify it (ie tren twins), but I understand. I'm sure someone who works at youtube had a kid come home and start talking about gear in a positive way because they saw a Sam Sulek video or something. I'd also hate to hear my kid say the same. Its been too nornalized and its time to remmeebr that its drug abuse. Doing steroids for recreational or sports enhancement IS drug abuse because its simply not necessary.

Ya this is crazy. My best advice would be to curate what content goes on which platform? KZbin may be better for more scripted content that you can filter to meet its guidelines, while you can make more podcast type content on other platforms that aren’t ban happy? Plus side is diversifying your reach?
